Chapter 10: Downtown Runaround

A new day rises, and at the Pet shop, Zoe was putting on some small clothing for Paris to wear. She was wearing a yellow shirt with a blue and white striped scarf. For Paris, this was not comfortable to her.

"Oh Zoe darling, you are a natural. It suits her magnificently, as if she had been born with it!" Rarity said.

"I know. That striped scarf looks beautiful on her!" Zoe beamed.

Paris couldn't take much more, and out of anger, she ripped the scarf into pieces and took the clothing off.

"Aaaah, no!" Zoe said.

"Oh, the humanity!" Rarity swooned.

"I guess scarfs aren't for everyone." Zoe mumbled. At that, Reese walked in, wearing a blue uniform dress.

"Oh, hi, Reese. Back from the lab so soon?" Zoe asked.

Reese walked over to the couch and was looking for something. "Hmm, that's funny, I could've sworn I left my new scarf on the couch when I left."

Zoe felt her heart stop and blood turn a little cold. It was the same scarf that Paris ripped to pieces. She quickly grabbed the torn pieces and hid then behind her back, laughing nervously.

"Have any of you girls seen it? It was striped, blue and white, and it was very expensive." Reese asked the two.

"Uh, no, we haven't! I haven't seen any scarves around here!" Zoe said.

"Have you seen it, Rarity?" Reese asked.

"Um, I certainly haven't. Maybe if you just kept looking, it will be found, you know how items are hard to find…" Rarity said as Scales sweatdropped.

"Well, I suppose you're right. If you two find it, let me know. I hate to lose it." Reese said as she left the two.

After she left, Zoe grew very nervous as she looked at the torn pieces of her new scarf.

"What do I do now?" Zoe asked.

(zooming up on a body of water, the D-Team is seen. The guitars kick in and Pterosaurs flew near the D-team and flew into the blue skies. They then flew past the Humane six and Sonata as the prehistoric era was seen)

Chilling out with the crew in the schoolyard

(Max is seen, running along side his baby version of a baby Triceratops.)

Finding trouble, never working too hard

(Rex is seen next, running with a baby Carnotaurus.)

Back in class they never taught us this

(Zoe was next, running with a baby Parasaurolophus)

Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss!

(The humane six, Sonata and the D-Team join up as the three dinos glowed)

Tough times, hard climbs

(Max takes out a card with an adult Triceratops and sweeps it along a handheld device.)

We'll take them all together!

(Rex and Zoe follow suite and swipe their cards as well.)

Right now, let's go!

(Both groups stand together with the three dinos at full strength with the dinos roaring.)

Game on, get your game on!

(Chomp and Max stand side by side as Chomp charges in.)

Come on, you better play your cards right!

(Rex draws a new card as Ace stands ready for battle.)

(Zoe and Paris are right behind them as Zoe performs one of her unique moves when using her own move cards.)

You'll make the grade and win this fight!

(Sonata runs with a card in her hand, while being chased by a T-rex and tosses the card to Rex, who swipes it. A guitar solo then comes out as multiple dinos from the different elements ready their own signature moves. Among them are Terry, Spiny and Tank, tackling the Alpha gang and Terry biting Dr. Z's beard.)

You'll make the grade somehow,

(As all of the dinos begin fighting, on yeah, Max and Sunset give each other a high five. Then all of them are shown.)

(Chomp, Ace, Paris, even Terry, Spiny and Tank in their full forms dash around one another, fighting for what's at stake on both sides!)

(All three raise their cards into the air as the title shows, Terry's roar shaking it up just like in the original opening.)

At zeta point, Rod and Laura were beading the crap out of Ursula and Zander. No, not literally, gaming wise. Rod had designed a new game and they were playing it. And right now, the eagle controlled by the youngest members was thrashing an Albatross around in the air like a ragdoll.

"Yeah, go for it!" Rod said as Albatross was tossed into the water.

"Were losing again." ursula said.

"Yeah, and we get stuck with the Albatross everytime." Zander said.

On rods next command, the Eagle dove in for a finishing blow.

"Aha! They fell for it! Albatross, do a diving kick!" Ursula called.

The two birds clash, but the Albatross missed and the eagle swooped in one last time and finished it off.

"Oh no!" The two shouted as they lost again. That was when Z came into the room.

"What's all this squawking going on!?" Z snapped.

"We're playing a new game I invented." Rod explained.

"So far, Ursula and Zander have lost 97 times, even with our head start we gave them." Laura said.

"That's because you kids keep using the eagle and we're stuck with the stupid albatross!" Ursula snapped.

"Why can't we ever use it?!" Zander asked.

"Hm? Where's that dimwit Ed?" Z asked.

"Said something about going on the computer for some very important top secret research." Rod answered.

That so called research, was Ed watching some kind of model show. Until the others caught onto him.

"Why can't I ever get some peace and quiet?" Ed asked.

"Hey, look at this photo here." Zander said as they saw the mysterious man from before.

"I know him! That's the crazy pilot that flew us to Switzerland!" Ursula snapped.

"The one who bailed on us at 10 thousand feet." Zander said.

Z wasn't interested in the man, but the book he had in front of him.

"What's wrong, Grandpa, you know him too?" Rod asked.

"No, not that! Look at the book he has out!" Z pointed at the book. The group looked closer at the open book, and were surprised to see what was inside. "It's a card folio, loaded with dinosaur cards!"

"Wait, you don't know if they're real, they could be fakes." Rod said.

"Highly likely, but it's still a high chance they might be the cards that were scattered! Alpha Gang, find him and get that book!" Z commanded.

"Yes sir!" The three saluted.

At the Taylor household…

"You girls wanna go to the Mega Mall?" Max asked.

A little later, Rarity and Zoe returned to the house to ask the others to join them to the mall.

"Yeah, it'll be fun. We can shop for some clothes and I'll even buy some kind of food on a stick." Zoe said.

"Well, I guess that sounds fine." Max said.

"Excellent! I'm glad you all agree!" Rarity beamed.

"And, we have some cute clothes for Chomp and the others." Zoe said, holding a bag up.

Chomp had a Baby outfit on while Ace had a suit.

"Heh. They look good in those." Rainbow said.

"Too bad Scales isn't interested in these wonderful outfits…" Rarity said as Scales wasn't dressed.

"Well, they might not love them, but they're not tearing them to pieces." Rex said.

"Hear that Paris? They like them." Zoe said, while Paris just lifted her nose and looked away.

"We even designed you a pair, Drill." Rarity said as Drill woke up from his nap at the sound of that. "This will make you more adorable."

Drill had a blue shirt with a few stars on them, and even wearing a small diamond necklace, with his tail tied with a blue bow.

"Well, what do you think?" Zoe asked.

Drill looked over the outfit for a moment, until he just lied down and fell asleep again, with the clothing not bothering him.

"Don't sleep yet! At least give your feedback!" Rarity said.

"Sorry Rarity, but you know him. Drill is one that sleep a lot." Fluttershy said.

"Well, at least Drill isn't ripping it off, either." Rex chuckled lightly.

"Should we leave him here while we're at the mall?" Max asked.

"Well, I don't see why not. We do have the others with us, and it seems Drill needs more sleep after what happened from before." Rex said, remembering the loud commotion from yesterday.

After that, the group left and boarded the train. They all were wearing collars to keep them close. The dinos were looking out the window, while Scales and Paris were napping near their owners.

"So, we're looking for a scarf?" Sunset asked.

"Yeah, to be honest, I was messing with Reeses new scarf and Paris tore it to pieces, The real thing might be expensive, so I was hoping we can find a cheap one at the mall that looks like it." Zoe admitted.

"So that's why." Rainbow said.

"Well, it's just a scarf. I'm sure Reese just needs an apology, and understanding." Sonata said.

"You really don't know much about my sister. She's not the forgiving type." Zoe adds in.

"There was this one time yesterday that Max and I were fiddling with some stuff, and she dropped a large firecracker on the two of us to make us stop, even scaring Chomp and Ace." Rex says.

"Yeesh. Maybe we should keep it a secret from her right now." Rainbow said.

"Next stop, the Mega Mall!" The conductor announced.

"Well, since you'll get into trouble later, let's have fun while we have it." Max said.

The group got off the train and looked around. The dinos were new to this and grew curious. They were passing by a new larged model of a new robot transformer toy. In curiosity, Chomp tugged on his leash and jumped on it, biting and nibbling on the model.

"Chomp! Get down from there!" Max said.

Ace rammed into an inflatable model of a white buffed thing and he bounced into Rex's arms.

"Ace, behave yourself." Rex said.

"Guess we're gonna have to keep a tight grip on the leashes." Rainbow said, while holding Whirlwind on her arms.

"Guess you're right." Rex said. He looked over and saw a new arcade nearby. "Hey is that a new arcade?"

"Really? Cmon!" Rainbow said as she and the boys ran for the new Arcade. "Let's see what kind of games they have!"

The girls all sighed. "Ah guess somethings never change in Rainbow." Aj said.

Razor nodded before noticing that Paris was wandering off when Zoe dropped her own leash while looking at some jewelry. He nudged AJ.

"Huh? What is it, boy?" The farm girl asked. Razor pointed his nose to where Paris was walking off. Aj saw her and her eyes widened. She saw a mysterious man with artifacts and so forth. "Whoa now! Look at what he's got."

AJ scooped up Paris and came over to the mysterious man.

"Excuse me mister, but what's that ya have in that there book?" Aj asked, as Sonata walked over with iry.

"Woah! Look at that! It's a book filled with dinosaur cards, and even move cards!" Sonata said in shock.

"Like'em? I collected these cards for a long time now." The Mysterious man explained. He then noticed Iry was nuzzling him on his side. He smiled and petted her head gently. "Well, that's a very cute dinosaur you have, young lady."

"Oh, thank you sir." Sonata smiled. That was when she and Aj's eyes shattered open to what the man said.

"You know these are real dinos?" AJ asked in surprise.

"Why of course. I can tell by their shape and form." The man explained. "An Irritator, a Gastonia and even a Parasaurolophus. Oh, but don't worry, I won't tell a soul about your little secret."

"Thanks, mister." AJ said. "Hold on a sec, I'm getting our friends." She said and left them for a moment.

Meanwhile, the Alpha gang arrived as well, but not with the same energy like the group.

"I hate taking the train." Ursula said.

"At least you got a seat with the little old man." Zander points out.

"Where did you learn to do a stranglehold?" Ed asked.

Behind them, four models were getting off, but the three were blocking them.

"Hey, move it or lose it." One said to them.

"We'll move when we're ready!" Ursula snapped, when she noticed them.

"What are you looking at?" One with a maiden outfit asked.

"Take a picture. It will last longer." Another said.

Seeing the ladies, Ed blushed. "Wow! Are you models!?"

Zander quickly moved Ursula out of the way. "Go on ahead. I'm sure you ladies have a fashion show to catch." He said politely.

The four walked off, while Ed was awed at their outfits and beauty.

"Please. Fashions for what? Halloween?" Ursula asked.

"Worry about that later, are you sure these tickets will get us through?" Zander asked.

"Don't worry. Just follow me, and do what I do." Ursula said as they tried to creep by, but were stopped by a guard.

Back with the group, they all gathered and saw the cards the man has while their dinosaurs looked at them as well.

"I can't believe how many dinosaur cards you have sir." Max said in light amazement.

"Maybe, but we don't know if they're real or not." Rex said.

"Well, one way to find out." Rainbow said. "Sir, mind if we take one of the cards out for a moment?"

"Help yourself." The man replied, and Max reached for one. He pulled out a dinosaur card, which was blue, a carnivore, with a small horn on its nose, with purple stripes on its neck.

"That's a Ceratosaurus." Rainbow said.

"Its wind type, huh? Give it a shot, Rex." Max said.

Rex took the card, but before he could swipe it, Sunset quickly out her hand over his holder.

"Huh? What are you doing, Sunset?" Rex asked.

"It's not a good idea to summon a dinosaur out here." She gestured to the public around them. "People are watching, and we can't start trouble."

"But we need to know if it's real or not." He pointed out.

"I think I have idea. Rex, give me the card." Rainbow said.

Rex gave her the wind dinosaur card and she loaded it in her shot. She spun the wheel in the opposite direction and fired it in front of them. The card glowed lightly and summoned a miniature version of the Ceratosaurus.

"It worked." Rex said in amazement.

"Sweet." Rainbow beamed. She returned the Ceratosaurus to its card and gave it back to the man.

"Now we know the other cards must be real." Zoe said.

"Yeah." Sunset nodded. "Sir, how much are you willing to sell this book? We'll pay with what we have."

"Hmm...well…" The man said thinking over the price. "That's hard."

"I think we may win this one, guys." Rainbow said.

"Yeah, so far we haven't seen signs of the Alpha Gang." Pinkie said.

"Don't be so quick to assume things!" Ursula said as they appeared.

"You just had to jinx it, didn't you?" Rainbow asked.

"Now we have to deal with the old lady again." Zoe said.

"Will you stop calling me that?!" Ursulas iasd.

"You know, it's normally a sign of respect." Ed said.

"Respect this!" Ursula snapped, strangling him.

"Anyway, what's important right now, that we need those cards. Name your price for the cardfolio." Zander said.

"Hey, back off! We were here first, and we're already settling with a deal!" Rainbow snapped.

"So buzz off!" Zoe snapped.

"You all buzz off! Go fly home and watch TV or whatever you brats do!" Ursula said. She turned to the man. "Now, unless you're worse businessman than you are as a pilot, you'll give us the cards!"

"Don't listen to them, sir! Don't give them the cards!" Sunset said.

"Sell, sell sell!" The Alpha gang chanted.

The dinosaurs around him were looking at the cards, while Paris was eating his fries.

"Paris, don't eat his fries!" Zoe said.

Chomp jumped on him and started biting his head.

"Comp, don't bite his head!" Max said, pulling him off.

"You settle down, too Ace!" Rex said.

"Aw, don't worry about them. Like I said, I really love dinosaurs." The man said smiling.

"Really?" Rainbow asked, as the others gathered around the book and gently stroking the cards with their claws and paws.

"I've decided. The cards will go to you kids." The man said smiling.

"WHAT!?" the Alpha gang shouted in shock.

"Really? For free?" Sunset asked in surprise.

"Of course. I can tell you all love dinosaurs like I do." The man said smiling.

Max picked up the book and they all smiled.

"Thank you so much." They all thanked. Suddenly, a claw popped out and grabbed the book, bring it over to the Alpha Gang.

"Thank you so much punks." Zander sneered. "Later!" The three ran off laughing.

"Oh no ya dont!" Aj shouted and pulled her rope out. She swirled it and she lassoed the book, bringing it back to them.

"Oh, come on!" Ursula said as they dashed all across the mall, trading the book back and forth until Zoe came to a park and put it near a fountain as everyone met up.

"We're gonna make our stand here. Not one of them gets the folio." Sunset said.

"Not if Terry has anything to say about it. Why don't you come out and say hello to them, Terry!" Ursula said as she swiped Terry's card. Terry burst out from the flames and roared loudly.

"Hah! You won't stand a chance against us!" Rainbow called.

"GO!" The D-Team called and showed their cards. "DINO-SLASH!" The swiped their cards and their elements exploded.

"Go, Triceratops, Roar!"

"Carnotaurus, Blow them away!"

"Parasaurolophus, bloom!" The three dinos burst out and roared in their appearance.

"Ready!" Rainbow called as she showed Whirlwinds card.

"Ready!" The other girls called showing theirs as well. They all spun their shots and loaded their cards in. "Energize!" The shouted and spun their wheels and their chosen elements swirling around them. "Unleash the power!" They shot their cards out and they all roared in appearance.

Outnumbered, Terry started to back up as the team all moved forward and roared at the Tyrant Lizard.

"Hey! That's no fair!" Ursula said.

"Since when was fair even in your vocabulary!?" Rainbow said.

"In that case, I bet you wouldn't mind if we used these." Zander said. "Go, Spiny!"

"You too, Tank!" Ed said, and the two Alpha Dinosaurs blasted out and appeared with their roars.

"It won't matter! They're nine of us and only three of you!" Sunset called.

"Since when do numbers matter in Dinosaur battles?" Ursula said as the battlefield changed to look prehistoric. "Huh?"

"With so many dinos out, we must've cause a paradox or something." Rainbow said. "Oh, never mind that. Let's RUMBLE!"

All of the dinos crashed and bashed against one another, it being surprisingly even despite the odds.

"Since when did the Alpha gang's dinosaurs get so strong!?" Rainbow asked.

"They must have trained them." Zoe said.

"Get them, Terry! Volcano Burst!" Ursula shouted.

"Shockwave!" Zander called.

"Dino swing!" Ed called as the three activated their move cards.

The three dinosaurs all roared as they powered up their attack and charged at the group.

"Mother of mercy!" Rarity said.

"Eeeek!" Fluttershy said accidentally loading in drills card and firing it out. He appeared in the battle, still asleep as all of them were moving in.

"Ah! Drill, get outta the way!" Fluttershy called. It was too late when the moves all bashed against him. Drill awoke from the impacts and it hurt him. Enraged by the sudden awakening, he roared, ready to bash the Alpha gang's dinosaurs.

"Well this works in our favor. Bash their heads in for killing your nap, Drill!" Rainbow said.

Drill went in swinging right away as he smashed Tank in the face and sent her flying. He then engaged Spiny as Terry split off and decided to attack the rest of the group on his own with his move still active. He made flames erupt that damaged everyone.

"Oh no!" Zoe said before noticing a card on the ground. "Whats this?'

"Does it matter? Its grass type, use it!" Rainbow siad.

"Please, we need your help!" Zoe said swiping the card as a trio of Pteranodons screeched out and were flying high in the sky and charging at Terry.

"Whoah, where did they come from?" Zander asked.

"They're Pteranodons right?" ursula asked.

"Whatever they are, they're heading for Terry!" Ed said.

They smashed into terry in quick succession, making him crumple. He got up as he saw them join together and dive at him.

"Thats Metal Wing. And unless I do something, Terrys finished." Ursula said before being reminded of the game earlier. "Oh, thats it! Terry, kick them!"

Terry raised his foot and kicked at the Pteranodons, passing them easily but was hopping on one foot for missing himself.

"Hahahahaha! What is that supposed to be, Terry trying to do a roundhouse kick!? That just made my day!" Rainbow laughed.

"It would have worked in a video game…" Ursula mumbled.

The Pteranodons then strike Terry as they passed him to chomp and Paris who tossed him near Drill, who was beating the living hell out of Spiny and tank. He then jumped into the air and did an ultra similar to Aganos's, the music even playing in the background as he launched them into the air and all of them landed on top of each other.

ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

With his opponents fallen. Drill bashed the ground with his club, stomped the ground with one foot and roared in the sky.

SUPREME VICTORY!

"Aw yeah, that's how we do it!" Rainbow cheered.

"But who has the cards?" Zander said taking them from the fountain. "This guy!"

"No!" Sunset called.

"Ah got it!" Aj said and tried to lasso the book again, but it was caught by Zander's hand. "What!?"

"Sorry, cowgirl, ain't gonna fall for the same trick twice." He sneered with a smirk and pulled it, making her fall forward. "Now, let's go!" He said as he and the other two ran off with the book.

"They got away with the book." Rex said.

"She moves fast, for an old hag." Sonata said.

"Who are you calling old?!" Ursula asked.

"I think she meant you." Ed said.

"Burned by your own teammate!" Rainbow laughed.

Later, the team returned to the Lab. Even though they lost the book, they managed to get ahold of one card, Metal Wing.

"There were so many cards in that book, and we only got one of them." Zoe said, looking at Metal Wing. "I feel like we failed."

"Well, at least you all worked hard to get at least one." Spike piped in.

"But now the Alpha gang has Lacen and all those cards." Max said. "One day, we're gonna get em back."

"That reminds me, how did you know the cards were there?" Reese asked.

"Uh… well I…" Zo said.

"Ah got this, Zoe. Reese, it's like this." Aj started before Zoe stopped her.

"No, AJ, this is my fault from the beginning. I'll tell her." Zoe said and walked forward. "Reese, I'm sorry. Your scarf was destroyed because of me. I wanted to try it on Paris, but she ripped it up. I thought if I can get you a new one, you wouldn't be mad at me for ruining your scarf. That's how we found the cards." Zoe explained.

Reese was silent from the explanation and her glasses were shining. Until she spoke.

"You didn't have to do all that." She responded.

"Huh!?" Zoe asked in surprise.

"Truth is, I got that scarf from the bargain bin." Reese explained.

"You did?" Zoe asked.

"I was going to let you off easy. I just wanted an apology from you is all." The older woman responded.

"You knew from the beginning!?" Zoe asked further.

"That's right." Reese nodded.

Zoe slumped on the ground.

"You got schoolde, by your big sis, Zoe." Rainbow said.

"Next time, leave the fashion statements to Paris, France." Reese said as Paris looked around.

Fisherman: Gah! What is that?!

Rainbow: Its a dinosaur, a Suchomimus!

Rex: It's located in Monaco!

Sunset: Its after the fish, and its fast on land. I guess Ace and Whirlwind will handle this one.

Rex: Just leave it to us.

Rainbow: Heh. Monacos about to get a taste of the first Dino Grand Prix!

Fisherman: Hey, wait a minute! That looks like the dinosaur that ate our fish!

Rex: Hang, this isn't what it looks like!
