My Little Pony: Friendship is Fourth and One
Chapter 13: A burning sensation
Previous Chapter Next ChapterDJ walked into the center of the field. Homecoming night was here, and the crowd was massive. They all got quiet as he prepared himself. "Bears!" He screamed.
"Backer!" They replied.
"What is your profession!?"
The crowd pumped their fists with each shout. "Aaa-ooo! Aaa-ooo! Aaa-ooo!"
DJ smiled as he jogged back to the sidelines to get the most recent armband. It was a small ritual a senior came up with a few years back, but DJ had taken it even farther. As he slid in the new numbers, something caught his eye. A group of freshman had taken their helmets off, and were sitting down on the bench, each had a bottle of water in their hands. He even thought he saw the straps from their shoulder pads. DJ walked toward the trio. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
They exchanged glances. "Uh, talking?" The middle one replied like a smartass.
DJ looked over his shoulder. "Alise! Bailey!" The two managers looked over their shoulders upon hearing their names. "Make sure these three don't get a drop until they touch the field." He turned back to the players. "Get up."
"Why?" The second said. He was another backer.
"Get. Up." DJ replied. They all rolled their eyes, standing up I'm exagerated motions. The managers snatched the bottles. DJ pointed to each one. "Strap up and stay straped up. The only reason your cap shouldn't be on, and not tied up, is because you just got fucking rocked and need medical attention. Am I clear?"
They sighed. "Yeah." They started buttoning their pads up. DJ gave a mental sigh. Freshman year, we didn't have anyone like that.
Just a minute before the game, DJ gathered the offensive line. "Boys, listen. You guys in the trenches are the heart of this team. You aren't too fast, but damm you fuckers hit hard. Hit them hard, drive them back." DJ laughed. "Every pancake tonight earns each of ya a donut, how's that sound?" The men erupted into cheers DJ smiled to himself. "Let's fucking do this!"
The halftime came much too quick for DJ, and didn't end soon enough. He was thirsty for blood. As kickoff made their way onto the field, he started sceaming at his team. "No mercy! No mercy! Tear their heads off!" He started bounding around, he eventually stopped in his place, he cupped his hands around his mouth. "We're gonne take 'em down!"
The whole team replied. "Tear their heads off!"
"Spit down their throats!"
"And smile when we do it!"
The ball was kicked high, really high. DJ had a perfect angle on one of the smaller guys, but something caught his attention. One of the linebackers for the other team was just jogging. Oh, you're fuckin' dead! DJ changed his angle, headed at a forty-five to the other backer. He got closer and closer, until *CRACK!* DJ earholed the backer, sending him to the ground. The play continued, and DJ started for his position, but a whistle stopped him. He turned, the backer didn't know where he was at. DJ smiled. Bye, bye! As coaches and trainers ran to his side, both teams took advantage of the free time-out. DJ grabbed a water, pouring it down his back.
That's when he saw the freshman.
They were on one knee, talking to each other. DJ set the water in the crate, and stormed towards them. "Are you talking to Him?"
They all looked up at DJ. "No?"
DJ grabbed their pads, lifting them to their feet. "Then don't you fucking dare take a knee. You only get down when you are praying, or the poor bastard is leaving in a stretcher."
"Why?" The third asked.
"This isn't little league, this is highschool football! Wake the fuck up!" As the words left DJ's mouth, the world started to spin. Words painted on the walls in blood red paint, the turf turned to water, and DJ began to sink.
DJ's eyes shot open, just as he was falling back in the bench. "Jesus, shit!" He said as he made solid contact with the ground. He let out a sigh. "Just a dream... must've dozed off." He rolled over, standing to his feat. He looked at the bag. "Hey, used all the bread. But that can't be it? Surely Celestia has more in mind for punishment than feeding ducks?" He shook his head. "Don't push it, DJ. Don't Jinx yourself."
He set the bench back up right, amd began walking back towards the castle, whitch was actually quite a ways away. He took his headphones and phone out of his pocket, and started blaring music. It was always his way out, a way of remembering or forgetting. As one of his favorite songs came on, since his arrival, he could only smile at the guitar ento. "Be my escape, by Reliant K." As he started bobing his head and humming the words, he just thought of getting back home. Surely there was a way? There had to be a way... right?
His thoughts were cut off when his music stopped, and a bird chirped in his ear. He snarled. "Fucking texts..." he started walking, then realized what he said. "Wait, text?" He fumbled for his phone, just as it went ballistic in his hands, vibrating like crazy, the bird never getting past the first note, he even dropped his phone. When he picked it up, his jaw hit the floor. "How...?" Over twenty-thousand texts, and almost five-thousand missed calls, with just as many voicemails. DJ frowned. "I don't understand..." he looked up at the sky. "This is impossible?" Just as he said that, a bright light came from the castle. DJ squinted to see.
As he did, a whining sound entered his ears. Out of a window, shot a red object. Landing just in front of DJ. He bent over, looking at the object. "A Kawasaki?" He looked at it more, inspecting every detail. As he frowned even more, a sound entered his ears.
*CRACK, CRACK! CRACK!* Along with screams from two persons. DJ stood up. He recognized the voice, the bike, and the weapon. "Oh, God. Please! Not her!" Her started in a dead sprint for the castle.
_____________
It had been a task, but she had done it! Cadence sat in the empty room, she began placing the stones, which she stole from Luna's room, in the correct position's. She sat the necklace in the center of the room. She didn't have enough raw power to even attempt to fire up the stones, but the necklace, and all the love in it, could amplify it by ten. She let out a long breath of air, before igniting her horn. The stones rose in the air with the necklace.
The rocks started to shake in a very unsteady action, veering left and right. Cadence tried to concentrate, but lost control. The rocks all fell to the floor, along with the pink princess. She was gasping for air. This is much harder than I thought... She stood up, and thought of her plan again, one last time. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea? Bringing in another, especially if it was anything like him. But from the pictures she saw, she looked innocent, and sweet. Small and harmless, the exact opposite of DJ.
She was greatly wrong.
Her horn once again ignited, and this time, she wasn't giving up. The gems floated into the air, along with the necklace. The stones started shaking once again, but Cadence was quick to react, her horn shot a beam into the necklace. Every link in the chain aimplified her power, sending even more beams through the room, connecting with each stone. They stabilized, and a small blue orb started to form in the center of the room. It grew bigger and bigger, until it was just taller than her, but it still needed direction. She picked up one of the pictures, and thrust it through the portal, along with a large blast of magic.
The portal lurched, and quickly opened to a flat area, grey everywhere. Yellow stripes on it. Cadence squinted to see. A red dot was quickly approaching. Cadence stepped out of the way, hoping the mattresses would cushion the inevitable impact. A second passed, and the red object flew through, colliding with the spings. The portal shut, and Cadence fell to the floor gasping for air.
The two wheeled machine slammed into the mound, sending the rider over, colliding with the wall. The motor on the vehicle shut down, and silence filled the room. Then, the creature moved. It was much smaller then DJ, width and height. It coughed as it took off its black helmet, with the black visor. It tossed it on the floor, and looked around the room.
"Whaaaaa...." was all she said, he jaw hitting the floor.
Cadence stood up. "Hello, I know yo..."
Before Cadence could understand what was happening, the human dove for her vehicle, bringing the beast to life. "Get back!" She yelled, reving the engine. Cadence didn't notice her grab a black object from her bag.
Cadence put up her hooves. "No, wait, listen!" She pleaded.
The human hit the throttle, sending the red object speeding straight for the alicorn. Cadence moved out of the way with ease as the bike flew through the window. She turned to the human. "Listen, I ha..."
The human pulled the trigger of the small black object. Twice in rapid succession, then a third. Each impacting the alicorn. Cadence screamed in pain, and unconsciously fired a massive ball of fire at the human.
The human hit the floor, rolling to get the flames off. Cadence just lay on the floor. What have I done?
__________
Celestia stepped out of her private quarters at the strange sound. His weapon is being guarded? How did he get it again? Just as she turned to head for the noise, curved around the corner at a dead sprint. A look of fear struck across his face. Celestia took another step to slow DJ. He just frowned, as he got closer he put his hands out in front of him. He jumped, pressing his hands on her back, vaulting himself over her.
Celestia grabbed him with her magic. "Where are you going?"
He thrashed in her magic. "Let me go, dammit!" He was turned to face Celestia. "Those shots, weren't mine."
Celestia's eyes got wide. Her horn ignited, sending them to the source of the sound. As DJ hit the floor, his eyes fell upon the human being bit by the red flames. He looked around the room, grabbing a curtain from the window, he threw it over her, patting her with his hands.
Celestia looked at the pink alicorn, who had three bleeding holes. Celestia lowered her horn, touching each wound. The holes closed up, bit left a nasty scar. Cadence slowly opened her eyes. "What ha..." her eyes landed on DJ, who was still patting the curtains.
"Cadence..." Celestia started.
"Get away!" The voice under the curtains screamed. DJ held up his hands, letting the other human curl up into a ball.
DJ looked over at the pistol, and slipped it into his pocket. "Shhh.... it'll all be over soon." DJ glanced to Celestia. "Sedatives?" He mouthed.
Celestia nodded, and walked over to DJ, placing her horn over the curtains. As the horn ignited, the shaking slowly began to stop. When it did, DJ removed the curtain. Celestia sighed. "She needs to be hospitalized, these burns are very serious."
DJ remained silent, brushing the charred hair from her face. Celestia thought she saw a tear forming in DJ's eyes as he buried his head in her chest. "No... not you too..." he said. When he stood, he kept his faceturned, away from the ponies. "There's a Kawasaki Ninja not far from the gardens. Red, two wheels. She'll want that."
Celestia nodded. "It will be retrieved."
As her horn was getting ready to ignite, to send them all to the hospital, the door burst open. A white and purple pony at the door. "We heard a noise co..." Their eyes darted from DJ, to the other human, the Celestia, then to Cadence, who lay in a pool of blood. The two's horns started glowing as they glared daggers at DJ. "What did you do to Cadence?!"
DJ pulled the pistol from his pocket, aiming it at the two. "I didn't do shit. You two can fuck off."
They didn't buy it. Next Chapter: Country loves techno Estimated time remaining: 2 Hours, 36 Minutes
