Chapter 3

Shadows

Comet regarded the "island" across the chasm. Some strange power was keeping him out. If he wanted any chance at being accepted by the others he HAD to get over there.

Staring at the strange place he needed to reach he through of an idea.

Standing up the colt closed his eyes and focused. He felt it, that strange feeling that pulsed over him when as he used his as the other ponies called it "curse", to be honest he never understood why they called it that. Whenever he used the light in him he felt fine, even better that normal.

Bringing the light he felt inside him to the horn on his forehead he felt the energy focus on a single point, he felt that point take hold, and then.. he let loose.

A huge beam of light shot from his horn right at the island upon crossing the ground over on the other side there was huge flash of light.

Back at the village the youngsters who had told the adults about what had happened and were working with them to panic saw the flash of light even from afar and grew concerned.

Comet shook his head to clear the spots from his eyes, he looked across the chasm... and gaped.

There was wall after wall of rippling light over there like layers of curtains or blankets.

Looking at that light he knew that force was what he used now though on a grander scale.

It was magic.

Comet closed his eyes he felt those walls of lights were there with good reason but still he needed to get across so he focused.

But this time he felt something in him change.

He felt the sadness over his lack of family,the fear over not completing this and being accepted, and financially the hatred he felt for this wall.

As these emotions bubbled up his formed changed somewhat his horn which till now had been sparkling began to emit shadows rather than light, and his eyes were emitting shadows from the corner of his eyes too.

It was darkness.

His eyes opened wide, which were reveled to glow with gray, purple, and green and he let loose one more time.

The dark beam hit the walls of light crashed into it ad kept on going. Each breaking and making a sound like shattering glass.

Comet took in deep breaths and looked at the island and gave a widen grin happiness now flooding his being at the sigh of the walls gone and only a few sparkles dancing in the air left.

Gathering the light within once more port he winked out of that spot and across the chasm.

Strolling across the grass he deeper into the heart of the darkness, never noticing the moving shadow which had slunk from the nearby tree and now followed him but not before it turned glowing red eyes to look back the way the Unicorn had come and laugh to itself.
