Chapter 4: Bungle in the Jungle

In the amazon jungle, a storm was raining down hard. Nearby, a lizard was taking shelter from the rain, until the ground eroded on a capsule and sent it into a stream. It opened on a rock, and from a rush of water, it activated. The lizard was surprised by the blue glow as it got bigger and bigger until a Saltasaurus formed.

Behind the Roar: Paleontologists claim that the Saltasaurus name meant "lizard from Salta", meaning that it was a lizard, too. Although that is what its Latin name is derived from, any real paleontologist would know that dinosaurs and lizards were in actuality hardly related except for both being reptiles.

As the Salto appeared, the Lizard grew curious as it slithered it tongue at it, gaining its attention.

(zooming up on a body of water, the D-Team is seen. The guitars kick in and Pterosaurs flew near the D-team and flew into the blue skies. They then flew past the Humane six and Sonata as the prehistoric era was seen)

Chilling out with the crew in the schoolyard

(Max is seen, running along side his baby version of a baby Triceratops.)

Finding trouble, never working too hard

(Rex is seen next, running with a baby Carnotaurus.)

Back in class they never taught us this

(Zoe was next, running with a baby Parasaurolophus)

Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss!

(The humane six, Sonata and the D-Team join up as the three dinos glowed)

Tough times, hard climbs

(Max takes out a card with an adult Triceratops and sweeps it along a handheld device.)

We'll take them all together!

(Rex and Zoe follow suite and swipe their cards as well.)

Right now, let's go!

(Both groups stand together with the three dinos at full strength with the dinos roaring.)

(Chomp and Max stand side by side as Chomp charges in.)

Come on, you better play your cards right!

(Rex draws a new card as Ace stands ready for battle.)

(Zoe and Paris are right behind them as Zoe performs one of her unique moves when using her own move cards.)

You'll make the grade and win this fight!

(Sonata runs with a card in her hand, while being chased by a T-rex and tosses the card to Rex, who swipes it. A guitar solo then comes out as multiple dinos from the different elements ready their own signature moves. Among them are Terry, Spiny and Tank, tackling the Alpha gang and Terry biting Dr. Z's beard.)

(As all of the dinos begin fighting, on yeah, Max and Sunset give each other a high five. Then all of them are shown.)

(Chomp, Ace, Paris, even Terry, Spiny and Tank in their full forms dash around one another, fighting for what's at stake on both sides!)

(All three raise their cards into the air as the title shows, Terry's roar shaking it up just like in the original opening.)

At Zeta Point, Dr. Z has gotten the reading of the Salto in the Amazon forest. And yet, the Alpha gang themselves are playing chess.

"Hello!? Am I talking to myself here!? I need you three bozos to go out on a mission now!" Z snapped at them.

"Yes, sir. Your fearless team stand ready!" Ursula saluted as she kicked the table. "There, I made my move."

Her kick knocked all of Zanders pieces off surrounding her queen, which was the only one left.

"Incredible…" Zander said.

"Well look at that, I did win!" Ursula said.

At The Taylor Household…

As the team returned to the Taylor house, they immediately saw Max giggling as he quickly hid inside of a closet below the stairs.

"Okay Max, what is it you're up to with Chomp this time, dare I ask?" Rarity asked.

"Shh! What I'm doing is testing out Chomps sense of smell." Max explained quietly.

"Why are you doing that?" Rex asked.

"Cause it's fun. I'm hiding to see if he has a good enough nose to find me." He explained while snickering. "Quiet, here he comes!"

As max closed the door, Chomp leaped down from the stairs. Knowing Pinkie would just reveal the hiding place, Rainbow and AJ kept her in place by holding her, making sure she doesn't do anything funny.

"Whats up, Chomp? Looking for something?" Rex said as Chomp dashed to the closet and immediately clawed on it as Max opened the door.

"Hey, you found me! Great job, Chomp!" Max said. He tried to hug him, but the little Tricera jumped and tackled something. He pulled it out revealing dog food. "Huh? You smelled dog food?"

"Good nose. At least he won't go hungry." Rex chuckled while the girls giggled.

"Thats right, looks like your smell test was a success." Zoe said.

"Yeah, he'll be able to find me so long as i smell like Dog food." Max said before sniffing himself. "Speaking of smells…"

"Your mom made hamburgers tonight, awesome!" Rainbow said.

"That just ain't right, and I'm from a farm." Aj said.

"Well, many people do eat meat to get the protein they need to grow." Rex said. "But I guess everyone has a different diet."

"Well AJ, you're definitely missing out, my mom's hamburgers are the best in the world." Max said as he ran for the kitchen. "And don't mind if I do."

"Hey! Aki, he's trying to sneak a patty!" Rainbow said. On que, Aki grabbed the plate before Max could grab one.

"Thank you for the heads up, Rainbow." She thanked. "Remember Max, you can't eat one until dinner."

"I guess Max and Chomp are alike in appetite, huh?" Sunset said before the holders and shots beeped.

"A hit!" Rainbow said.

They all moved to the D-Lab immediately, where Reese explained the situation.

"It's smack dab in the middle of the Amazon?" AJ asked.

"The biggest Rainforest known to house many exotic plants and animals. Oh what I wouldn't give to come along." Spike said holding a ton of gear.

"You know it's impossible to come without a holder or Shot, Dad." Max said.

"You can count on us, Dr. Taylor." Rex promised.

"Alright then. I trust you all have the proper remedies for the forest." Spike said as he gave Max many medical medicine for the forest.

"We'll be fine, Rarity packed all of those, since she's the fancy type." Rainbow said.

"I beg your pardon?" Rarity asked.

"Okay then, be careful." Spike said as they were transported, but not the remedies max was holding.

The team all transported to the Amazon forest, where the fog was pretty thick.

"I've seen pics of the Amazon, but this amazing." Sunset said in awe.

"Not amazing when you have your feet in mud." Rarity said pulling her leg out of a mud hole and having her shoes covered in mud. "Oh, these were my brand new shoes."

"Maybe you shouldn't have come then?" Max said.

"Rarity just whines over her nice things getting ruined sometimes. You get used to it." Rainbow said.

"I don't have any problem with gettin dirty. Now, anyone see the dino in this fog?" AJ asked.

"Not that I know of, but we need to be careful. This jungle is dangerous, so we need to be-AHHHHH!" Max didn't see the cliff and he slipped, falling head first in a shallow micky pond.

"Were you saying you needed to be careful?" Rainbow said helping him up.

"Could Have been worse. It might've been quicksand." Rex said.

"Yeah, will that cliff needs a sign." Max said wiping the muck off his face. He realized someone was missing. "Hey, where's Chomp?"

"Hm?" Rex looked around and didn't see him.

"I know he was with us when we transported here." Zoe said.

Rainbow facepalmed. "Duh! I'm such a dolt!"

"What, why?" Max said.

"Pets like chomp act on instinct. Since you were hiding from him, he now thinks you're playing hide and seek still and it's your turn to find him."

Max gasped. "No, not at a time like this!" He looked back and bellowed in the forest. "Chomp!? Come on, pal! Where are you?!"

There was no response.

"He must have walked away when we weren't looking." Fluttershy said.

"Max, call him back with your holder." Sunset said.

"Great idea." Max pressed the button to call Chomp, but the Holder remained off.

"Great, it must've gotten wet when you took a dive." Sonata said.

"Now what!?" He asked.

Suddenly, Rainbows D-shot was beeping lightly while generating a little bit if Electricity.

"Hey wait a second. I shot chomp outta my d-shot before, so maybe it can locate him." Rainbow said.

"Amazing! The D-Shot can be used as a locator." Rex said.

"But, we still have to find the dinosaur that's out here in the jungle." Aj said.

"Let's split up into two teams. Me, Pinkie, Fluttershy and Rainbow will go with Max to find Chomp. The rest of you, find the Dinosaur. We'll keep in contact with our D-Shots." Sunset instructed.

"Yeah." they said before hearing a roar.

"Although I don't think we have to look very far. Look!" Sonata said seeing Saltasaurus roaming the jungle as its body was over the canopy.

"It's a Saltasaurus! They lived in the Late Cretaceous!" Rainbow said.

"You can tell by those armored bumps on its back." Rex said.

"Should we, I dunno, battle it now?" Rainbow said before a blue flash appeared.

Out of a gus of water came Spiny at his full size, ready to fight.

"It's Spiny! That means the Alpha gang's here too!" Rex said.

"Not that Old Lady again!" Pinke said.

"LISTEN YOU LITTLE BRATS! I'm not old!" Ursula shouted from behind the Spino.

The salto looked at Spiny, before it ignored him and was moving on, like it was chasing something.

"What is he looking for?" Rarity asked stepping out.

"We don't care! Get him, Spiny!" Ursula said as Spiny bashed into Saltasaurus.

"No!" Sunset shouted. "Grrr! Sonata, AJ, you and the others take care of them! Max, let's go find Chomp!"

"Right!" Max replied as they ran into the forest.

"Okay, Ahm ready!" AJ said.

"Wait, save Razor for later, he's smaller than Spiny and Salto. Iry and I got this." Sonata said taking out Iry's card.

She wheeled around and took her shot out, opening the blaster component and inserting the card in and closing it.

"Energize!" Sonata said spinning the wheel as water swirled out. "Unleash the Power!"

She shot Iry's card straight into the battle as he shook her body and roared in arrival.

"Not that Irritator Again! It's beginning to Irritate me!" Ursula said.

Spiny roared and leaped into the air.

"A Body Slam from a Spinosaurus?" Sonata said.

As Spiny went for the classic Body Press, Saltasaurus lowered his neck and defended with his armored back.

"GO! HIT HIM AGAIN!" The Alpha Gang called. Spiny charged in once again, but Sonata was the first to respond.

"Iry, get in there!" She called as the water carnivore charged and slammed Spiny in the chest and pushing him back.

All Saltasaurus knew from this is that it didn't have time to waste with two carnivores. Letting them battle, he thought, as he looked and lost sight of what he was looking for, the lizard he saw when he was awakened. He glanced back and forth until seeing the next best thing.

He saw Rarity wiping her shoes off with a towel and saw the lizard like pattern, lightly sparkling. The saltasaurus roared, getting her attention.

"Hm?" Rarity said as it walked over to her. "Eep! What do you want from me, you…!"

Saltasaurus glanced down at Rarity's boots.

"Hm? Oh, I get it now. Your name means salted lizard, so you were looking for something that resembled your kind and.." Rarity immediately realized. "And so you think that my Lizard skin boots are what you're searching for?!"

Saltasaurus roared and charged after Rarity, who immediately bolted.

"STOP! You're making a terrible assumption!" She screamed as she ran for her life.

"Rarity!" the kids and group shouted.

"Ah! The Saltasaurus is getting away!" Ed shouted.

"After it, Spiny!" Ursula said.

"Iry, stop him!" Sonata shouted. Iry stepped in front of Spiny, stopping the Alpha Gang in their tracks.

"Sorry, Old lady, but you'll have to get past us first." Sonata said.

"Grrr! Zander, put that siren in her place with that move card Dr. Z gave us!" Ursula said.

"Oh, right! He did give us a new one." Zander said taking a new card out. "Here goes! Tail Smash!" Spiny glowed blue and roared. He charged in and swiped Iry with his tail. Iry fell as Spiny continued bashing her with his Tail.

"Iry, no!" Sonata said.

"Yes, now Spiny, finish her off!" Ursula said.

Spiny continued to bash her, as Sonata's D-Shot was beeping and blinking red.

"Iry won't last much longer!" Rainbow said.

"Not on my watch!" Rex said as he pressed a button and a new card slid out. "Sonata, catch!" He threw the move card to her as she caught it.

"What's this?" She asked.

"No time to explain! Use it, quickly!" He called.

"Alright!" She opened the jaws of her shot and inserted the card. Loaded, she spun the wheel, as light energy swirled around her. "Go, Life-Force Swap!" She fired at Iry, as she roared and bit Spiny. Both of them glowed blue as the Spino started to grow tired, like he was beaten. Iry regained her lost energy and stood back up, roaring.

"Hey! That's not fair, using that card!" Ursula shouted.

"Now that's a move card!" Rainbow smirked.

"Take it out while you can!" Zoe said.

"Right!" She popped out another card and loaded it. "Water Whip!" Iry roared and her tail was covered in water. She whipped Spiny, smacking his face, until she grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Unable to continue with the fight, Spiny growled and glowed blue, returning to his card.

"And that's a wrap." Sonata said as Iry roared in victory.

"Hey, where'd AJ go?" Rainbow said.

"After the Saltasaurus. For some reason, it thinks Rarity's new boots are one of its kind." Zoe said.

Rarity was still running from Saltasaurus until Max and the others arrived.

"Hmm, I have an idea." Rarity said.

Saltasaurus moved on Rarity until..

"HALT!" Rarity said making him stop. "I can understand you think all lizards are related to you, but you must understand that my lizard skin boots are just fake ones. It's not made of lizard skin."

Saltasaurus nodded and looked at max and Chomp.

"Oh. You want to battle them to prove you can be MY partner?"

Saltasaurus roared and faced them.

"Very well then. Last long enough to deplete chomp to a point where Max uses electric charge and survive." Rarity said.

"Alright, let's hope my Holder can work now." Max said pressing a button. Thankfully, his holder was dry enough to work now. "Yes! Let's go, Chomp!"

Chomp nodded and he was turned back into a card. "DINO-SLASH! Go, Triceratops!" Chomp blasted in lightning and roared at his full state.

The two faced off as the Saltasaurus roared.

Hey, if he survives, what are you gonna name him?" Rainbow asked the fashionista.

"Hmm...Normally I don't like dull names, but I think Scales is a perfect name for him." Rarity said.

"Why name him that?" Rainbow asked.

"Well, he was interested in my scaled boots, since he thought I was one of his own, so I think it's a name that fits him.' She explained. "Oh, and I'll keep him on me if he loses or wins, so it's perfect for him."

Scales overheard everything. But he wasn't interested in losing this fight. Chomp roared and bashed into his side. Due to the bones on his back, he only took little damage. Scales bit down on Chomps crest, while his horns grinded on the tough scales and bones on his back.

"Wow, scales is really tough." Pinkie said.

"Due to the bones on his back, it will be tough for Chomp to win." Rainbow said.

"Look out, he's gonna attack from behind!" Zoe called, but came out too late, as Scales bashed Chomps feet with his tails, causing him to fall back.

"Ooooh, that's gotta hurt!" Rainbow winced.

"Chomp, get up!" Max encouraged. As Scales moved in for the final Blow, Chomp was able to stand. While overcomed with confidence, it was blinded to his plan. At the last moment, Chomp ducked his head and threw Scales into the air.

"Nice, he got him underneath!" Rex said.

"Now's yer chance, Max!" AJ called.

"Alright! Let's finish this Chomp!" Max said, getting his move card out. "Electric Charge!"

Covered in lightning, Chomp roared and jumped into the air, bashing the Sauropod from below, dealing major damage. Chomp landed as Scales was paralyzed by the power of lightning. Landing in the water, it was enough to power up the effect and finish him off, sending Scales into his card.

"I got him!" Rainbow said as she caught Scales card.

Chomp was exhausted and fell, returning to his card as well. Max got him and swiped it, bringing him out to his baby state.

"Great job, Chomp. It's good to have you back." Max smiled as he hugged him, while the little Tricera nibbled his cheek.

"Here, Rarity." Rainbow gave Rarity Scales card. She took it and installed him into her shot. Spinning the wheel in reverse and gripping the shot, she called scales to his small baby form. Scales opened his eyes and blinked before he stood, stretching.

"Yeah, feels weird, doesn't it?" Rainbow said.

"It also feels weird having two water dinos with two of us." Sonata said.

"Oh pish posh. Scales is part of the team now. I know he'll help us out." Rarity said while she stroked his head, making him coo, waggling his long tail.

"Listen up, you brats!" Ursula said from a damaged row-blimp.

"How'd that happen?" Rainbow said.

"They must've crashed that rental on the way here." AJ said.

"Yeah, and it was on my credit card!" Zander spoke out.

"More to the point, this isn't the last you've heard of the Alpha Gang! We will return and we will win the next time you see us!" Ursula called.

"Dream on, Old Lady!" Rainbow called.

"I am not old! Got that!?" Ursula quickly snapped back.

"Wow, you three even have us doing it." AJ said.

"Guess it's a habit." Zoe giggled.

As the villians left, they heard Max's stomach growl loudly.

"Geez, Max, was that a T-rex or your stomach?" Rainbow snickered.

Back at the Taylor Household…

"Really? Scales chased me because of its name?" Rarity said.

"Sure did. His name means Lizard from Salta, so he probably thought those boots of yours were from it's kind." Spike said.

"Max, you get all of that?" Zoe asked. However, Max and Chomp weren't listening, as the two were scarfing down their dinner.

"Well look at that, those two are alike." Rex said as everyone laughed.

"Goodness, slow down you two. You both eat as if you were raised in the jungle." Aki said.

"If only she knew, huh Chomp?" Max quietly said to his partner, before they returned to their meals.

Nextime on Dinosaur king…!

Rainbow: Our first Fire Dinosaur just got located at the Great Wall of China!

Ursula: It's a Car-cara… urgh, how can anyone pronounce its name?!

Sunset: Look, another Fire Dinosaur, and that one is a Tarbosaurus!

Sonata: So, any relation to Terry?

Rex: Now look what they did! So much for my perfect Ammonite fossil!

Max: Hey, don't blame me!

AJ: Ah get the feelin that this is gonna be difficult fer the two of them.
