Chapter 7: A Gameshow Showdown

Another beautiful day rose over the Taylor house. Sunset and the others already arrived with their dinosaurs. Ace and Chomp were dancing around, while the others were playing, or just relaxing.

"Haha, looks like Chomp and Ace are pretty good dancers." Max snickered.

Meanwhile, Zoe was watching TV, but her eyes were sparkling and a deep blush was covering her face, while she was listening to a boy with a sleek and stylish brown haircut holding a golden mic and wearing a gameshow outfit.

"So, congratulations to Roberto, the grand prize winner, here on gobble gobble brain gobble." The boy announced in a mid tone. "If you would like to be on brain gobble, aha, we're auditioning contestants right now, especially cute ones. Haha."

"Oooh, a game show!" Pinkie said.

"I don't get this one at all. Sure, the rules make sense, but that host, while cute, is a bit of a egoist." Sunset said.

Zoe turned to sunset. "Shut it! No one is cuter than Tommy K!"

"Ages are 16 or under, and this week is Dinosaur Trivia, alright!" Tommy announced.

The announcement of the Dinosaur quiz got their attention.

"What will the grand prize be? One cool million!" Tommy announced a huge paycheck. "Not only that…. He'll also receive this solid gold triceratops, not available in any store!"

"Oh yeah, I want that!" Max said with the same eye sparkle and blush.

"A Dinosaur Game Show? Now, that I gotta be part of!" Rainbow exclaimed in excitement.

"Let's do it then! The D-Team will win that show!" Max cheered.

"Yeah, it can be fun." Rex agreed smiling.

"And I'll get to meet Tommy K!" Zoe said, eyes still sparkling and blushing.

"But how do we..?" Sunset started.

"Never fear, Spike Taylor is here!" Spike said, sliding into the room. He then pulled out stacks of papers. "Your entry forms. I filled them all out."

"How did you get those filled so quickly?" Sonata asked in surprise.

"It doesn't matter, let's hurry and send em in!" Max said.

"But look, its says you have to fill out the forms on their website." Rex pointed out. This made spike fall over with the papers as he was dreaming about remodeling the D-lab.

"So? Let's get logged on and fill one out!" Rainbow said.

"Took the words right out of my mouth!" Max said smirking.

"Alright! Who's entering that show?" Spike said. "The rules say only three members are allowed on one team for this subject."

"I think Rainbow might be one of them, since she does know a lot about dinosaurs than the rest of us." Rex said.

"But don't forget, we still have to keep an eye out, as Rainbow still hasn't gotten a you know what." Sunset said referring to the dinos.

"Didja have to bring that up? I'm the only one here who hasn't gotten one yet." Rainbow slumped.

"Well, wut kinda dinosaur are ya lookin for?" AJ asked.

"Wind types. A really fast one like Ace." Rainbow said.

"We haven't seen a wind type Dinosaur yet, but maybe we might when one shows up soon." Max said.

"As for us, I think Zoe, Max and I will enter to give you guys a better chance." Rex said.

"Alright, today we start heavy duty training! Everyday until the show, I'm gonna be hammering my knowledge of dinosaurs into your brains!" Spike exclaimed, with flames in his eyes.

"They're really fired up about this." Sunset said. As Rex sighed.

"But it's a good thing we aren't in this." Rainbow said. "You all got your dinos. This time, I'm gonna get one for sure!"

(Play Yugioh GX: Get Your Game On!)

(zooming up on a body of water, the D-Team is seen. The guitars kick in and Pterosaurs flew near the D-team and flew into the blue skies. They then flew past the Humane six and Sonata as the prehistoric era was seen)

Chilling out with the crew in the schoolyard

(Max is seen, running along side his baby version of a baby Triceratops.)

Finding trouble, never working too hard

(Rex is seen next, running with a baby Carnotaurus.)

Back in class they never taught us this

(Zoe was next, running with a baby Parasaurolophus)

Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss!

(The humane six, Sonata and the D-Team join up as the three dinos glowed)

Tough times, hard climbs

(Max takes out a card with an adult Triceratops and sweeps it along a handheld device.)

We'll take them all together!

(Rex and Zoe follow suite and swipe their cards as well.)

Right now, let's go!

(Both groups stand together with the three dinos at full strength with the dinos roaring.)

Game on, get your game on!

(Chomp and Max stand side by side as Chomp charges in.)

Come on, you better play your cards right!

(Rex draws a new card as Ace stands ready for battle.)

(Zoe and Paris are right behind them as Zoe performs one of her unique moves when using her own move cards.)

You'll make the grade and win this fight!

(Sonata runs with a card in her hand, while being chased by a T-rex and tosses the card to Rex, who swipes it. A guitar solo then comes out as multiple dinos from the different elements ready their own signature moves. Among them are Terry, Spiny and Tank, tackling the Alpha gang and Terry biting Dr. Z's beard.)

You'll make the grade somehow,

(As all of the dinos begin fighting, on yeah, Max and Sunset give each other a high five. Then all of them are shown.)

Game on, get your game on!

Come on, you better play your cards right!

(Chomp, Ace, Paris, even Terry, Spiny and Tank in their full forms dash around one another, fighting for what's at stake on both sides!)

Come on, and get your game on!

(All three raise their cards into the air as the title shows, Terry's roar shaking it up just like in the original opening.)

The D-team wasn't the only ones training for the show. At Zeta Point, Dr. Z was training the main trio for the show too. Though his methods were a bit...more extreme. The three were tied to bungee cords as they were reaching for a red button.

"Times up!" Z called as the three were electrocuted. They then were sent back into the poles. "You're too slow! How do you expect to win when you can't reach the buzzer!?"

"I was nearly there." Ursula muttered.

"I need that money to fix the equipment, and you three better win it! And I don't care how much you lie, cheat and steal to win it!" Z shouted.

After some more practice, the Alpha Gang took off in a helicopter, the shape of a brachiosaurus.

"Are you sure this chopper is safe?" Ursula questioned. "Dr. Z said that some of the equipment needed repairs." Suddenly, one of the lights blinked red.

"The battery's ok, since the red lights blinking." Ed said.

"That's the fuel light, were out of gas!" Ursula said.

"Well, at least the battery's working…" Zander said before the chopper took a nose dive into the ocean.

Meanwhile, the D-team was already at the studio.

"This is where it all happens, kids." Spike said.

"Wow, I've never been to real live TV studio before!" Pinkie said, while holding Fang in her arms.

"Are you all ready to win that prize money?" Spike asked, as the D-team, besides Rex cheering.

The group entered the building, but they were immediately stopped by the security guards.

"Hold it! No pets allowed in the building!" One snapped gesturing to the dinosaurs the team had with them.

"Rules are rules, guys. Let's find somewhere they can be." Sunset said putting them in a back lot.

"Stay here, we'll be back in case of trouble, and don't wander off." Rex said.

"Razor, keep yer eyes on them, and don't let any of them wander off." Aj said.

"You as well, Blaze. Make sure the group is in order." Sunset added.

The two nodded and looked after the others. Paris was easy to watch, as she fell asleep on the spot. Ace and Chomp tried to wander off, following a guy sending fossil bones to another part of the studio, but Razor and Blaze quickly stopped them, by stepping on their tails, much to their discomfort.

Maya, who was a bit more grown than the others, due to having her son, acted as a mother and looked after her baby, while she also looked out for the others near her.

Fang meanwhile saw something, which looked to be a rubber steak and chewed on it, ignoring everything else for the moment.

Scales just laid down and waited for his owner to return.

With the group, they all made it to the studio where brain gobble happens.

"Wow! So this is a TV Studio. It's even better than I thought it would be." Max said.

"Don't look now, but there's the pretty boy." Sunset said.

"Eeek! You're right, there's Tommy K!" Zoe squealed, as she saw the host and ran to him. "Tommy K, I'm Zoe!"

"Oh, he is a handsome hunk!" A voice said as zipped passed Zoe. It was Ursula, wearing a high school uniform, which made her look ridiculous. She bashed the guy Tommy was talking to and held his hand. "So nice to meet you."

"Is that Ursula?" Sonata said.

"Yeah, she's not fooling us with that getup." Rainbow glared at the disguised Alpha gang member.

"What are you doing here!? There's no way you're 16!" Sunset snapped at the woman.

"Hey, brat! Ever heard of MYOB!?" Ursula snapped.

"Ursula, calm down!" Zander said, wearing a high school uniform as well.

"Yeah, you sound all angry like an adult." Ed added, wearing one as well.

Ursula knew she was blowing their cover and calmed down, and acted all dumb.

"Well, I give them props for acting." Rarity said.

"Not to mention those are the ugliest outfits I've ever seen." Rex added in.

"That's for sure." Zoe added in.

"They might be here just to win the money, but we might as well keep an eye on them if a Dinosaur appears." Sunset whispered.

"Yeah." Sonata said.

"To your places everyone, we will begin in a few minutes! Tommy K, we need you at your starting spot!" the director said.

"On my way." Tommy said as he lazily walked by the group.

A little later, the D-team were in position, along with the Alpha Gang. The lights dimmed, cameras started up, and they were now live. The spotlight dimmed on Tommy.

"This is gobble gobble brain gobble, the show where you answer or get eaten." He said, before going into a full energy talk. "And I'm your host, Tommy K, here in this week's game show, Kids Dinosaur Trivia!" He announced. "Up first, the D-Team, from Sanjo City!" The three heads opened their mouths, revealing the D-Team.

"Alright, we're here to win it!" Max called with Zoe and Rex agreeing.

"And their opponents, Alpha High school team from Hideout Island in the South Pacific!" Tommy called, revealing the Alpha Gang.

"Were so smart, you won't believe were in high school, but we really are, I swear!" Ursula called, making the girls who were watching from a distance sweat drop.

"Today's winner will take home this solid gold Triceratops, not to mention one million smackers. Our first Question please!" Tommy called.

"Name the dinosaur from the Cretaceous period, whose name means 'Tyrant Lizard'." The woman announced.

Max was ready to press his buzzer, but Ursula beat him to it, slammin it down. That training paid off.

"Tyrannosaurus!" She called.

"Correct." Tommy said, making her sneer.

"Missed it. Sorry, guys." Max said to his team.

"It was the first question. We'll get the second one.' Rex said.

"Here's question number two." Tommy said.

"This dinosaur's name translated means 'Egg Thief'." The woman said.

"Oviraptor!" Spike called.

"Correct!" Tommy said, before falling over, knowing it wasn't one of the competitors in the game. Hearing Spike call the answer made the girls fall over as well.

"You're not supposed to answer, dad!" Max called, feeling embarrassed that his father answered.

"Give me a break." Rainbow muttered facepalming in embarrassment.

"Sorry, it just slipped out." Spike said as two security guards took him out.

"Here's the third question, they'll get it for…" Rainbow said as the question started up, but something hit Rex's buzzer unintentionally.

"Your answer?" Tommy asked.

"What? I didn't press it! It went off on its own!" Rex exclaimed.

Rainbow quickly noticed a hand retreating to Ed. She knew they pressed his buzzer so he would get it wrong. Ed then quickly hit his and answered correctly.

"Those cheaters..!" Rainbow said under her breath.

"Incorrect answers get you gobbled." Tommy K said as rex's booth closed up. "But he'll be allowed back in three rounds. Now, onto the next question!"

Meanwhile, in another studio, a show was being shot, until one of them unleashed a powerful gust of wind from a machine. The act caused a dino capsule to roll and slam into a rock, bursting it open, and reveal a wind dinosaur. From the wind, the card glowed brightly and shifted into a somewhat japanese type of raptor. This purple scaled dinosaur was named Utahraptor. The actors ran from the stage as he roared.

This caused the holders and shots to beep.

"Another dinosaur." Rainbow said. "And its signals coming from…"

"In here?!" Everyone asked in shock.

Rainbow noticed Ursula was talking to Z from her holder and talked to Ed to continue the game on his own, while they grab it.

"What do we do? We can't leave the game." Max said.

"Leave it to us. We can get it." Rainbow said.

"Rex and I are coming with you. Zoe, think you can handle this on your own?" Max asked.

"Sure, go on ahead." Zoe said.

They all split up as the Alpha Gang and D-team with mane six combed the studio.

Meanwhile, Utahraptor was going on a studio tour of different sets, from samurai to mystery, to comedy and cooking.

The group all made it to one studio to see the predator.

"Woah, that's a Utahraptor, and it's a wind dinosaur!" Rex said.

"Finally!" Rainbow exclaimed in joy. "My partner is right there!"

"Not so fast!" Ursula sid. "That Utahraptor is coming with us!"

"What're you gonna do about it?" Max asked.

"Watch. Come on out, Tank!" Ursula called and swiped Tanks card. The Saichania blasted out from the earth and roared.

"What're you waiting for, get in there already!" Rainbow said.

"Uh, right!" Max said. "Wait, where's chomp and the others?"

"AH! We left them at the back of the studio!" Rex said in panic.

Not all of them, apparently. Tumbling out of a prop set was fang as he wrestled with his rubber steak. It fell out of his jaws and rolled off at the entrance. He growled and followed it. Eventually, he came to the battle where everyone noticed.

"Hey look, its Fang!" Rainbow said.

"Came at a perfect time!" Rex smiled in relief.

"Let's get this party started!" Pinkie exclaimed and called his card. She twirled her shot and engaged Fang's card into the slot of the shot. "Energize!" She called and spun her wheel, making fire swirl around her. "Unleash the power!" She shot Fangs card out and he appeared from the flames and roared.

"That hard to name dinosaur doesn't scare us!" Ursula taunted.

"Fang, get in there and show Tank how to party!" Pinkie exclaimed.

Fang roared in agreement and charged in. He bashed Tank in the side, making her slide on the ground.

Seeing his chance, Utahraptor quickly ran back into the studio, while only Rainbow noticed.

"Oh no ya don't, you're not getting away!" Rainbow called as she ran to the predator and her group didn't noticed since they were focused on the battle.

Soon enough, he arrived back at the Brain Boggle set and hid behind some of the extras. He was somewhat confused and slightly scared by his new grounds.

"Hey, where are you!?" Rainbow called, missing track of the predator. Utahraptor poked his head out, spotting the cyan girl looking around. She was looking for him, but for what reason?

"Look, I don't wanna hurt you, I just need you to be my partner." She called out. "Everyone of my friends have dinosaurs with them, and I want one as well. I'm looking for an awesome, fast and cool wind dinosaur. You're the perfect match to what I'm looking for. I just want to be your friend. Please, come on out. I promise I won't hurt you."

Utahraptor saw that glow in her eyes and came out, ready to work with her.

"Now, you need a cool name. You're really fast, and I don't wanna name you after a certain blue hedgehog. So what about…" Rainbow then smiled. "Whirlwind?"

The Utahraptor lightly roared, liking his new name. He then licked Rainbows cheek.

"Haha, hey, that tickles." She giggled, as Whirlwind nuzzled her. "So, how about we head back and help our friends?"

Whirlwind happily agreed to the idea, and he surprised her by picking Rainbow up with his teeth, gently placing her on his back.

Before he could move through, Tank and Fang crashed into the studio and caused a panic right before the last question could be answered.

Whirlwind quickly moved out of the way, while rainbow held tightly.

"Tank, get in there, and get rid of that whatever it's called!" ursula called.

Tank roared and bashed Fang in the face with her club, making him roar in pain. He fell to the ground, as she kept hitting him in the face, starting to weaken him.

"You meanie, stop that!" Pinkie said.

"Oh no!" Rainbow said.

"Gah! This is not in my contract!" Tommy K said running away.

Whirlwind decided to take action. Without any of the fighters noticing, Whirlwind roared and charged in at fast speed, and bashed Tank in the face, making her step back and allow Fang to recover.

"Anyone order backup!?" Rainbow asked smirking on her dino's back while Whirlwind roared at the Alpha Gang.

(Cue- Max Anarchy Ost: Mortified)

Whirlwind put Rainbow down and dashed at Tank with great speed. He slashed her with his claws and did hard kicks to her face, and used his killer claws to do major damage. He flipped back and stood ready on Rainbows next command.

"Holy cow, he's fast!" Ed said.

"GAH! I can't believe another dinosaur sided with the brats!" Ursula shouted in anger.

"How did you and that Utahraptor bonded so quickly?" Rex asked in shock.

"Knowing Rainbow, she took a different path." Sunset said.

"Also, his name is Whirlwind." Rainbow added.

"What is it with these names?" Zander asked.

"I don't know, but I'll finish this now. With Dino Swing!" Ursula said, activating a new move card.

Tank glowed purple and roared. She bashed Whirlwind, causing him to swing back and making the tank herbivore grab his tail. Using her strength, she started swinging Whirlwind and let go, making him crash into a wall, making him moan in pain.

"Whirlwind!" Rainbow shouted as she ran to him.

"If only we had our dinos, then we could make em pay!" AJ said.

"Yes but… how would they know exactly where we are?" Fluttershy asked.

With them not noticing, Scales came in slowly and saw the conflict. He was concerned that the show took longer than expected. Seeing what was happening, he quickly turned and ran back to the team.

Rainbow was stroking Whirlwinds snout, while he tried to get back up.

"You have to get up, boy. I know you can do it." She encouraged.

"Encouraging that dinosaur will not help! Tank, get in there and finish it off!" Ursula shouted.

Tank roared and charged in. Seeing this, Rainbow got up and held her arms out, in a protective manner.

"You wanna get to him, you gotta get through me!" She shouted.

"Rainbow, get outta there!" Sunset shouted.

"No! I'm not leaving Whirlwind! I'll never leave a friend hanging, not even my partner!" She called out, eyes burning with undying loyalty.

"Unleash the power!" Rarity said as Scales was fired out and slammed into Tank as he roared.

"Scales!" Everyone said.

"But how did he…?" Rainbow asked before she saw the others ran out and join the others.

"Scales must've saw the fight and brought everyone!" Max said, relieved to see Chomp and the others.

Scales wasn't gonna drag this out for the others to power up. He's been waiting long enough, and now he desires to end this.

"Hey, that Saltasaurus is acting funny…" Ed said.

"Scales… I think he wants to finish the fight." Rarity said.

"Then you're gonna need this." Sonata said, tossing Rarity Water Whip.

"Thanks, darling." Rarity thanked.

"Give one for Whirlwind, Rarity." Rainbow said to the fashionesta.

"Scales, I'll gladly give you request. Use Water Whip, go!" Rarity said as Scales glowed blue.

"Lets see how Scales handles that move." Sunset said.

The results were not what they would expect. Scales roared as water gathered around him and created a water whip. To their shock, the power of the Saltasaurus created two whips instead of one.

"Wow-wee!" Pinkie said.

"Crazy!" Rainbow said in awe.

"Two water whips!?" Zander asked in shock and panic.

Scales put one on his tail and used his long neck to grab the other. He then spun around and hit Tank effortlessly, knocking him into a set that looked awfully familiar to a stage in a familiar fighting game. With each passing fast hit, a set of booming beats were heard.

No seriously, it's Jago's ultra music on his own stage.

Releasing Tank in the air, Scales swung his body and deleted the final blow, smacking Tank with both water whips and making her crash into a wall.

ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Scales stomped the floor with both hind legs and rose his body up while bellowing.

SUPREME VICTORY!

"Heck yeah!" Rainbow said.

"Now that was a finishing blow!" Max cheered.

Tank moaned in pain, and she glowed purple, returning to her card.

Ed couldn't believe it, and as he was dazed, accidentally pressed his buzzer.

"How'd they beat Tank and get that Utahraptor… oof!" Ed said and fell to the ground.

"Utahraptor is correct!" The woman called.

"Uh...yaaaaay!" Tommy cheered. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! Congratulations to the Alpha High School Team!"

"What?! That didn't count!" Rainbow called out.

"Uh...they beat Tank." Zander said getting up.

"Grrrrr!" Ursula growled and ran to grab the million dollar check. "Well, they won't get this, because we won this fair and square!" She said and she ran off, with Zander following while dragging Ed by the feet.

The crew was in amazement at Scales in the opposing set and Whirlwind on the other end, still behind Rainbow.

"Uh… maybe you should bring them back in?" Rex asked.

"Huh? Oh, right!" Rainbow said as Scales and Whirlwind were returned to their owners.

"Uh...that's our show folks. See you next week on gobble gobble brain gobble." Tommy said before fainting.

Later, as the Alpha gang yet again got into an explosive departure, the crew was leaving the studio, but Max and Spike were in shame. Not to mention Zoe was a little upset and depressed.

"They've been like that ever since we left, what's up with them?" Sonata asked.

"They're just upset that they lost." Rainbow said. "But hey, it's like sports, you win some you lose some. And though we lost the game, we did get a new dinosaur, and better that, I got a new partner." She swiped her new card and summoned a smaller version of Whirlwind and hugged him.

"Yup. So don't feel so down you guys." Rex said.

"I know that.." Max said. "But I really really wanted that golden triceratops!"

"And I was counting on that one million dollars!" Spike cried.

"And Tommy K was a loser!" Zoe whined.

Everyone else sighed as the three cried out into the night.

"Yup, that's gonna take awhile to get over." Sonata said.

Rainbow: Don't ask me, you're the one who was taking care of him.

Rex: You've been giving so much junk food the last few days, Max. That's the reason he's sick.

Fluttershy: Maybe it's something else? Wait, where's Rarity?

Zoe: Wait, she's WHERE?!

Rarity: A Styracosaurus in Maui?! So much for a relaxing vacation.

Ursula: We'll be taking that Styracosaurus, fancy brat. And It will be faster than you can say, "Waikiki"!

Max: Rarity needs us, ready everyone!?
