"Yikes! that doesn't look good," Sonic said as he and Rainbow Dash were running toward to village named Vista View that is under attack.

"Sounds like the locals are putting up a fight," Sonic guessed. "I hope they don't mind us lending a hand or hoof so to speak."

"Enough chitchat," The Peagusas urged. "Let's punch it!"

Both enter the village at high speed hoping to lend a hand Inside the town, a resident armed with a Cube Wispon tells the others to get to their storm bunker. The resident nervously tries to take a stand against the invading but is easily knocked down. Before the Egg Pawns can get him though, Sonic and Rainbow show up and take the Egg Pawns out.

"Hey! You hurt?" Sonic asked.

"N-Not really," the resident said then gasped. "You're Sonic!"

"The one and only," Sonic said. "and the Rainbow Dash."

"Here," Rainbow handed him his Wispon. "Try at the bad guys next time! Right now you need to get some safe and let us handle!"

"Okay!" The resident left.

Both themes took off in a hurry to rescue the rest of the town, advising the resident to hide indoors. Soon after, they stumble upon the Vista View's militia. and tells them that Badniks are coming from the north and to go help the resident he just helped. Caught off-guard, the militia nonetheless agrees. Meanwhile, some Motobugs are about to get a pair of townspeople who are struggling to open the shelter. Fortunately, Sonic takes out the Motobugs, then winks and strikes a cool pose in front of the townspeople before taking off again. Calming down, the townspeople are left star-struck by their coolness.

Then they come across a super Badink: A Egg Hammer!

"Another hammer-guy dude," Sonic groaned.

"I like the other one way better," Rainbow agreed.

Sonic did his Spin Attack while Rainbow fired blasts from her Rainboom Spear. As Sonic gloats at the Egg Hammer to goad it into attacking him, however, he notices that he and Rainbow are surrounded by three more Egg Hammers.

"Yeah," Sonic crosses his arms. "That's one me!

The Egg Hammers take a unified whack at them. However, both of them soon after emerging from a manhole, smugly revealing that they used the underground system before the Egg Hammers could hit him.

"The dogpile thing never works!" Rainbow taunted them as they run from them.

Just as one of The Egg Hammer came into striking range. Tails swoop in and pull Sonic away and Princess Twilight blasted all of them with her magic.

"Tails, Twilight!" Sonic greeted them.

"Just for once," Twilight glared at him. "Can you please not you or Rainbow not risk your lives for five minutes?"

"Sure," Rainbow came in. "But where's the fun in that? But, seriously, thanks for saving our butts!"

"Our pleasure," Tails smiled. "So, what's status of the town?"

"A bunch of small-fry badniks," Sonic debriefed him. "Me and Rainbow took care of most of them and the town's militia can handle the rest."

"Those super badniks are another story," He continued as the Egg-Hammers faced the quartet.

"Those guys are better left to professionals," Twilight smirked as she armed her Sparkle Sword. "You and Sonic flank left, me and Rainbow flank right."

"Done," Sonic said as he rubs his nose.

Sonic and Tails thus decide to destroy them together and use the Rolling Combo to split an Egg Hammer in half. The both of them continue their collaboration from there and manage to take down two more Egg Hammers. Rainbow and Twilight unleash their Sparkle Slash and Rainboom Blast on the others.

"This would be a whole lot easier if Knuckles and Applejack were right now," Tails stated.

"Nahhh," Sonic reassured him. "We can handle this."

"The remaining robots are making a run for it!" Twilight quickly notices that the rest of the Badniks heading out of the town.

"We can't risk them attacking another town," Rainbow pointed out. "Tails cut them off! We got the Super Badnik!"

Sonic did a Spin Attack, while Twilight and Rainbow threw their weapons at the robot's head smashing it.

"Crud, they're almost out!" Sonic seeing them out. "Hurry up, Tails."

"Oh, ye of little faith," Tails said as he closes the town gate, causing the remaining Badniks to crash into the closing gate, destroying them.

"Well?"

"Expertly done," Sonic clapped his hands. "Bonus points, for dramatic timing."

"Thank you,"

"Not bad guys," Rainbow said. "The town is saved and only minimal damage. To be honest the rouge bots are more like pests ."

"Normally I'd agree," Twilight agreed. "But this was a much more coordinated attack at least compared to anything we've seen lately."

"Really? I haven't noticed." Sonic said with a smirk only for the purple alicorn to glare at him.

"Okay fine, so the Egg Hammers we're new to the mix."

"That's not what I meant after we beat Eggman and his army, we broke the Eggman Empire's control over our Mobius and Equestria," Twilight explained.

"The Badnik army remained but not as a unified threat. Any attack seems accident than aggression. Unlike today- unified troops movements, Super Bandinks, and setting up ambushes? Something is making Eggman's army cohesive."

"Okay," Rainbow thought about it. "You think Badly McNosehair is back?"

"Without so much as an angry vlog? No way. "Tails responded. "After his last defeat, he made it pretty clear that he be back. "The lack of fanfare is spooky."

"In that case, the best thing to do is to smash the badniks organized or not," Sonic stated.

"But if they are getting orders from someone..." Tails said on the concern.

"Then it'll be more fun,"

"Just be careful okay?" the fox continued as he grip his arm. "I was scared when you collapsed after the first time we saw Infinite."

"Hey, don't look so glum buddy," Sonic reassured him. "I'll admit, we had some pretty close calls but we've come out fine in the end, right?"

"Yeah,I guess."

"I'll be careful besides Rainbow up for a little run?" Sonic asked the pegasus.

"You know it!" Rainbow winked her eye at him.

"Good to know," Twilight smiled a bit. "I stay around here and help the villagers out knowing you two you find more bots to smash a lot faster."

"Your class act Twi," Sonic said. "We'll catch you later."

Taking their leave, Sonic and Rainbow run out of town. Unbeknownst to them, however, a Flapper is surveying from a distance. Meanwhile, somewhere else, in an Eggman-themed base, an unseen figure is watching the Flapper's surveillance of the two.

So they survived the first attack no surprise there. Deploy a battalion to their nearest location. They'll be drawn like a moth to a flame. Make that their success reaches Ressisnatce HQ. I want not to crush both hedgehogs, and the pegasus but also that annoying party pony as well!
