Chapter 9: Dino Snore!

Late at night in Sanjo city, people were getting some rest. But sometimes, even the unexpected happens at night. At a construction site, a dino capsule moved and opened, revealing a new dinosaur card.

Some of the dirt landed on it, and it glowed purple, revealing another tank-like dinosaur. This one looked like Tank, but had no spikes on his back. This dinosaur was Ankylosaurus. It was sleeping, and was buried in the rubble, not caring in the slightest.

(zooming up on a body of water, the D-Team is seen. The guitars kick in and Pterosaurs flew near the D-team and flew into the blue skies. They then flew past the Humane six and Sonata as the prehistoric era was seen)

Chilling out with the crew in the schoolyard

(Max is seen, running along side his baby version of a baby Triceratops.)

Finding trouble, never working too hard

(Rex is seen next, running with a baby Carnotaurus.)

Back in class they never taught us this

(Zoe was next, running with a baby Parasaurolophus)

Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss!

(The humane six, Sonata and the D-Team join up as the three dinos glowed)

Tough times, hard climbs

(Max takes out a card with an adult Triceratops and sweeps it along a handheld device.)

We'll take them all together!

(Rex and Zoe follow suite and swipe their cards as well.)

Right now, let's go!

(Both groups stand together with the three dinos at full strength with the dinos roaring.)

(Chomp and Max stand side by side as Chomp charges in.)

Come on, you better play your cards right!

(Rex draws a new card as Ace stands ready for battle.)

(Zoe and Paris are right behind them as Zoe performs one of her unique moves when using her own move cards.)

You'll make the grade and win this fight!

(Sonata runs with a card in her hand, while being chased by a T-rex and tosses the card to Rex, who swipes it. A guitar solo then comes out as multiple dinos from the different elements ready their own signature moves. Among them are Terry, Spiny and Tank, tackling the Alpha gang and Terry biting Dr. Z's beard.)

(As all of the dinos begin fighting, on yeah, Max and Sunset give each other a high five. Then all of them are shown.)

(Chomp, Ace, Paris, even Terry, Spiny and Tank in their full forms dash around one another, fighting for what's at stake on both sides!)

(All three raise their cards into the air as the title shows, Terry's roar shaking it up just like in the original opening.)

The construction raged all night long, disturbing one individual at the Taylor household.

Rex and Ace were trying to sleep, but the noise was so loud, they couldn't. Rex growled lightly as he looked at his partner.

"Pretty hard to sleep around here, huh Ace?" he asked in a tired voice.

Ace agreed, as they tried to sleep, but no prevail.

The next morning, Sunset and the others arrived. It was a saturday, so they had no school. They all entered with their dinosaurs, seeing Max coming down from the stairs yawning.

"Morning girls. You just get here?" Max asked.

"It's Saturday, we had to come early." Sunset said.

Blaze leaped up to the table and saw Rex, with bags under his eyes, slowly falling asleep. He decided to wake him up a little bit by licking his cheek.

"Whuh?" Rex asked. "Oh, it's just you, Blaze. Sorry if I'm like this, there's been construction lately, and due to it being by my window, Ace and I hardly got any sleep."

That was when Sunset and the others arrived in the room, and saw Rex and Ace's sleepy state.

"Woah, are you ok, Rex? You look horrible." Sunset asked.

"Ace and I didn't get any sleep due to the construction going on all night." He responded.

"Really? I didn't hear a thing." Max said.

"What? You're telling me you didn't hear any of that super loud construction going on all night?!" Rex said.

"I guess not." Max replied.

"Well, I wish I was you, so I didn't have to stay awake from all that noise." Rex growled lightly.

"Yeah, right? Chomp slept great too." Max said.

"Max, I think you're only insulting him." Rainbow said.

"Maybe if he wasn't so clueless, he'd get it right away and I'd tell him how much it bothered me." Rex said.

"Oh yeah, well it's better than being uptight like you." Max said glaring at him.

"Maybe if you didn't sleep so much, you're brain would have not rot!" Rex snapped angrily.

"Hey, it's important for guys to get 10 hours of sleep!" Max snapped back.

"Boys, calm down this instant!" Rarity snapped, causing the two to flinch.

"Wow Rarity, you're good at getting them to stop." Aki said coming in with breakfast.

"Well, I do look after my little sister while my parents are out." Rarity replied.

Meanwhile, constriction was going on in another part of town as the subway tunnels were being built. As the workers went deeper in, they made so much loud noise. The sound disturbed the Ankylosaurus beneath the rubble and emerged. The workers panicked and ran, while the herbivore retreated deeper into the tunnels.

Back at the Taylor household, Aki was more than happy to make breakfast for the girls as they all ate, but Max and Rex were eating at a more faster pace, still pretty pissed at each other.

"Man, they really dug into each other." Rainbow said getting some Orange Juice before her shot beeped. She put down her glass and ran to the table. "There's a hit right in the town subways!"

Everyone dropped what they were eating and ran to the D-lab.

Meanwhile, the Alpha gang already got a head start.

"I don't like it down here, at all. Are you sure this is the right place?" Ursula asked.

"According to Dr.Z, there's an Ankylosaurus detected in this area." Zander answered.

"You mean the same man who blows up the lab?" Ursula asked back.

"Yep! That's our leader." Zander and Ed replied.

"Let's keep looking. We can't leave empty handed." Zander said.

"Hey, I think i see something." Ed said shining his flashlight on a part of something. "This part of an old subway car or something?" When he touched it, the object moved, startling the three. It was the tail of the Ankylosaurus.

"It's a Dinosaur!" the three said as Ankylosaurus bashed a hole in the wall with his tail, nearly missing them.

"That was close! I almost lost my head!" Ed said in relief.

"Good, if you had i wouldn't be able to hit you." Ursula said doing so. "Now come on, let's tail that dinosaur!"

"But, Ursula, it already has a tail." Ed said.

"It's a figure of speech!" Ursula snapped.

At the d-lab, they met up with Zoe and arrived in record time.

"The dinosaurs in the subway, right?" Rainbow asked Reese.

"In the middle of our town, too." Reese said.

"Hey, wheres Dr. Taylor?" Zoe asked.

"He isn't here, he said something about an important errand and unintentionally Dragged Fluttershy with him." Reese said.

"Oh, so that's why i didn't see dad or fluttershy this morning." Max said.

"You're right Rex, he is kinda clueless." Rainbow said.

"See, what'd I tell ya?" Rex smugly said.

"You're taking his side?" Max asked.

"Stop arguing. You do it more than Reese and I and we're sisters. Now come on." Zoe said as they all beamed out, Reese just noticing what Zoe mentioned.

"What's she talking about? I don't have time for silly little arguments." She said and returned to her computer. "She'll hear about this later."

With the group, they teleported to a roof, near the construction area that's close to the others that kept Rex up. One of the machines were buried in a massive hole.

"Whoa, thats a big one." Rainbow said.

"The dino did it probably, maybe it tried to come up but got scared and went down into the subway?" Rex said.

"In that case, let's search the subway." Sunset said as they went in. "We better split up. Rex, you, Rainbow, and Sonata board a train and try to locate the dino along the tracks, the rest of us will go with Max and Zoe and scope the sewers."

"Must we really?" Rarity asked.

"Look, Rex and Max need some time apart because of this morning, so I'm sure some time apart will make them calm down, and they can apologize later." Sunset said.

"Don't count on it. Let's go, Chomp." Max said.

"Cmon, Ace." Rex said as they split off.

"Hey, wait!" Rainbow said as they followed the boys.

Meanwhile in the stores in the subway, we finally see what Spike errand was that he had to take Fluttershy along with him.

"Welcome to our annual outdoor gear big bargain sale, with prices so low, we're practically giving them away!" the announcer said as Flutters herself was with an excited spike.

"Um, Mr. Taylor? Why am I here exactly?" Fluttershy asked the very excited man.

"I've waited so long for this day to come! And, y'know… you're into nature and everything, so I thought you'd like some gear of your own." Spike explained.

"Oh...well, I suppose you're right. I think I might need some new equipment for my birds and squirrels."

An air horn sounded off.

"And let the sale begin!" The announcer said as the line piled into the store. Spike grabbed the brunette by the hand as she squealed a bit as spike dashed into the store.

"Outta our way, move it or lose it, buddy!" Spike called. When the two got into a more peaceful area, Spike looked at her. "Now, go on and get what you need and meet me back here in 10 minutes. I have some dino gear to collect!" he said and ran off.

"Oh..so that's what was important to him." Fluttershy said as Maya and her son finally caught up. "Oh, I know this is hard to adapt to Maya, but now we can see what stuff we can give to you and your son."

Maya looked at all the gear around the store. Clearly, a lot of the pet stuff was interesting, but she only was used to making a nest out of leaves and branches. Her son found a large dog bed and he tested it. It felt very soft to him and he cooed in delight by the texture. Maya accepted it. As long as her young was happy, she was too.

"Oh, that looks perfect. I'll buy this, and some other gear to get your son adapted to modern life." Fluttershy said.

In 10 minutes, the two walked out the door carrying bags.

"Thank you so much you two, see you next year!" The announcer said.

"Man, what a score! An infrared dino grill, a dinosaur tent, and even my very own dinosaur egg shaped pillow!" Spike said in delight.

"I'm happy I got some things too. Oh, but they're for Maya and her baby, that's all." Fluttershy said before feeling a rumble. "Gasp, an earthquake?!"

One of the walls bashed itself in as Ankylosaurus appeared out of it. The people all screamed and ran out of the way, while Spike looked at the herbivore in awe.

"An Ankylosaurus!" He said in amazement.

"What should I do? Should I battle it or…?" Fluttershy said reaching for her shot before the announcer fell to the ground dropping the megaphone he was holding, blasting a soundwave out. The sound made the herbivore roar in agony and bash the wall again, retreating to the quiet darkness.

"Oh gosh!" Fluttershy said helping Spike up. "Did you see the way it reacted to that burst of sound? That poor dinosaur must be looking for someplace quiet to rest."

"Maybe, and the fact I should have brought my Lasso." Spike added. "But more to the point. If you're right, the more noise there is, the more agitated it will become, and it might bring the whole subway down. Come on, we gotta follow it!" He grabbed her hand and ran into the hole it escaped in, with Maya and her son following.

In a part of the sewers, the first group was searching.

"Ugh, you're right Rarity, maybe this wasn't such a good idea, it kinda smells." Zoe said.

"Really? I don't smell anything." Max said.

"I think I'm starting to get where Rex is coming from now." Sunset whispered.

"Huh? You say something, Sunset?" Max asked.

"Oh, no. Nothing at all." She replied, before feeling a bashing vibration.

"Hey! There it is!" Pinkie said seeing Ankylosaurus running down the way.

"Definitely an Ankylosaurus." Zoe said. Before the group could chase it, they saw the Alpha gang.

"Look! Those brats have followed us again!" Zander said.

"We never give up on tailing bad guys, one of our issues." Sunset said.

"But this is as far as you'll go, if you'll believe it." Ursula said.

"Can it, old hag." Sonata said.

Ursula was about to go at them before Zander and Ed stopped her. "You make it hard for me to be nice!"

"Calm down, remember your breathing exercises!" Ed said.

"That Dinosaur will be ours, so you can just go home now." Zander said.

"What makes you think that'll happen?" Sunset said.

"You're about to find out." Ursula said as Zander and ed went to a pipe. "Time for the alpha gang to turn up the pressure!" turning the wheel a few times, the pipe exploded and created a massive water wall to prevent them from going any further.

"It's too strong! We can't go through!" Max said.

"Hahaha! If you can't go with the flow, then you should just go!" ursula crackled as they ran off to the herbivore.

"We gotta find another way around." Sunset said before seeing Spike and Fluttershy.

"Yoohoo, Ankylosaurus!" Spike said.

"Please come back, we don't want to hurt you!" Fluttershy called as the two passed the group with them not noticing.

"It's my Dad and Fluttershy!" Max said.

Meanwhile, near the trains, Rex and his group came near the trains. The train stopped and opened the doors.

"Ok, we need to have our dinos act like dogs." Rex whispered to his group.

"Yeah, act casual." Sonata whispered.

"Alright, this way little doggie." Rex said in a slightly high voice. "This way now, no barking."

Rainbow was biting her lips and snorting lightly to keep herself from laughing by how funny he sounded.

"Wha'd I say about causal? This is how it's done." Sonata said. "Cmon girl, this way." she said normally as Iry followed her. Luckily they all boarded without any problems.

"Riding the train gives us the edge, cause we can look for the dinosaur while moving." Rex said before his eyes started drooping and he yawned.

"You still tired?" Rainbow asked.

"Yeah...I hate that construction for keeping me up." He said quietly.

Rainbow shook her head. "Ah well, we'll keep an eye out, let him sleep."

"Good idea." Sonata nodded.

Hearing that, Rex immediately fell asleep, but landed on Rainbows lap. She felt a little embarrassed as it was Sonata's turn to suppress her laughter.

A few minutes later, the train stopped, bringing Rex awake.

"What happened, why did we stop?" Rex asked.

"Something must be blocking the train, hold on…" Rainbow said before something moved and slammed the front of the tran. "Yup, it's the dino!"

"It is?!" Rex said looking out the window. "Whoa, that's an Ankylosaurus!"

He got his holder ready.

"No wait, not in here!" Rainbow called. The Ankylo bashed the train again, making him lose his grip of his holder and making it fall out of the train.

"AH! My dino holder!" Rex shouted in panic.

Ankylo continued to bash the train as everyone held on.

"Everyone keep holding on to something!" Rex said gripping Ace.

"What does it look like I'm doing?!" Rainbow asked while holding Whirlwind in her arms.

Suddenly, they heard music.

"What's that?" Sonata asked as they looked out behind them as a cart was coming forward with the Alpha gang in it, and speakers were transmitting music.

"How nice traveling is when you have good music to release your stress!" Ursula laughed.

"The Alpha Gang, of course." Rainbow said.

"Oh, not again. There's three more of those brats up ahead." Ursula said.

"Finally, an excuse to stop." Zander said.

"Maybe we can take a lunch break?" Ed asked.

"After we bag the dinosaur and the brats ones. Now Ed, initiate capture!" Ursula said.

Ed scanned tanks card on the scanner. "Go, Saichania!" Tank burst out of the earth and roared in her appearance. She then bashed up against the train from her side as Ankylo pushed back.

"I'm starting to regret this idea. Were right in the middle of a train tug-of-war between two earth types and rex lost his holder!" Rainbow said.

"We gotta do something! But without my holder, I can get Ace out!" Rex said.

"We still have our Shots!" Sonata said, pulling hers out.

"Sonata, Irys too big for these tunnels! Whirlwind, it's up to you!" Rainbow said as she called Whirlwind back into his card. She spun her shot and opened it, inserting the card and closing the device. "Energize!" she said spinning the wheel making wind gust all around. "Unleash the Power!" She shot the card out and Whirlwind blasted around the tunnels and roared on top of the train.

"It's the Utahraptor!" Ed said.

"We can't let it escape this time, Zander, have tank charge in and take em all out at once!" Ursula aid.

"Got it! Dino Swing!" Zander called, using the move card.

Tank roared and charged in at Whirlwind.

"Not this time! Atomic Bomb!" Rainbow called activating the raptors card.

"Uh oh!" the gang said as Whirlwind roared and backflipped into the air, braking through the roof..

"Get back! This is gonna be big!" Rex shouted as they ran for it. Up in the air, Whirlwind started diving back into the subway, energy surrounding him, and moving in fast like a meteor.

"Incoming!" Sonata said as they ducked into another tunnel as Whirlwind landed and a Mighty explosion blasted through the tunnels. The impact was very massive, and Tank couldn't take the damage and whined in pain and returned to her card.

"Wow…" Rainbow said as Whirlwind ran back to them.

"Wait, where'd Ankylo go?" Ed asked as they saw something tunnel under ground and burst out.

"Whoa, that thing can burrow?!" Rainbow asked.

"That's Mole attack! It must've used it to escape the impact!" Zander said as the Ankylo retreated deeper into the tunnels.

"We can't lose, not this quick!" Ursula said as the music started back up again and they tailed after it. However, they stopped when Whirlwind blocked their path and roared at them.

"Going somewhere?" Rainbow asked smirking while riding on his back.

"Grrr! Zander, call out Terry!" Ursula said.

"Uh... if we try calling Terry out, we'll only get buried." Zander admitted.

"What?!" Ursula said.

"But we still have this! Hiyah!" Zander said lassoing whirlwinds tail as he sped of after Ankylo.

"Hey!" Rainbow said.

"Hah! That's how we cowboys do things at the ranch!" Zander said.

"You've never been on a ranch, Zander." Ed said.

"Well, I've had ranch dressing. Yee-haw!" Zander called.

"You don't know a real cowboy if it bit you in the butt!" Rainbow called, while Whirlwind whipped his tail around to get the rope free.

As they neared ankylo, the stereo broke, causing him more pain.

"Ow! Hey, wouldja turn that down?!" Rainbow asked.

"I can't, it's broken!" Zander said as Rex and Sonata followed.

"Ow, rainbows right, it's too loud! That dinosaur must be trying to escape from all the noise!" Rex said.

Both dinos ran as the cart rattled behind.

"Look at what you did, you sport brat, you've broken the sound system on this thing! Lucky it's just a rental!" Ursula said.

"Yeah, and it's on my card!" Zander shouted.

"This would have not happen if you sad excuse of villains didn't lasso Whirlwind!" Rainbow shouted back.

"Hey, look up ahead!" Ed said as there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

"Not good, if Ankylo keeps going, they'll have enough room for Terry!" Sonata shouted.

"I won't let that happen! Whirlwind, show them your true speed and get that dinosaur back underground!" Rainbow said.

"Too late, look!" Rex said as they were finally outside and Ankylo was surrounded by honking horns.

"Well, at least the music stopped, I can finally hear myself think." Ed said.

"Really? What's the sound of Silence?" Ursula asked.

The people from the streets saw the dinos and were shocked, even seeing Rainbow riding on Whirlwind.

Ankylo went nuts with every single noise around him and made his tail snag on the rope, releasing Whirlwind from it.

"Uh.. you suppose he's wagging his tail because he's happy?" Zander asked.

"Somehow, I don't think so." Ursula replied, feeling nervous. With a mighty pull, they gang was launched into the air and out of sight just as Rex and Sonata arrived.

The others arrived too, coming up from the subway.

"Look!" Max said seeing the other group above as more noised from choppers and sirens came.

"Please, everyone, stop!" Fluttershy said as she and Spike came out from the other end.

"Fluttershy and Dr. Taylor." Rex said.

"I hope you know what you're doing, Fluttershy. It's really going nuts." Spike said.

"I know." She nodded. The Ankylosaurus was bellowing in both anger and agony. With all the noise and lack of sleep, there was nothing that can calm him down. He then lifted his tail.

"Ah! Fluttershy, look out!" Rex shouted.

The tail moved down as Fluttershy's eyes widened.

Quickly, Whirlwind moved at great speed and caught her in time, moving her back to Spike.

"Rex!" Max said as the others arrived.

"You guys!" Sonata said.

"Here, catch! We found it while tailing you!" Max said throwing Rex's holder to him.

"Thanks, Max! Okay Sonata, you and me!" Rex said, calling Ace's card.

"Right!" Sonata replied, calling Iry's card.

"DINO-SLASH!" Rex shouted, swiping the card. "Carnotaurus, blow them away!" Ace appeared from a burst of wind and roared in arrival.

"Ready!" Sonata spun her shot and loaded Iry's card. "Energize!" She spun the wheel, having water gust around her. "Unleash the power!" She shot the card out and Iry roared in her arrival.

(Cue-Xenoblade Chronicles- You Will Know Our Names)

The two carnivores stood side by side, as the earth dinosaur roared at them, ready to take them on.

"Ready, Ace!? Let's go!" Rex called.

"Get in there, Iry!" Sonata called.

Iry and Ace charged in side by side as the Ankylosaurus stood ready. The two bit down on his neck hard as the earth dino bashed Ace out of the way and he fell off the tracks.

"Ace!" Rex said.

"He's okay!" AJ said.

"You'll pay for that!" Sonata said, taking out a move card. "Water Whip!" She activated the card, making Iry roar covered in a blue glow and water surrounded her tail. She grabbed the Ankylo and whipped him around and threw him off the tracks near Ace.

"Hit em, Ace!" Rainbow said as Ace slammed him into the ground.

"Oh no, that's just what he wants!" Sonata said. As Ankylo tunneled to Ace.

"Ace, look out!" Rex shouted.

He was too late to respond as Ankylo bashed him and made him fall to the ground.

"Ace won't last much longer! He's still exhausted!" Sunset said.

"Rex, Catch!" Sonata called throwing Life force Swap to him.

"Thanks, this'll give me the edge. Go, Life Force Swap!" Rex said, swiping the move card.

Ace glowed in his element and roared, biting Ankylo. The two glowed as their energy was transferred from one another. Ace was back to full strength as Ankylo was the one in trouble.

"Okay, now or never! Cyclone!" Rex shouted activating Ace's signature card. Wind blasted around him, as Ace roared with new bright energy. He charged in and bashed the Ankylo in the air and he slammed into the ground, now very weakened.

"I think that did it, he'll listen to reason now." Sunset said.

"Rainbow, I could um.. Use a hand?" Fluttershy asked.

"Sure. Hop on." Rainbow gestured while Whirlwind lowered down. Fluttershy gently got on as the raptor jumped down and landed. Fluttershy got off and slowly approached the tired, weakened herbivore.

"Let me help." Rex said.

"Huh? Why?" Sonata asked.

"Because I think we have something in common." He replied. "He was trying to get away from the noise so he can sleep in peace, but due to the noise around him wherever he went, he couldn't."

Fluttershy nodded, and walked over to Ankylo. "Oh you poor thing, is that really true?"

Ankylo nodded weakly and exhaustively.

"I can understand. Sometimes I need quiet time.. most of the time." Fluttershy said. "But always rampaging isn't the answer, you need someone to help you through it. And I think I can help."

"She's right." Rex said kneeling to the herbivore. "I kinda went through the same thing like you. I didn't get a lot of sleep either, and I got cranky. You and I are alike." He said, stroking the dino's head.

"So it's settled, he's going with Fluttershy." AJ said. "Um, but what should we name him?"

"He's good with that Mole Attack card, so why don't we call him… Drill?" Rex asked.

The Ankylosaurus, dub named Drill, happily took the new name and nodded lightly. He then retreated to his card to get the true rest he was looking for. Fluttershy happily grabbed the cards gently in her hands.

After that, they all returned to the Taylor household. Spike was cooking up rice from his new dino grill he bought.

"So this was what you got dragged into?" Sunset asked.

"Yes, but it was worthwhile for me too. I managed to get some comfort items for Maya and his son." Fluttershy said.

"But keep it down, alright? Rex and Drill are catching up on sleep." Zoe said quietly.

It was true. Rex, Ace and even Drill in his small form were sleeping on the couch all snuggled together, sleeping peacefully under a blanket Kia gave them.

"Aww, look at them. They look so cute when they're asleep together." Fluttershy whispered quietly.

"Especially when Rex fell asleep on Rainbows lap at the train." Sonata snickered.

Rainbow's face turned red. "Why did you have to bring that up!?" She snapped very quietly.

"I'm sorry, but it was so cute, and I even took a picture when you weren't looking." Sonata smirked, showing everyone the pic of Rex sleeping peacefully on Rainbow's lap.

They all giggled and awwed at the pic while Rainbow's face was red. She looked at the sleeping boy and sighed with a small smile.

"I will get back at you for this kid, one day." She whispered.

"I'm just glad they're catching up on sleep, kids need it to grow big and strong." Aki said.

"If that's true, then im gonna be huge!" Max said.

"Wait, if it is, then what d'you suppose Chomp and the others would look like?" AJ asked.

The envisonment of Chomp and the others big in the yard echoed through their minds. Everyone except Aki was taking and nervous to how they will take care of huge baby dinosaurs.

Zoe: Oh no! I can't believe Paris ripped up one of Reese's scarves!"

Rarity: Oh, the horror! And it looked so gorgeous. I certainly must say, your sister has a taste in fashion.

Rainbow: Don't worry, we can just go to the Mega Mall and buy a similar one, it doesn't look that expensive.

Sonata: Wow, a book with dinosaur cards, and even move cards!

Mysterious Man: Like em? I have an interest in dinosaurs for a long time.

Sunset: Sir, how much are you willing to sell the book for? We'll pay with what we have.

Mysterious Man: Oh, just take em, they seem good in your hands.

Ursula: Not if we take them first!
