My Little Pony Magical Meaning

Chapter 2

The Deep Forest

Comet blearily open one eye only to shut it again as a ray of light hit it dead on. The light meant one thing.

It's morning.

So getting up shakily he crawled out of bed splashed water on his face and ate from his stock of withered apples and browning hay.

Hoofs clopping on the floor out he went.

It had been a few hours since then and Comet along with many other fillies were all standing at long tables in rows going threw what nearly every youngster thinks of as torture.

School.

The teacher was just droning on and on and Comet's mind was beginning to focus less on the lesson and more on his misery.

That is until he felt something lash at his rump from his side. Yelping he reared up for a second drawing everyone's attention to him.

The teacher blinked slow eyes and said "yes" in his drawling way.

Comet felt the eyes on him blushed and settled down lowering his head and managed to eek out a "nothing."

The teacher blinked for a moment before turning to back to the lesson at hand.

Comet glanced out of the corner of his eye and looked at his hitter, next to him "playing innocent" was a black colt with a red mane. This was Shadow, the leader of his peers and the biggest bully around here. He was the first to get his Cutie Mark, the oldest of them all, and he did NOT let anyone forget it least of all Comet.

Him and his inner circle of friends loved to torment the poor unicorn. Comet's misery was probably about one fourths their fault.

Comet sighed and tried to focus on the lesson.

Roughly two hours later the fillies all trotted outside the day was half over and class was now too.

Comet was the last to leave after gathering everything in his pack.

Slowly trotting out he was knocked sideways scattering the things from his pack. Looking up he found Shadow standing over him grinning evilly.

Comet whimpered fearing what was coming next.

But the bullies merely just laughed at him so getting up quickly he tried to run away but they cut him off.

He considered using his magic but that would just make things worse.

So for awhile Comet just sat on the ground and listened to them make fun of him and call him vile names.

But then Shadow took things a step too far.

"Its no wonder your parents didn't want you you horned beast!"

Comets eyes welled up with tears sadness overflowing in his heart, for about a second.

Then rage bubbled up and Comet finally had had enough.

Horn starting to shimmer, he got up on his legs and stomping his way over, a wind beginning to swirl he said "that is enough! Every day since I got smart enough to think you have been torturing me. Well enough is enough! What do I have to do to either get you to leave me alone or accept me?!" He said finishing his rant leaving him huffing.

Shadow taken back by both the magic in the air (not that he knew it) and Comet's bravery actually froze for a moment.

Then he frowned thinking.

There is NO WAY this little brat will be one of us, but his horn... somethings not right here! What can I do to solve this problem? OH I know!

Shadow smirked. Walking past Comet brushing his shoulder gently he steered Comet towards the end of town pointing at the forest and said "okay Comet you want to be a part of the group here's what you do. You know the "forbidden" forest" he gets a slow nod. "Well the stories say that at its center lies a supposedly "cursed" castle with a treasure inside. You manage to get there, get the the treasure back here and we'll let you into the group. Okay?"

Comet lowers his head thinking and then sighing he realized that to even get a step closer to possible happiness he had to do it.

He looks at Shadow and nods stunning the Colt, Leaving the black pony blinking he walks to the forest leaving behind a group of Ponies and Pegasi about to panic.

Well this isn't like anything I expected. Comet thinks to himself.

Comet had gone deep into the forest WAY past the area where the others tend to sneak off to and play.

This area... there was light but it was mixed with shadow and filtered as a green color. The trees were spacious enough but the forest floor was littered with bramble Comet must have stepped on a thorn twice by now.

He was thinking that there may have been an actual reason for keeping them out of here other than superstition and stories.

Comet continued to proceed through the forest in what he thought was the right direction.

It wasn't long before the forest grew more darker and fog swirled among the tree roots.

The tree began to get humongous and the roots at thick as a full grown colts leg, and twice as long.

Pretty soon Comet reached a chasm and peering around he found that the chasm encircled a piece of land. It was like a moat without the water.

Looking into the darkness below Comet could see no bottom.

Taking a closer look at the area Comet found a blog of gray to be seen in the distance.

His eyes brightened and in his head and aloud he said "the ruins!"

Comet smiled with luck I'll be home soon. He thinks.

Comet backed up and broke into a gallop and went around the chasm looking for a way to cross.

There was none.

Comet frowned thinking then casting a glance up at his horn he decides there is no choice.

He'd have to blink across.

Comet focused and felt for that fizzy feeling he'd always get when using his powers. Bringing it up to his head he let the power surge as he felt it swirl about him he pictured himself he here one moment... and ALL the way over there the next.

There was burst of light Comet opened his eyes and shook his head to clear the dizzy feeling and found himself closer to the gray shapes in the distance and across the chasm.

Grinning Comet took one step and felt himself picked up by an unseen force and flung across the chasm landing on the other side.

Comet just lay where he landed blinking. And taking deep breaths then getting up he faced the chasm thinking what in the name of the stars was that?

As he thought about the force that just tossed him he realized that there may have been more to the "curse" then he thought...
