A Tale of Time and Space
Chapter 3
Previous Chapter Next ChapterTwilight woke up the next morning much easier than yesterday. She had stayed up late last night,
but that was because she had the energy, not because she forced herself to be. She looked up at her
window to take in the sun’s warm blanket over her face. Once she was done getting rejuvenated she
turned to get out of bed, but something was there. Luna! Oh wait… she remembered everything now. The
meeting, the story, everything. It all flashed back into her mind as she saw the sleeping beauty lay on her
bed. She usually had a dark aura about her, but now, as she slept, she looked like that of an innocent foal.
She was so vulnerable, any pony could’ve just came and kidnapped her because of how unprotected she
was. But she felt safe, she felt loved in that room. After spending countless nights on a rock, sleeping on a
bed with a ‘family’ member must’ve been an amazing feeling for her.
“Oh, my, it seems as if I accidentally slept here. I apologize.” she said waking up startled.
“Don’t worry about it, your welcome any time.” Luna started blushing and got off the bed. She
shook herself to try and wake up and get a royal posture, embarrassed about sleeping with a mare she
hardly knew.
“Well, I don’t plan on sleeping with you if that’s what you mean, but I will be back to check up
on your progress on the book. Goodbye my subject, and good luck.” she said right before she opened the
window to the balcony and flew off towards Canterlot. As the things rushed back into her mind she
realized she needed to get back to reading. Especially if she planned on mastering the theory of
wormholes and dimension crossing.
She walked downstairs with her book so that she can read it on her desk, where she would
probably be at for the next week. She did tell Rarity she’ll hang out with her. She decided to make a few
exceptions to postpone her studies if it came to friends. But since nothing was planned today, she would
take this time to study more.
A few hours later... She had spent the last few hours reading the exact same paragraph over and
over. Every time she read it, she came up with a new hypothesis of what it meant, only to figure out it was
wrong, because it would go against the things Luna had said. Casimare effects, nieghxotic matter, black
holes, Einstallien, all the doctors and names were so new to her. But after reading them over hundreds of
times, she could say that she knew these things and ponies personally. But she would keep drawing out
equations on paper, and then crumple them up for Owlicious to throw away, and Spike to give her a new
sheet, so that she can repeat.
“Twilight, are you sure this is healthy? I mean making lists about lists about lists is one thing.
But time travel, world hopping, worms that eat holes out of you! Doesn’t that seem a bit crazy?”
Twilight slowly turned to Spike with a look of sheer anger on her face and gave off a growling
noise. Spike winced at the growl and got back to fetching more sheets, worried that Twilight s getting a
bit too obsessed. He brought the new piece of paper to her, only to get it snatched up like a homeless pony
would take a coin bag. After a few minutes of silence and writing an unexpected shriek unfurled from
Twilights throat.
“I GOT IT! I GOT IT! I GOT IT!” she said skipping in circles, and looking as happy as can be.
You would’ve never thought she was on the verge of insanity a few minutes ago, but she was. Spike was
relieved she found what ever she was looking for before she did something she would regret.
“Look this is the equation” She stuck the paper in front of Spikes face so close that it toched the
tip of his nose, showing a very confusing line of numbers and letters.
“uhh, very interesting Twi, well can we go outside now?” he said moving the paper from his
nose.
“Well, I guess I should treat my self to something. Where do you want to go?”
“You know where… hay fries, extra crispy.” he said trying to act cool and slick. Twilight just
giggled and opened the door to take him to his favorite café. She looked back at the book, but this time she
didn’t need to stare at it. She had found its secret, well, one of its secrets. But that was good enough for
her right now. She looked away with ease and closed the door behind her, finally relieved that she had
accomplished a huge feat in one day.
At the café, Spike was scarfing down the fries with so little manners. Twilight had a small salad
to fill her up with energy, but not to where she would be tired after eating. She did need to go back and
practice the formula a few times just to make sure it was accurate.
“Hey Twiiiiliiiight! Look what I found!” came a squeaky voice out in the distance
“I know who that is.” exclaimed Twilight with a smile.
A pink earth pony came bouncing into view all the way to the table they were sitting at. But she
had something on her back. Riding her back! Twilight didn’t notice it until she was a few feet away.
Twilight gave the strange creature a strange stare.” Look, it’s a bigger, not as cooler version of Gummy!”
said Pinkie Pie holding the green, skinny, bipedal, reptile in front of Twilights face.
“Raaah!” it opened its mouth to reveal a row, top and bottom, of small, sharp teeth.
“Ahhh, I think he likes you! Just don’t get too close to him, he bites like Gummy, but he has sharp
teeth. But there small. But there still sharp. Does it matter if they’re small or not?” Pinkie kept talking
and talking, because of how excited she was at that moment.” Do you know what it even is?”
“I cant say I do. But I might have a book of it.” Twilight got up and galloped back to the tree,
Pinkie following with her new friend, and Spike trying to catch up while eating his fries.
They made it inside and Twilight went straight for her shelves. She looked at all the names of her
books to find something that could help. “ Hey, would this one work?” Pinkie said holding up a book with
a fossil footprint on it.
“Prehistoric creatures of Equestria. Let me check.” She was flipping through pages while Pinkie
was blowing into its stomach trying to tickle it. “ Aha! That Pinkie, is a compsagnathus, a small dinosaur
from the late Jurassic period. Usually in packs… chicken sized… carnivorous!! Pinkie, get that away from
you!”
“I taught him not to bite me. Look.” she put her hoof in front of his mouth and it did nothing.
She even started petting it, and all it did was lick her. “ All you need to do is give him cupcakes every few
minutes and he’ll be nice to you! Aren’t you such a good dinosaur Mr. Compy!” Pinkie was now treating
it exactly like a dog. She even gave him a nickname!
“uhh, Pinkie, I don’t think you should get too attached to that thing. It might not be safe.”
“But he’s such a nice dino. Oh yes he is. Oh yes he is!” now she was talking to him like a baby.
“He sure is.” said Twilight in an obviously sarcastic tone,” Maybe Spike can play with him while
I do some important business.” She walked off not realizing Spike hasn’t come inside yet, and still not
gaining the common sense needed to know that there is a long extincted creature in her tree. But it was
Pinkie, so she didn’t really question that matter. She just headed over to her desk so that she can fit some
numbers in that equation she had made.
“Where is it!?” Twilight screamed as she came to find the desk only occupied with the book. “ I
cant remember the equation. Who has it? Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!” she started galloping
around the room checking high and low for a piece of paper she knew wouldn’t be in that library
anymore. Pinkie just stood there staring at Twilight with a blank face. After a course of a few seconds it
instantaneously switched to an accusatory one.
“ Do you have it Compy? Well ANSWER ME!” she screamed at her pet dinosaur. He cocked his
head to the left. “ oh okay. He doesn’t have it.” now turning happy.
“Now’s not the time to play Pinkie! Help me find it.” she said still looking everywhere.
“uhh, Twilight. There’s a note here for you.” Pinkie said pointing at a note that was underneath
the book. The next thing Pinkie saw was a purple flash and out appeared Twilight. She used her
teleporting spell almost regularly now, she even spent an entire day without moving a single hoof one
time. But that wasn’t an issue to be worried about now. She picked up the note and read aloud…
“Dear Twilight Sparkle,
I cant thank you enough for this equation you were able to get. With this, I feel confident I can do
it myself now. I will report back to you once I have made a successful worm hole. Until then,
study the other subjects for me.
Your princess of the night, Luna”
“So?” said Pinkie with a confused look.
“Pinkie! Don’t you see! She’s trying to do something she cant handle, and she doesn’t even know
it! Next thing you know things unworldly will come here!” after saying this both of the ponies turn to look
at Compy.
“Raaah!”
“Oh, no.” Twilight’s heart skipped a beat. She knew Luna would fail, and the evidence was right
in front of her. “Pinkie, where did you find him?”
“Walking around sugar cube corner. Why?”
“That must mean wherever Luna put that wormhole, its close to Ponyville since we were only
gone for about 15 minutes.”
STOMP, STOMP, STOMP, STOMP... The trio all got startled and looked at the front door.
The stomping got closer and closer. It sounded as if it was a dragon, but there were no dragons here this
season, and needless to say, there was a wormhole somewhere nearby. This was something big. This was
something not from here.
“AAAAAHHHHHHH…” A blood curdling scream emitted through the door, and thank Celestia
it ended. But Twilight knew why the screaming stopped, especially when she heard other ponies
screaming afterwards.
“oooh! I wonder what they’re playing? AAAAHHHHHH! Did I win? Did I win?” Pinkie was
making her way to the door until Twilight put a hoof in front of her.
“Shhh. I’ll look out the window. You stay here Pinkie and… Compy.” She tip hoofed her way to
the nearest window, the screaming and stomping louder with every inch she got closer. Once she reached
the window she moved the curtain just a bit so that she can see what monstrosity could be happening.
A giant copy of Compy, but much thicker, except for the arms. Those were still tiny. But its
massive foot would make craters with every step, and some craters even had pony outlines in them. She
gagged. But what made it worst, was that she saw with her own eyes, a stallion was running for his life
until his lower body was crushed. The monster bent down and tore his upper body off, lifted its head up
and swallowed the body with a strand of intestines hanging out from between his teeth. It slurped the flesh
up like noodles. It made Twilight sick enough to faint and fall backwards.
