From we left off Sonic and Rainbow were trailing at highspeed to a town called Riverside, were both speedsters were handling with a Death Crab Super Bandnik.

"Not a bad race, big guy," Sonic praised it. "But there is no way I'm letting you trampling that town!"

Running up the Death Crab, Sonic lands on top of its face and revs up a Spin Dash, before blasting directly through the entire robot. As the Death Crab begins to fall down on the terrified townspeople, Sonic jumps high up into the air after setting off from the Death Crab's leg. He then comes slamming down on the Death Crab's shell, forcing it into the ground. Landing next to the robot, the confident Sonic is greeted by the townspeople, who begin hailing and praising the blue hedgehog.

"That was so cool!" One of the towns people said.

"I thought we were goners!" another one added.

"How do you move like that?!" another one asked.

"You always grab the folk with coolness," Rainbow said being jealous.

Suddenly, the townspeople leave the scene in fear. Taking a look around, Sonic and Rainbow notices that the Death Crab is still functioning. However, before they can do anything, Amy and Pinkie Pie appears and gives the Death Crab a good whack with her Piko Piko Hammer and blast from Party Cannon.

"You're getting sloppy, Sonic." Amy teased him.

"Amy? Pinkie!?" Rainbow was stunned. "What brings you here?"

"Well news about you, Sonic, Tails, Twilight did in Vista and we hurried over! Amy knew you
stop by here!" Pinkie said.

"Huh?" Sonic being shocked. "World travels fast... neverminded looks like things are under control here. Thanks for the saves! Peace!"

"Sonic-" Amy stop him. "Wait, I came out here specify to find you!"

"Yeah, it's your thing!"

"Not like that!" Amy blushed red. "I mean....you get me so flustered!"

"I need you and Rainbow Dash to come back to resistance."

"Come back?" Rainbow asked. "I thought you were all doing clean up now that the war was over?"

"That was the idea," Pinkie started to explain. "But we didn't on how large the Eggman Empire's army was. The remain bots are now attacking anyone that they find."

"The resistance is working to finish the first." Amy continued. "From organized position we be more effective."

"Nah pass," Sonic declined the offer.

"Oh, for the love of- why?!" Amy asked.

"Both Tails and Twi pointed something that's bugging me," Sonic explained. "The last group badniks we faced were organized."

"What makes this more mysterious is that Dr. Eggman has not showed up to claim responsibility, which is something that does not fit the doctor." Rainbow added. "And it seems kind of coincidental that you and Amy just happens where we are, meaning someone else is playing us."

"Whoops," Amy realized. "I never thought liked that."

"No," Sonic joined in. "All the more the reason for me and Crash to hit the road and find out what's going on!"

"Then it's all more reason for you to come back to the resistance!" Amy insisted the two. "You could spend week or months looking for clues!"

"Saving more folks from badnik attacks." Sonic shot back. "Win-win for everyone!"

Suddenly, a villager named Lanolin shows up running to them with her a pony by who goes by the name of Flame Specter.

"Sonic! Ms. Rose! We're under attack!" Lanolin said.

"It's cool," Sonic reassured her. "We took out the super badnik!"

"No!" Flame Specter interrupted. "There's an army comign from the west side!"

"Oh buck!!" Rainbow stomped her hoof. "It was a decoy!"

"We've got to stop them before the city is overrun!" Amy said.

"We'll run ahead and thin them out!" Sonic said as he and Rainbow took to buy them some time.

"Do you have any defenses?" Amy asked them.

"We turned town hall into a bunked during the war..." Lanolin said.

"Take us there!" Pinkie said.

While Sonic and Rainbow runs ahead to thin out the Badniks, Amy and Pinkie , on the request, were taken to the town hall, which had been turned into a bunker during the Eggman War.

Inside the town, Pinkie rallies Riverside's militia and volunteers and organizes them by getting Wispon-wielding residents into positions on the roofs and instructing the rest on how to get the remaining civilians into the bunker. Meanwhile, the two speedsters tackles some Egg Walkers[ head-on, but is forced on the defensive when some Egg Pawns join the fray. Much to Sonic's annoyance, too many Badniks ultimately slip past him. Fortunately, just as the Badniks enter the town square, the residents open fire on them upon Amy's order and manages to take out the first wave of Badniks.

"Downs goes the first wave!" Pinkie exclaimed then turned to the pink hedgehog. "Wait a minute, wasn't Knuckles the commander of the resistance?"

"He commanded it," Amy said. "Who do you think kept it organized?"

"Nice," Pinkie reazled that Amy kept it check.

"So what the plan?" Rainbow asked.

"This is a good defensed position, and militia is placed well, but, " Amy said.

"Too many badniks?" Sonic asked.

"Too many badniks." Amy darkly said. "We'll be overrun. we need to find where they're coming from so the villagers stand a chance to fend them off."

"Well put, shall we?" Sonic holds his hand.

"Let's!" Amy grab his hands. "Rainbow, you and Pinkie make sure that the people and ponies are safe."

Sonic and Amy thus advance through the invading Badniks to do just that, taking out hordes of Badniks with flashy combination moves. Amidst the fighting, Amy, hoping that Sonic has changed his mind (and that she can spent more time with him), once again invites Sonic to come back to the Resistance. However, Sonic still refuses. Amy argues that he is not even considering it, but Sonic notes that is because he knows what is best for him. Amy subsequently tries convincing Sonic to do it for the Resistance, then her, and then their friends, but Sonic shoots each of her arguments down with counter-arguments. Just as Sonic teasingly agrees to join the Resistance when Amy bribes him with a chili dog, he takes out more Egg Pawns, only to notice a Blowfish Transporter outside the town with plenty of Egg Pawns onboard.

"Looks like we find the drop ship!" Sonic pointed it out.

"There no way we can get through that crowd," Amy said.

"Any conventional means, no. Unless your up for Croquette Bomber!"

"From this distance? You are a daredevil."

Amy knocks a Spin Dashing Sonic into the Blowfish Transporter with her hammer. Taking the Blowfish Transporter out in one shot, Amy finds a dazed, but happy Sonic among its remains then Pinkie and Rainbow caught up with them.

"*Whistles* that was impressive!" Rainbow said. "Nice arm!"

"Thanks, takes some practice!" Amy replied. "But I guess you'll two we be going then..."

"Yep," Sonic agreed. "It's what I do. Doing good, saving lives, living free as the wind. Living on my terms. But, apart from Rainbow, you and Pinks could come along."

"No can do," Pinkie said. "I'm doing a victory celebration.

"The resistance needs me to keep everything in order." Amy being bored. "But if you two don't the direction, Knuckles and Applejack went to investigate a town on the south. I haven't heard from either from them. So they might your help!"

Accepting the assignment, Sonic and Rainbow Dash heads off, not noticing the Flapper watching them.

Back in the Eggman-themed based, an unseen figure is displeased with his failure to eliminate Sonic or Rainbow Dash.

"Another failure, " The figure said. "I did not account for now much Amy Rose has grown."

"And now they are deviating from the projected path. How disappointed! "

Meanwhile, Orbot and Cubot enter, with Orbot informing his "boss" that Sonic is heading towards the location of Rough the Skunk and Tumble the Skunk. Pleased with this, the unseen figure thinks that maybe the skunk brothers can finish off Sonic.
