Many years ago, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna used the Elements of Harmony to seal away the God of Disharmony, Discord, and then remade Equestria into a world of light and harmony. Over time, the Elements of Harmony were reborn in the form of five ponies, and a sixth element was formed from their light. The power of the Elements of Harmony have kept the world in the light for many years.

But the brighter the light, the darker the shadow.

You're a fallen star living in self exile after a sin you find unforgivable. While wallowing in self pity, a voice echos in your head, and leads you on a journey beyond anything you ever thought possible. You used to brag about how you saved Equestria, but what would you do if you actually HAD to save Equestria?
