The Real Magic (Cancelled)
Chapter 1: Prolouge
Load Full Story Next ChapterOnce upon a time, there was a mystical land called Equestria. This land is said to be one of the happiest places to live. Why? Cause it watched over by 2 princess unicorns that came from the heavens. But, the land is not without its dark history. It's said that before it was threatened by endless chaos and eternal night, and other lesser known stories. The land learned from its dark past, but some say that the place still holds secrets of many. The land still goes on strong today, though little know of the dark past, nor is it known if any will come back to haunt them…but that's unlikely. So anyway, Welcome to this land My Little Pony.
A lone stallion walked through the woods during a foggy day. It wasn't too foggy, but just enough to handicap your vision from seeing things more than 10 meters away.
The pony's flank was a solid blue, eyes were green, and had a mane and tail a shade of brown so dark it was almost black. His hair was straight, and there was nothing well fancy was about his look, other than his cutie mark.
Spirit symbol. He corrected; he strongly detested a silly name such as 'Cutie mark', and spent hours thinking of a cooler name with a good ring to it. It was a lot tougher then it seemed, he made up a whole list of names, such as Soul Tattoo, Essence Symbol, Life Marker, and many other names, but in the end he chose "Spirit Symbol."
Speaking of which, his Spirit symbol was an imperfect Sphere with a grey outline, fading into a light blue in the mantle, and a semi golden near the center with what looked like the twinkle of a blue-white star right at the heart of the Spirit symbol. He didn’t exactly know what it stood for, but least he knew that his symbol was at least a different kind of class.
The pony walked silently, being one to rarely use words when not with others. On his back he had a few pack bags filled with various objects.
So this is the land of Equestria huh? The pony, as habit over talking out loud, thought to himself as he pulled out an old map he found in a book. He'd reached it…the Land of Equestria. It was rumored to be a more of a land with an old feel to it, but with some traces of the modern times in most places; though a couple places varied from Historically old to places that were fairly modern. He heard funny tales of the land.
It was said to be a great place to live, yet a mysterious fog surrounds the land. From what details he heard, the land was accessible before, but that was almost an eon ago. The was said to have been a warfare of unknown origin that died overtime. Afterward, nature returned to the place, allowing new ponies to move in. One fateful day afterward, the fog surrounded the land… and the place became an enigma since, so he heard.
Many have tried to go through the fog, nearly all were sent back by the mysterious mist every time, few of them were never seen again. Nothing could get rid of it; Pegasus could not blow it away nor fly over it, despite their best efforts, Unicorns could not cast the fog away, and strong, deep rivers, along with hard rock got in the way of anyone trying to dig through.
This fog was impenetrable, so how does anyone know anything of it or gone though it? Mainly legends and myths. "The Mare of the Mist, and the Foal of the Fog" was the best known one.
It's said that one special mare, consisting of both a horn and a pair of wings, cast a veil of mist around her peaceful kingdom to protect against malevolent forces who'd seek to foul the fair land. The mist said to repel all who enter, more so those that have malice in their hearts.
A young lost filly however, pure and innocent, ran into the mist one day, seeking to find a friend to play with somewhere. The innocent foal, heart free of wickedness, was allowed through the fogs spell, and said to have lived her life in happiness. The fog was not restricted to Foals, only to those of a Pure Aura. So the shortened story goes.
"Meh, I heard better." He heard many legends before, and this one he loosely believed. Both horn and wings? Only things that have that are Alicorns, and those only exist in stories mostly. It's been told that combining both horn and wings on a pony can have catastrophic effects. Their magic features would weigh them down heavily, or enough that they'd have difficulty flying. And the wings, given magic is said to trail in the whole of the body, would easily misdirect the magic, and having both would ever exert the pony mind, least that's what he was told, though he wasn't completely sure, given that there were spells that gave ponies wings. Last but not least a newborn foal only had the mothers trait gene or the fathers trait gene, except in the rarest cases where mutations happened at birth, and even still, mutations often had many disabilities.
In short, real Alicorns were rare.
What set him off the most however, was how much detail was given of the land. After all, for a place so unknown, it seemed awfully known about; and the map he held, which lead him there thought a simple forest path, proved that. Plus if nearly all of the ponies never got through and or returned then it meant that there were a few ponies that knew of the land, and some wrote books, all different and placed in the myth section.
Plus, the mist may just be some illusion and it may really have been just some guards casting spells making them turn away. If that was the case, Ravi managed to avoid them, for he was surely in the land. Whatever was behind the Mist, he made his way past somehow and was about to be another one to see this land for his own eyes, and all he had to do was walk in. Ravi checked his map again.
But all legends aside, the closest town is Ponyville. Sounds like a good enough place for me to find a place to seek some solitude and make a living. The town was not too far, it was only a few more minutes walking forward and he'd be there. He believed the land wasn't all that special; just another "Bermuda triangle" thing, for he gone though with ease. Right now, he was mostly interested in making a new living in a new place, not folklore.
Well RaviStarlight, are you ready? It's a new day, a new land, and most importantly, a new start. I wonder what'll happen this time around. Hopefully the ponies are a bit more sensible here then back in Mareica. He remembered…his life then, and it wasn't great, nopony understood him nor could he get along with anypony. Ravi decided not to think about his life on that; otherwise he'd might get depressed and or distracted. He hoped at least here ponies would be at least a tad bit wiser and less ignorant.
RaviStarlight trotted throughout the forest, to the new town and new life of Ponyville.
