It was a calm day at the beach with Sonic doing what he always does when there's no adventure chilling at a beach.

"Hey, Sonic," Rainbow Dash came flying down. "What hanging?"

"Nothing much," Sonic replied to Rainbow. "Just relaxing. It's been a wild couple of days of pure adventure and action. Nothing much better to do than kicking back and relaxing. So how are the rest of the guys doing?"

"Amy and Sunset are helping others on the rebuilding. Knuckles is back on Angel Island guarding the Master Emerland, Applejack is back working on the farm. Rarity is resuming business with her fashion empire. Starlight and Sunburst are helping Sliver of searching some way to rewrite the future. Pinkie has resumed planning parties with Cheese Sandwich. Twilight and Spike helping Tails with his pet projects."

"What about Flutters?"

"Back to her cottage."

"Figures, I tried to tell them they could relax since Eggman hang up the tools and Metal Sonic is somewhat less dangerous... next thing you know something's bad is going happen."

"Sonic!" Spike can right on cue. "Something's wrong!"

"Okay. Spike, calm down, and start from the beginning."

Spike hands Sonic a letter he received at his workshop out of nowhere. The letter detailed how Windmill Village will celebrate the return of "the world's most brilliant doctor".

"Where did you get it?" Rainbow asked.

"It just appeared in the workshop, Tails and Twilight went there to check it out. You think that Eggman is back?"

"High possibility, but it's best to see when we get there, race ya there Crash!"

"You are on!"

Meanwhile, in a Secret Lab, Eggman and Starline is preparing for testing his new machine, as Cozy Glow and Chrysalis enter the room.

"Good news, Doc," Cozy chirped. "Sonic had taken the bait as your orders.

"Excellent!" Eggman cheered.

"But did we have to be so overt?" Chrysalis groan. "It would have more simple to ambush him."

"Yes, but messing with the head is a more dependable idea," Starline explained. "Knowing that Eggman is back and up to something will do just that. So, sir are we ready to begin?"

"Yes, Test one!"

Starline then takes a look at Eggman's new machine. As the machine is activated, it spills a liquid that transforms a flower into metal.

"Marvelous!" As Starline is happy about the success of the transmutation.

"The active plant tissue but not the wood," Eggman said before he turn to Cozy. "I need more data, Cozy, bring me the animals.

Sonic and the others arrive at Windmill Village, not noticing anything threatening around. However, they do notice that there are no villagers around, leading Tails to wonder if Eggman had kidnapped them. Sonic suggests that Eggman would not do that without causing property damage. The duo soon finds a tied-up Elder Scruffy hanging from a tree.

"Elder Scrfffy! What happened?" Sonic asked as Twilight let him down.

"First two thugs kidnap Mr. Tinker and then out of nowhere some kind of shadow creature had everyone locked in the community center."

"Shadow creature?" Twilight asked. "What did look like? And how long was Mr. Tinker was grabbed?

"Is were to guess he had a metal mask and breathing very heavy and for how long is was about a week."

"Well is no doubt that was Shadowforce," Twilight wondered. "And these thugs what did they look like?"

"Oh, we are glad to tell you!" A voice relpiled.

"Oh, buck! No them again!" Rainbow groaned.

"Prepare to get wrecked!"

"Prepare to get pummeled!"

"It's payback time for Rough and Tumble!"
