Los Pegasus College
Chapter 4: Singing Through The Tears
Previous Chapter Next ChapterYou looked at Applejack's room card, and pointed her in the direction of 2E. Wait... Isn't Rarity in that room.
"AJ, do you know Rarity by any chance?" You ask while staring into her emerald eyes.
"Ya, Ah do know a Rarity. Why do y'all ask?"
"No reason at all." You directed your hand straight, pointing to the right to signify that 2E was there.
"Thank ya kindly!" Applejack walked to the room, since suitcases were automatically sent to your room when you arrived.
You went to unlock your dorm when you remember you left your key on your nightstand, "Dash? Can you let me in?"
"Nah, the door's all the way over there, and I'm all the way over here." She replied.
"I'm going to get food." You hopefully replied.
"Coming." It worked..? It worked.
Dash opened up the door with what seemed to be a bracelet over her sweatshirt sleeve, but you pretended not to notice.
"Where to?" She asked as you walked down the stairs.
"I don't know, across the street to Burger King?" You laughed a bit at your suggestion.
"Sure, why not."
You guys reached the bottom of the stairs when Dash clamped her arm around yours, "Follow along."
"We're off to see the Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. You'll find he is a whiz of a Wiz! If ever a Wiz there was. If ever, oh, ever a Wiz there was The Wizard of Oz is one because,
Because, because, because, because, because. Because of the wonderful things he does." She sang in an amazingly wonderful singing voice as you walked through the awkward crowds.
When you got outside, you looked over to Dash with a wide smile, "You have an awesome voice."
"Seriously? I hate it. I find it too raspy." She adjusted her bracelet with her free hand.
"D'aww little Dashie doesn't like her voice?" You stuck out your tongue at her.
"No I don't." She coughed into her hand and faced you, "I do not find it simply divine and I will never!"
"Shall we?" You opened the door for Dash, like a sir. Like a sir.
"We shall." She said as she walked into the almost empty fast-food place.
"So, we don't know much about each other so how about we ask each other questions while eating?" You really did want to know more about Dash, she seemed a bit mysterious at the time.
"Sure." She orders some food along with you, and you sit down at a table, "You first."
"Okay... Complete name?" You bit into a french fry.
"Rainbow Danger Dash. Pretty cool, hm?"
"I guess. Your turn."
"How did you get into Los Pegasus College?" She took a giant bite of her hamburger. She can sure fit a lot in her mouth... Teehee.
"Grades are really high." You thought of a question as you tried to take as big a bite as Dash, "What are your parents' names?"
Dash looked down and pushed out her bottom lip, You could tell she was sad because of your question. She looked over at her bracelet, "I don't know..."
"Oh Dash, I'm so sorry."
"It's alright... It's just..." She leaned over onto your shoulder, "I'm glad I could find friends to support me."
You didn't know what to do, so you went to hug her, and when you let go you turned her towards you and stared into her magenta eyes, "Dash, remember this. I will always be there for you. Okay?"
"Okay." She hugged you again and when she pulled back she stared at her bracelet again, "Have you ever not had anyone, you know. For support?"
"Yes actually, both my parents went out on business trips and left me alone." When you said that you heard Dash sigh.
"Bet you had relatives, though."
"Wait what?" You said through your hamburger.
"I don't have any relatives." She glanced at her bracelet yet again, "All I really know is that my sister gave me this bracelet before she got sick."
"That's sweet. I bet your family was very caring-" You were cut off by Dash.
"No. My mom didn't want me. My dad agreed. My sister and I ran away and found an abandoned mansion in which we lived in until she died. I decorated it in her memory and..." Dash let a tear stream down her cheek, "I never trusted anyone until my old friend Fluttershy came along. I started to socialize again and got into sports."
"I'm sorry Dash, I can't relate to any of that."
"Nobody can. Except Pinkie. That's why she became my best friend when Fluttershy left." Dash finished off her burger.
"Wait. Pinkie Pie?" You looked at her, questionably.
"Yeah. Pinks. Her life was almost as bad as mine. She has adoption parents, but nobody wanted me."
"Dash. I..." I think I found the real Dashie.
"Yes?"
"Give me a hug." You reached out for her and she returned the hug, smiling, "You're simply adorable."
"Don't call me adorable."
"There's the Dashie I know and love." You finished off your fries quickly, and waited for Dash, "Do you have any pets?"
Dash swallowed her last fry and wiped her mouth of ketchup, "Yeah, I do. He's a turtle."
"Ooh fascinating." You smiled and you held out your hand to help her up. You headed straight for the door and to the school after she got up.
"His name's Tank and he saved my life." She wiped her eyes from her past tear.
"Tell me more."
"Well, I was racing some animals, don't ask, and there was an avalanche. I got stuck under a rock until Tank came and got the rock off me. I was barely conscious when he got me to my friends." You listened to her as you opened the door yet again.
"Follow my lead... Again." She grasped your arm and started, "Somewhere over the rainbow... Way up high, there's a land that I heard of. Once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow... Skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream... Really do come true."
"You seriously have a mesmerizing voice." You lightly smiled over to Dash, who was still humming part of the tune.
"Oh shut up. No I don't."
"Yes you do." You whispered into her ear.
"Okay fine." She rolled her eyes as she climbed up the stairs.
"Sing another song." You demanded.
"Um... What song...?"
"You choose." You waited as she stopped to think.
"It's a really cheesy song... But alright..." She took a step and started, "I can almost see it, that dream I'm dreaming, but there's a voice inside my head saying... You'll never reach it. Every step I'm taking, every move I make feels... Lost with no direction, my faith is shaking."
"Continue..." You said, it was a weird-ish song but she made it sound nice.
"I don't know the rest." She laughed, unlocking the dorm to a loud screech.
"Looks like Rarity found out she was rooming with Applejack." You said.
"I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU PUT YOUR CLOTHES IN THE DRAWERS!" Rarity was really high-pitch.
"WELL THE CLOSET IS FULL OF ALL YA STUFF!" Applejack was more of a shout, and it continued on for a while.
"Glad we get along." You hopped onto your bed.
"Yup." Dash did the same on her bed, "Are you lying?"
"Hm?"
"About my voice... Are you lying?" She said, unsteadily.
"Not at all. You have the prettiest voice I've ever heard." You turned to Dash, who was blushing.
"Thank you." She looked at the wall clock, which showed 3:00pm, "Ugh. I need something to do..."
"Me too." You two turned towards each other, Dash smiling mischievously.
She ran to the closet and plucked out two bottles of silly string. Silly string?
"3...2...1..." Dash threw you the blue bottle at 3, "GO!"
You shot some at the door, because Dash was running over there. She shot back and it landed on your head, you continuously missing her because of her speed. A few minutes later, her can ran out. You shot her twice before yours ran out.
"Fun." She looked around, and at the clock, "Wow. Did that for two hours. One hour to clean up and then we can go somewhere for dinner."
"Okay! Let's get cleaning!" You got a towel and started wiping up the silly string.
An exact hour later, Dash crashed on her bed. Luckily you guys were done cleaning. You walked over to her and laid a blanket over her, giving her a soft hug. She's so cute when asleep... That wasn't creepy at all.
An hour later, you heard a yawn and Dash woke up. She plucked a ponytail off her side table and put it in her hair, "Okay, where to?"
"You choose this time." You say.
"Subway I guess." She hooked your arm and did the same singing action, except with Ay Mambo Italiano this time.
When you got there, it was crowded, "Guess a lot of people like Subway."
"There's Rarity!" You started waving but then just walked up to her and tapped her shoulder.
"Who's there?" You turned around and slid her leg underneath you, causing you to fall to the ground. You looked up to the lady who had her hands in fists, and her legs in a fighting position. She finally looked down and gasped.
"I am sincerely sorry. A lot of creeps roam around here and I have a reaction to anyone who simply taps me on the shoulder, like you did." Rarity explained as Dash helped you up, "Rainbow?! Your hair is pulled back and you did not tell me?!"
"Ugh..." Dash said as Rarity ripped out the ponytail and re-did it, except for it laid on Dash's right shoulder. You found her prettier with her hair down, but you didn't care.
Once Rarity stopped fussing, she ordered. You and Dash did after Rarity, and you sat in quiet to eat.
"So, what sports to you play?" You mumbled through your sub.
"I swim, I run, I play basketball, I play soccer, I play baseball occasionally and I play tennis. I barely play tennis but it's good to relieve stress." Dash only had a 6-inch so she was waiting for you to finish your foot long, "I also play with silly string, but you know that."
Dash's eyes looked at you while you were eating, causing you to stare back and stop eating. Even a few pieces of turkey fell out of your mouth from looking into her shiny eyes.
"Done." You finished off, and left the plate there, "7:00pm now."
"I say we go to a club." She suggested.
"On the first night of school? Technically we have another two days until school actually starts though..." You tapped your chin, "Fine."
"Yay! Let's go to Drink Your Music!" She popped up and took your arm, across the street and a few lots down to a club thingy.
The place was just opening, and people were going in. Please don't get drunk...
"And here it is!" Dash shouted over the music, "Vinyl!"
"Oh hey Dash!" This girl wore purple shades, that hid her eyes perfectly. She was the DJ, of course, "Got yourself a friend?"
"Just a friend..!" Dash huffed.
"That's what you said last time, but have you gotten that orange bra back?" Joy, she wasn't kidding.
"No I haven't, whatever." Dash pulled you to Vinyl, and you introduced yourself to her.
"I'm DJ Pon3, but call me Vinyl." Vinyl smiled.
"Have a drink." Dash sat down at the bar along with you, she already ordered a small beer.
"Beer. Beer?! Strange..." You said towards Dash as you ordered the same thing.
"Dash, new guy tonight?" The bartender winked at her.
"Shut up. We're just friends."
"Yeah." You said, causing Dash to you, mouthing 'What?'.
After a while, Dash had a few drinks when you only had one. She was certainly tipsy. You made sure she was latched to your arm as you walked back to the dorm at 10:00pm. As you got there, you plopped Dash in her bed and laid in yours.
"Day. Over." You murmured before falling asleep.
But you woke up an hour later to a weeping. You looked over to Dash, who was curled up in a ball while asleep, the crying coming from her. You got out of your bed and walked over to her silently, hugging her softly. You laid beside her, arm around her waist, to make her stop crying. Make her questionable nightmare stop. You knew what it was about though...
Her family. Next Chapter: Pink Numbers Estimated time remaining: 3 Hours, 41 Minutes
