Scattered Memories

It was a cold night. All over Equestria there was a horrible chill. The cold weather came from the near by mountain range, and it was picked up by a strong breeze, so it spread rapidly. All over the towns and cities there was silence. Everypony was in doors. Nothing. Except for the occasional trundle of a cart, or the sound of ponies out late trotting around the empty streets, trying to get home, or into shelter. Even Canterlot seemed quiet that night.
There were a few places, however where the silence was broken, in the northern mountain range of black rock dragons roared. In the Great sea to the east the waves were splashing noisily against the cliffs. One of the other places wear the silence was broken was the Everfree Forest. Insects chirped and birds sung, but only few at that for even though the animals fended for themselves they knew the greater predators of the night scavenged the forest for prey. The occasional branch snapped, or some rocks fell down one of its large ravines, sending eerie echoes throughout the forest. All of Everfree was like this. Except near the northern outskirts...

“No...gotta keep moving” thought the pegasus. “why though?... don't know...can't remember...but gotta...keep moving...” He collapsed on the floor, as his legs gave way.
He felt tired. So very very tired. He could tell that he was covered in dirt, and soot, but he couldn't remember why. His wings were worn out, he could tell that very well, even trying to lift them was a fight, let a lone try and fly away.

He stumbled through the forest, until he came upon a clear patch. The moon was shining down onto it, and there was a statue in the middle. He dragged himself up to the statue and stared at it. He couldn't make out anything about it. All of its features seemed weird and distorted to him.
“must...not..stop...uh....” The pegasus collapsed again in front of the statue. He tried to get up but his legs wouldn't respond. He used all of his energy that he had left just to get up, but to no avail. Why try? no pony was going to find him out here...he closed his eyes...

Twilight Sparkle had woke up late that day. She tried not to wake spike, as Pinkie had held one of her party's last night for Rainbow Dash. This time, the party was A-very-good-try-and-its-a-shame-you-didn't-get-in party. It was a great party.
Pinkie tried her hardest to make a “Super duper extra awesomely super terrifically special!” party for Rainbow Dash. She had entered in a competition to get into the Wonderbolts, but she wasn't the only one there. Although she was fast, she was only really good on straights, were she could pull off her legendary Sonic rain boom, but it was only a normal race track. Dash kept getting caught of at the turns.
Building up those kind of speeds and turning didn't go well together. Rainbow had come 2nd, but that wasn't good enough unfortunately.
The winner would then get tested against the team themselves on a long straight, that was why Dash was so unhappy when she found out she didn't get in because they all knew she would of won. The Wonderbolts were good, but they couldn't break the sound barrier.

It ended very late, and spike couldn't stay awake much longer at the time, and neither could Twilight. She splashed some cold water onto her face to get herself more awake, then headed out to Zecora's house. The herbs that were growing in the Everfree Forest at the moment were a very particular type, and they only grew in the beginning of summer. The Herbs in their raw state were very good for healing, and made a nice tasting tea as well. Since Zecora lived in the forest, she was the best to ask for some, and even if she didn't have any, Twilight was certain that she would help her get some. She eventually turned up at Zecoras, and knocked politely on the door.

“Come in, Twilight Sparkle” said Zecora from the other side. Twilight wasn't sure how Zecora always seemed to know who was there at her door all of the time and one day she planned to ask her. But not today.
“Hello Zecora” said Twilight as she came in. Zecora smiled at her. “I was wondering if you had any Purple Avens here that I could have. I have been experimenting and feel like I would like to try out its healing properties for my self, and how much of a nice cup of tea it makes.” they both laughed.
“Hmmm Purple Avens is what you require?” rhymed Zecora “I do not have any with me, but I will help you if get some if that is what you desirer”
“That would be very helpful, thank you Zecora” replied Twilight happily. Zecora strapped her saddle bag on, and took a look outside.
"We should leave and get those herbs you seek, before Everfree becomes to bleak" She rhymed, frowning
That's another thing that Twilight never understood. How can Zecora always find a rhyming word for every sentence? That is another mystery that Twilight some day wishes to discover.
Maybe she should use the word orange in one of her sentences late on to find out how Zecora would react?

They set off into the forest. Twilight was well aware of the dangers that lurked here, and she had prepared a spell that would camouflage her and Zecora right into the background. You could never be to careful in the Everfree Forest. After a good thirty minuets of foraging, they had collected an ample supply. They may have gotten a little dirty, okay, a lot dirty whilst trying to get one on a hill. The mud was slippy so they both fell down it. Zecora and Twilight weren't hurt,it was still funny all the same.
“Thank you for helping me Zecora, I would have taken a lot longer if it weren't for your help” Twilight said. Zecora smiled, then nodded.
“it was a pleasure helping you,and seeing you drop by too” she replied. Zecora waved Twilight good bye, and Twilight set off back to Ponyville.

When she was walking, Twilight came to a crossing. One way went deeper into the forest, the left path took a longer but more scenic route out, and the right path was a straight trot back to the town She had come prepared if anything should attack her, after all and the Everfree Forest was a beautiful place, just a dangerous one. After having a quick debate with herself , she decided to take the left path. Twilight was glad she had chosen to go this way. It was indeed very beautiful. The kind of setting that would inspire an artist, she thought. Twilight continued to walk through Everfree, until she came to a clearing. It had an ancient old statue in the middle of it, but that wasn't what made her jump. There was a pegasus, slumped against the side of the statue. He wasn't moving.
“Oh no” she thought “what am I going to do?” Twilight galloped towards him quickly, and check to see if he was ok.
“Hmmm” she thought. Twilight's medical skills were limited, but she could tell that this pegasus was badly injured. Twilight had walked this path before, and she could remember that the exit was still some distance away from here. She couldn't just leave him here, but Twilight needed help to carry him back...she would have to go and get help.
“Wait!” she thought “I know, I'll try to teleport us both back!...but I've never tried that before, and from what I have read up, it can be a little risky...no! I must try, I can't just leave this pegasus to die out here!” she focused her magic up, until she had a secure lock on them both and teleported. Both ponies disappeared in a white flash.
