Chapter 3: Morning Sickness

Over the next week everything was normal. There was the occasional fight between Big Mac and Soarin, along with the few rolls in the hay Applejack had with Soarin. Sometimes Applebloom would argue with Soarin, but they eventually started to get along, well, until one morning.

"SOARIN!" Applejack shouted from her bed. She heard his wings flapping as he flew down the hall to figure out why she was screaming his name without him being in the room.

"What's wrong?!" Soarin said loudly as he flew to her bedside.

"GET ME TO THE BATHROOM!" Applejack screamed, grabbing Soarin's neck tightly.

"Why?" Soarin asked quickly as Applejack started to choke him.

"JUST DO IT!" Applejack screamed, spitting on Soarin's face by accident. He didn't say anything else, afraid that if he tried to question her again she would snap his neck. Within seconds she was in the bathroom sitting on the toilet. Soarin was about to go get Applebloom or Granny Smith in case they were needed, but when he heard Applejack start to heave he knew it was okay for him to go inside.

"Are you okay?" Soarin asked as he carefully sat down next to Applejack, who was still heaving.

"DOES IT LOOK LIKE-" Applejack started to shout before she had to shove her head back over the toilet again. Soarin laughed quietly to himself as she tried to yell at him a few times, each time having to immediately go back to the toilet. Applejack finished heaving a few minutes later and slumped against the wall next to the toilet.

"This is your fault" Applejack said bitterly, causing Soarin to raise an eyebrow.

"How is this my fault?" Soarin asked trying to defend himself.

"Because we, well, you know" Applejack said, starting to feel more feminine again. Why was she suddenly so embarrassed about it now? Every time they've done it she was the one who suggested it, so why is it a touchy subject now of all times?

"Did you eat too much pie?" Soarin asked, oblivious to what she was talking about.

"No, you did" Applejack snapped back.

"What do you-" Soarin said, the realization hitting him like a ton of bricks. It's been about a week since the first time, does this mean she might be...

"Ass" Applejack said bitterly as she tried to get up, slipping back to the ground. She groaned before Soarin offered his hoof to her. Applejack took his hoof angrily and got up, letting him guide her downstairs for breakfast, even though food was the last thing thing she wanted right now. When she reached the bottom of the stairs she could smell fresh pancakes in the kitchen, and could hear Applebloom running towards her.

"Morning!" Applebloom said happily, noticing Applejack's sickly look, "You okay sis?". Applejack groaned in response, so Applebloom walked over to Soarin. Applebloom quickly whispered into Soarin's ear, just quiet enough so that Applejack couldn't hear it. Soarin must have nodded because Applebloom quickly trotted away, humming to herself. The front door opened quickly, the heavy hoof steps letting Applejack know that it was Big Mac coming in for breakfast. Over the past week she managed to find out that ever since the accident he had been waking up at least an hour before sunrise so that he could get all the chores done before dinner.

"Morning Big Mac" Soarin said cheerfully. Big Mac just grumbled in response and Soarin groaned. No matter how many times he tried to make nice with Big Mac things never got better. Applejack asked Granny Smith and Applebloom about it, but all they said was that it was "male tension", which didn't explain anything.

"What's wrong Applejack?" Big Mac asked, noticing how green she was looking.

"Nothing, I'm just not feeling very well" Applejack said, not wanting to give him another reason to make him hate Soarin.

"Ok, if you say so" Mac said, but she could tell he glared at Soarin before turning towards the kitchen. Applejack groaned, causing Soarin to look at her.

"Are you okay, do you need to go to the bathroom again?" Soarin asked while he held her hoof with both of his hooves. She smiled at him and leaned up against him.

"I'm okay, let's go get some food" Applejack said happily, preparing to force herself to eat. As they walked into the kitchen her nostrils were filled with the scent of scrambled eggs and hay bacon. Her morning sickness went away almost immediately after she sat down and had a plate of Granny Smith's eggs in front of her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soarin had insisted on Applejack going to go see Doctor Stable to see if her vomiting really was because of morning sickness, or if she was just getting sick from being back at home. Applejack had been sitting in the waiting room alone for around an hour while Soarin tried to get her an appointment when she finally heard the doctor's door open.

"First day back at home and you already did that?" Doctor Stable said surprised, "I've never had this happen before"

"Me neither" Soarin said with a chuckle, quickly joined by the doctor. Applejack cleared her throat, getting the two stallion's attention.

"Sorry about that Ms. Apple" Doctor Stable said, clearing his throat, "You can come in now". Soarin grabbed Applejack's hoof and helped her into the doctor's office. After she was ready to be examined Soarin left the room, wanting to respect Applejack's privacy.

"So what seems to be the problem Ms. Apple?" Doctor Stable asked, picking up his clip board with his magic.

"Well, I know Soarin told you about, um..." Applejack said, becoming embarrassed again.

"Yes, he told me about that, he also said that you were sick this morning" Doctor Stable said scribbling stuff down onto his clipboard.

"Yeah, I, uh, think I might be pregnant now" Applejack said quietly.

"Well, if you come with me we can check" Doctor Stable said as he grabbed Applejack's hoof. She followed the doctor out of his office and down the hall to a room she didn't know existed. There was a weird smell in the room and the floor felt harder than normal. When she tried to hear for the doctor she couldn't find him in the room, but then there was a loud noise above her.

BING

"Ms. Apple, can you step forward a few feet?"

She recognized the voice as Doctor Stable's but he sounded like he was talking from far away. Applejack listened and walk forwards a few feet stopping when she heard Doctor Stable again.

"You can stop there Ms. Apple, now please stand as still as you can"

Again Applejack complied, standing perfectly still. After a few minutes she could hear a low humming noise and felt a weird sensation run across her body. She tried to stay still, but whatever was going across her was tickling her, and it was going unbearably slow. When it reached the other end of her body she heard Doctor Stable's voice come back.

"Thank you Ms. Apple, Soarin is coming in to get you now"

She turned towards the door, which hissed as it opened making her think she was in one of Applebloom's stories. When she heard Soarin's hooves clicking on the floor she smiled, her hoof getting grabbed a second later.

"Come on, Stable has something to tell you" Soarin said slowly, worrying Applejack. Was she actually pregnant, was something else wrong? During the walk to Doctor Stable's office Applejack was going over a million things that could have gone wrong in her head, each time her ideas getting worse and worse. What if she is pregnant and it's deformed? What if it's going to miscarry? What if-

"Come sit down Ms. Apple" Doctor Stable said from inside his office. Applejack quickly turned towards him and tried to find the chairs in the room. After some fumbling she managed to sit down on her own, with Soarin sitting next to her with his hoof on top of hers.

"What is it Doctor?" Applejack asked worriedly, afraid of what he might say.

"Well, to put it simply, you are pregnant" Doctor Stable said flatly, "Would you like to hear more?"

"Yes sir"

"Ok, well, the scan was able to confirm that the date of conception was the day you went home, and that Soarin is the father" Doctor Stable said as he handed some papers to Soarin. Applejack could hear Soarin flipping through the papers, setting them down after a minute.

"How do you know all this from one scan this early on?" Soarin asked, that being the only thing that bugged him.

"It's a extremely difficult spell developed in the research labs up in Canterlot, it allows us to collect data about a ponies body without having to examine them physically. It is also 33% more accurate" Stable said happily. Soarin picked the papers up again and stood up taking Applejack's hoof with him, telling her that it was time to leave. They said their goodbyes to Doctor Stable and a few of the nurses before leaving. They didn't talk the entire way back to the farm, both of them trying to decide what to do now that they have a baby together.

"Welcome back Applejack!" Rainbow Dash shouted from far away, the sound of her wings flapping rapidly increasing, along with another pony behind her.

"Wait up Rainbow!" Spitfire screamed, not being able to match Rainbow Dash's speed. The two of them landed soon after, nearly blowing the papers away.

"Hey guys" Soarin said in a monotone voice, causing both Spitfire and Rainbow to hum. There was silence as they stared at each other, the three of them trying to guess what was going on from each other's appearance. After a few minutes Applejack heard Rainbow shoot towards Soarin, causing him to let go of the papers, which he was holding with his wing.

"Ooh, what do we have here..." Rainbow said happily as she picked up the papers reading them as she collected them. After she stopping picking up papers Applejack heard something hit Soarin on the back of the head.

"Smooth move you idiot" Rainbow said angrily, hitting Soarin again.

"What did he do Rainbow?" Spitfire asked as she tried to grab the papers, only to be pushed away by Rainbow.

"This little idiot" Rainbow said, emphasizing her words by hitting Soarin again, "Got Applejack pregnant"

"Nice one So-" Spitfire started to say before being cut off by a loud scream from down the road. Applejack recognized the scream and started to back away, Rainbow and Spitfire doing the same, but Soarin stood perfectly still, petrified by what was coming at him.

"SOARIN!" Big Mac screamed, charging full speed down the road at Soarin, "YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET EVER TALKING TO MY SISTER!"

"Hey Soarin?" Applejack asked calmly.

"Yeah?" Soarin squeaked out, still petrified by fear.

"You had better start running"
