Rain Storm
Chapter 8: The Hidden City
Previous Chapter Next ChapterTwilight Sparkle was in her library, studying maps. Apart from her letters to princess Celestia, she didn't have much to do except to look for this city Storm mentioned. Unfortunately, her results had been inconclusive.
“no... I've already checked that one... and that book was useless” she said to herself sorting though her books and maps of Equestria “hang on, what's this?” Twilight pulled out a old and dusty map from a old tattered book.
“a map of Equestria? Wow... this map's old... what? There's a city there that's not on the maps!” The city Twilight was looking at was in the middle of... well, nowhere!
Equestria was still a mostly unexplored area, there were still new lands and far away places and civilizations to find. On all of the maps up to date, that part of the map was labelled “nowhere” with a foot note saying how dangerous it was.
However, the old map hadn't changed. The area and the place surrounding it was clearly labelled and explored.
“Hmmm” Twilight thought “what could this mean? Was this the city Storm was talking about?”
Three loud knocks at the door snapped her out of her trance, and she became aware how dark it was. On her way to to the door, she briefly saw out side the weather, it was chucking it down! Thankfully, that sound spell she cast over her library meant she could study in peace.
Twilight opened the door to find Storm standing outside. He was soaked to the skin, with his mane and tail flat down. His mane had flopped to one side, and it covered his left emerald eye, with the rain, low light and his look, storm looked quite menacing, but what was creepiest of all was his slight smile when Twilight greeted him.
“oh! umm, hello Storm! Please do come in, you must be soaked!” she said
“thanks” he said simply and trotted in with his head down.
“So what brings you to the library today?” she asked
“I had another memory come back to me...” he said darkly, still keeping his smile “my past isn't exactly... a happy one”
“why, what happened Storm?” she asked worried
“I'd rather not say... Have you made any progress on the maps yet?” he said quietly
“I think so. Just here I think. Somepony did a good job on making us forget about it. All of the up to date maps say its in the middle of, I quote 'nowhere!'” she replied.
“I know” he said “in my past, I had a friend... called Red I think. He did something, but I can't remember what... but it made me angry. Furious, and I...I... I did something to him, and I think he came back... but with power. I think he's the one who covered up that city... and everypony in it...” Twilight looked grave and listened to every word.
“if this is the truth we've got to inform the princess!” she said with a hint of panic in her voice.
“no... I want to go there... don't tell the princess just yet. I need time.” he said still looking creepy.
“If your sure...” said Twilight
“Thanks for the help...I'm gonna go out for a bit now... I need to think” he said leaving
“are you crazy? It's chucking it down out there!” she said
“I'll be fine...” he said. As Storm exited, he turned his head and said “oh yea, if Dash comes looking for me, tell her... tell her I was never here. Do me this one promise and don't break it” Twilight nodded “good night Twilight Sparkle...” and Storm was gone.
Twilight went upstairs to her room. She quietly went past Spike and sat down at her desk. Even though it was late, she wasn't tiered. She thought about what to do, and decided she would right a letter to the princess, but not one of her usual letters.
She used magic on her pen, and it started to write down her thoughts...
Dear Princess Celestia
You Might be confused why I am sending this letter to you. Its not about my friendship report, it's about here in Ponyville. Don't worry, the town isn't in danger, its just about our newest arrival to the town
Rain Storm.
As I have told you in previous letters, he has Amnesia, and his memories have slowly been returning to him. Usually, I would tell you how well he has been doing, but this not a happy letter.
From what I've picked up, Storms past is a bad one. Really bad. He didn't want to explain to me about it, but I believe that something terrible happened to him in his childhood, and it's haunting him.
He's been acting stranger and stranger. Something deep and, I dare say dark and evil is troubling him.
I'm worried for im, princess. He is a very nice pony, but until now...
He made me promise to tell you not to act at the moment, but I feel I may have to break that promise if anything gets out of hand.
I will anxiously await your reply and further advice.
Your faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight Sighed, and rapped up the parchment into a neat scroll and put it on her
desk. As she went to her bed, she wondered about what else he had said.
“what did he mean when he said I shouldn't tell Rainbow Dash he was here?” she thought. “Ah well... I'm tired now. I'll sought it out in the morning” and with that, Twilight fell asleep.

Dash was flying around fast. Storm had left into this bad weather, and today was not a good day for flying. She began to panic.
“What if something bad happened to him? What if he hit into a tree? Or bumped into a...a... Ursor Minor? Or a Major!?” she thought rapidly “no...no... calm down Dash. He probably flew of to get some air or something. I should just head back home. He'll be there in the morning. Yea. Everything will be OK...” Dash headed back home, and got into bed. She tried to fall asleep, but she couldn't.
Dash involuntary stayed awake out of anxiety, listening for that door to open. But it never happened that night, and she eventually fell into a troubled sleep...
