Pinkamena 3: Homecoming
Chapter 2: Amnesia
Previous Chapter Next Chapter "Hey, Dawn." said a pony.
Dawn turned around and saw a pony running towards her. They were right outside the town of Trottingham. Dawn was using her magic to carry a basket of food along with a blanket.
"What's up, May?" asked Dawn. She was a blue unicorn with a yellow mane.
"Going on your picnic?" asked May. She was a red unicorn with a blue mane.
"You bet." said Dawn.
"Well, when you get back do you wanna do some more painting?"
"Of course." said Dawn, heading off towards the shore near Trottingham.
Trottingham was located near the shore of Equestria, located to the south of Fillydelphia and to the east of Manehattan. Dawn kept walking when she finally arrived at her usual spot on the shore. She set down the towel and straightened it out. She then set down the food basket. She was about to lie down when something near the water's edge caught her eye. She took a couple steps toward it to get a better look. It was another pony. She looked like she was in trouble. Dawn took off towards the pony and knelt down beside her. It was a pink pony with balloons as a cutie mark.
"Hello?" asked Dawn.
The pony slowly opened her eyes halfway.
"Who... who are you?" she asked.
"I'm Dawn. What's your name?"
"Pink... Pinkamena."
"Pinkamena, huh? That's a nice name. What happened to you?"
"I-I can't remember." said Pinkie Pie.
"Are you hungry?" asked Dawn.
"A little."
"Well, come on." said Dawn. "I was just about to have a picnic."
She helped Pinkie Pie get up. Then the two of them made their way to Dawn's picnic. Dawn gave Pinkie a piece of bread out of the basket. Pinkie sat down and started eating.
"This bread is delicious." said Pinkie. "Is that your special talent?"
"No." said Dawn. "My special talent is painting."
"Painting, huh?" asked Pinkie, taking another bite of bread.
"Yeah." said Dawn. "Me and my friend, May, both have the same talent. So we paint together."
"Interesting." said Pinkie. "So where am I?"
"You're right outside Trottingham. It's to the south of Fillydelphia?"
"Fillydelphia?" asked Pinkie. "Why does that sound so familiar?"
"Well, the current of the water was flowing south. Maybe you were washed ashore from Fillydelphia."
"Maybe." said Pinkie.
They finished eating and headed back to town. When they arrived at the town entrance they were greeted by May.
"Hey, Dawn." she said. "Who's your friend?"
"This is Pinkamena." said Dawn. "I think she has amnesia."
"Amnesia?" asked May.
"Can't remember a thing." said Pinkie. "Only my name."
"Well, that's too bad." said May. "I'd hate to lose mymemory."
"Maybe you should see a doctor." said Dawn. "Find out what's going on and how bad it is."
"Perhaps I should." said Pinkie. "Where is this doctor?"
"Follow me." said Dawn. "I'll take you to him."
Pinkie followed Dawn through the town. She looked all around as they passed by buildings and stores and other ponies. Finally they got to the doctor's. They entered the building and stood in the lobby. It wasn't a huge building. It looked like a family-owned business. They headed to the front desk. The pony behind the counter looked
up from a magazine she was reading. Pinkie suddenly had a sense of déjà vu. An image of a blue pony with a yellow mane reading a magazine flashed before her eyes.
"We need to see the doctor right away." said Dawn.
"What seems to be the problem?" asked the pony.
"This pony may have amnesia." said Dawn.
"Amnesia, huh?" asked the pony. "He's free right now so you can just go in."
"Thank you." said Dawn, leading Pinkie into the doctor's office.
When they got inside they were greeted by the doctor.
"So, what seems to be the problem?" he asked as Dawn motioned for Pinkie to sit in the chair.
"Possible amnesia." said Dawn.
"Amnesia? Let's find out, shall we?" He stood next to the chair that Pinkie sat down in. "What's your name?"
"Pinkamena."
"Very good. What's your favorite color?"
"Not sure." said Pinkie. "But if I had to guess... pink."
"Well, this isn't about guessing. It's about knowing. So... favorite animal?"
"Not sure."
"Favorite food?"
"No idea."
"Favorite song?"
"Drawin' a blank, doc."
"Your parents' names?"
"Nothin'"
"Friends' names?"
"Do I have friends?"
"I'm your friend." said Dawn.
"Okay." said the doctor. "It's a positive. You have amnesia."
"Great." said Pinkie.
"It's not that bad." said the doctor. "Any number of things could trigger your memory."
"So that's what it was." said Pinkie.
"I'm sorry?" asked the doctor.
"Oh... outside in the lobby when I saw the receptionist reading a magazine, I had a sense of déjà vu. I saw a blue unicorn reading a magazine. I didn't know what it was at first, but... now I think it was a memory."
"See?" said the doctor. "There you go. If you want your memory back, do things you think you might have done in the past."
"Thanks, doc." said Pinkie Pie, leaving the chair.
She followed Dawn out of the building. May was waiting for them.
"So, what did he say?" she asked.
"Amnesia." said Pinkie.
"We need to do things she might have done in the past in order to trigger her memory."
"Sounds like a plan." said May.
