The pounding in twilights head got sharper every beat. The air around her became more and

more obsolete. She uncontrollably inhaled huge gasps of nothing… and exhaled an equal amount of

nothing. No book has ever covered this type of torture, no book has ever covered this type of chaos…

1 week ago... It was a bright and sunny morning. The suns rays were penetrating the window

above twilights bed. Even though her eyes were closed, her lids couldn’t help but turn yellow and

uncomfortable. Being annoyed by this, she spun around and buried her face in her pillow to block out any

sign of light.

“Hey Twi! Are we gonna go to Rarity’s today? Cause I was thinking…” Spikes voice broke the

sound barrier of complete silence.

“Not Now Spike!” came a groaned, muffled voice that emitted from twilights pillow.

“But you said we were going to go over today! I was going to give her this ruby.” he said pulling

out a small yet elegant ruby that would’ve made even the dullest of ponies in awe.

Twilight picked up her head to reveal a crazy haired, almost hangover-ish face. “ Sorry Spike, its

just that I spent all night reading this very interesting book.”

“Well, what was it?”

“ The Teachings of Time and Space continuum. It was written by Princess Celestia’s parents

themselves.” she said with enthusiasm, as to show that she was very advanced. She then remembered

about showboating and shook her head at her self in shame.

“uhhhh, sounds interesting… so we can we go now!?” replied Spike trying his best to try and get

Twilight to bring him to Rarity’s.

“hmmm, well I guess I can drop you off over there. You know, got to make every pony happy!”

she said with a slow, coarse morning voice and rolled out of bed. Literally. She laid on the floor with her

blanket still wrapped around her, using her muscles that she can feel, but at the same time cant feel at all,

to pick her self up.

Twilight and Spike were right outside of Rarity’s. They had taken a long time to go a distance

that wasn’t very far, due to Twilights slow daunting. Spike knocked a few times to get a “Come on in.”

from behind the door frame. They opened the door to find Rarity stitching a new dress.

“ I thought you were free today. Sorry, didn’t mean to bother you. Me and Spike will be leaving

now.” Said Twilight trying to avoid staying over and chatting with Rarity. She had nothing against her

personally, but she did talk a lot about things Twilight could care less about.

“Oh, darling. This is just a side project of mine, a little something something I wanted to fix up

until you two arrived. So, tell me, how’s it been Twi? I feel like we haven’t talked in ages…” She put

down her tools and walked up to Twilight who was now worried that she would actually have to talk to

her. But Rarity was her friend, and she had to make her happy.

“Well,” she said cutting off Rarity before she could explain her whole life story.” I’ve been

reading, and well… reading.”

“hmm, Darling, you simply must get out more. In fact, how would you like to attend a concert

with me this evening?” she said putting a hoof on Twilight’s shoulder.

“Well, I don’t know. Last time I went to one with Rainbow Dash, my ears were ringing for a

week!” She said rubbing her ears, still feeling the ringing as if it was yesterday.

“uhh!” spitted Rarity with grimace all over her face,” I’m not talking about those ones like The

Discord Wears Prada, I prefer more elegant, and royally satisfying ones. The famed Octavia will be

performing in town hall tonight. You just have to come.” she said with a wide grin right up in Twilights

face.

“uhh, who’s that?” Twilight said with a confused look. Rarity gasped, stood up on her hind legs,

and collapsed onto the floor. Twilight found this as a perfect getaway while Rarity was closing her eyes,

and paralyzed in shock.

“ Hey Rarity! Look at what I got for you!” Spike busted in, flailing the ruby in front of her face.

She opened one eye to see what in Equestria he was talking about. She saw the bright, dazzling sparkle of

red and instantly stood up, with a smile and took it from Spikes hand.

“oh my!” she said holding the ruby in a shaking hoof,” Spike, how thoughtful of you.” she

reached in and kissed his forehead. Spike, now somewhat used to being kissed by Rarity only blushed and

scratched the back of his neck. Never mind, he couldn’t help but fall backwards after a few seconds.

Rarity giggled at him and picked him up back to his feet. “ How would you like to go with me to the

concert?”

“ Like a… a… date?” he said wincing at the word ‘date’ as if he felt like he would be ridiculed.

“Precisely.” said Rarity giving off a sexy smile.

This time Spike actually fainted. Rarity couldn’t help but laugh at his cuteness. She looked back

up at Twilight with a ‘sorry’ expression. “ I hope you don’t mind if I didn’t get you a ticket. I mean, you

can still attend, but…” she said trying to apologize to Twilight for giving Spike the chance to see

Octavia’s performance.

“Oh, don’t worry.” she said breaking off Rarity,” I got some more reading to do anyways. This

book has very complicated concepts and what not.” she spun her body around to walk out the door, until

Rarity popped in front of her.

“Twilighttttt.” she said in a whining voice,” Don’t lock yourself up there all day. How about you

consort with Pinkie. She will keep you up and moving.”

“ I said I want to read!” Shouted Twilight to a shocked face. “ I, I… I’m sorry.” she walked out

the door and made her way back to her room, she really didn’t want to read, but she did need to take a

nap, and that was the only way to gat Rarity to shut up, she thought.

She made it back to her room, and flopped back on to her bed. She surprisingly had no feeling of

guilt inside of her… at least not yet. All she could feel right now was fatigue, and that was enough to get

her to forget everything else. Maybe later, when she was well rested, she would go fix things up. Until

then, she let the invisible forces of the sandmare to drift her off to sleep.

Many hours later... The air was cool, crisp, and dark. The window which was beaming with

sunshine was now glowing with the moon. Twilight loved this feeling from behind her eyelids. In fact, she

didn’t want to keep them closed anymore. She sat up in her bed completely refreshed. She cracked her

neck and stretched her back to give her even more energy that she had stored up through her long nap.

She looked at her clock to check the time. 8:36 at night! She had slept in for a good 11 hours, and now

she wanted to get up and moving. She walked downstairs to greet Spike, and apologize for the way she

was acting earlier, but when she got to his bed, he was gone. All that was there, was the book with a crystal bookmarker, handcrafted from her generous friend Rarity.The concert! That’s where he was, and that’s

where she was heading. Not only did she have to apologize to him, but also to Rarity for acting like a jerk.

On her way out she looked back to make sure everything was clean. Owlicious always did a great

job when Spike was gone, but she just wanted to make sure for herself. There it was. The book. The book

of infinite knowledge… only understood by 2 Princesses, and almost deciphered by a few scholars such as

herself. She couldn’t help but stare at it. Its blue cover, encrusted with diamonds of all sorts, and 2 cutie

marks that were a complete enigma to her. Everything that was everything was in that book, she just

couldn’t figure it out. Not only was it in old Equestrian,( which she knows a great deal about) but it said

things that just made no sense at all… at least to her. She shook her head and aimed out the door, letting

the book lay on the floor, undisturbed.

She made it to town hall to find a huge crowd. She was a lot more popular than Twilight thought

she would be, and it would take a long time for her to find Spike and Rarity. “ excuse me,” “Pardon me,”

“ oops, sorry,” she maneuvered herself through the crowd very poorly, stepping on other ponies hooves,

and what not. It wasn’t until she heard a certain voice nagging at her, did she turn around and see the

pony she bothered.

“I dare say, you should watch where you are walki… Twilight, is that you?” blurted out the

white unicorn.

“Rarity! I cant begin to say how sorry I am!” Twilight said before Rarity put a hoof to her mouth.

“Apology accepted,” she said with a gentle smile,” Spike told me how you were cranky, and I

should’ve seen that and stayed out of your business, so I too am sorry.” After Rarity had finished the 2

friends hugged each other tight, and long. Spike, who was sitting right next to Rarity the whole time made

a gagging noise.

“I’m sorry to you too Spike.” Twilight grabbed him and they had a group hug right in front of

everyone else.

“ugghh! Twilight! This is gross! And In front of everypony!”

As Spike finished that, Rarity quickly let go and sat back down with an extra regal posture, she

looked sheepishly to her left and right as to make sure no one saw this ordeal. Twilight gave a small little

chuckle, and then Rarity couldn’t help but give in. The 3 friends sat through the rest of the performance

enjoying the show, and occasionally having small talk. Once the show was over they all left to Rarity’s to

have a little more fun before they had to go to sleep.

“Oh, Twilight. You are such a joy to be around. How about we have another get together like this

again. By the way, how did you get in without a ticket?” Rarity asked while walking with her 2 friends.

“Hey! What about me!” piped in Spike.

“And Spike, I had a lovely time with you. We simply must schedule another date.” she put extra

emphasis at ‘date’ and gave him a small peck to the cheek. His eyes became love drunk and he held his

hand to his cheek, giving a goofy smile.

“ Hehe. Well, I don’t have anything to do next Saturday. I would do it earlier but that book… its

just so complicated.” she said regretting that she brought it up.

“oh, don’t worry, you never bother me when I have important things to do, so I want bother you!”

she said giving a warm smile and hugging her lavender friend.

“ Please. Well I’m off when ever Rarity! And I don’t think I can wait a whole week for our next

date!”

“I’ll tell you when I’m available spikey wikey.”

They finally reached the Carousel Boutique and dropped off Rarity. The master and her assistant

walked back to the library to continue reading. Spike though was very tired and fell asleep as soon as he

got there. Twilight however was wide awake, and decided to write a letter to the princess.

“Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned that you cant just lie to your friends and make excuses to get out of things you

don’t want to do, you have to tell them why you don’t want to do something, and let them try to

understand you. This might be a bit off topic, but I need some tutoring on the book you gave me,

by the king and queen themselves. I know all the knowledge in there, shouldn’t be open to any

ponies except for you and Luna, but I only ask for some guidance, to make sure my assumptions

on a subject are correct or not. Hopefully we can work something out,

Your faithful and curious student, Twilight Sparkle”

Twilight rolled up the scroll and put it on her desk for Spike to send when he is awake. Until

then, she would continue reading her book and try to further understand its contents. She flipped open the

book to find see the title written above the 2 strange cutie marks. One was an ‘A’, why would a cutie mark

just be an A? the other was an upside down ‘U’ in which two lines hooked out.

Bang. Twilight heard something hit her roof. Scared, yet curiously, she walked up the stairs to

find out what had caused the noise. It was dark. It was quiet. The only sound that was emitted was from

Twilights hooves walking up the stairs. She reached her room and felt a chill at her back that she’s never

felt in this room before. In fact, she’s never felt that chill except when…

“Twilight Sparkle,” came a booming voice from the dark,” We must talk…” Out of the shadows

came the beautiful princess of the night…
