The group had just arrived in Shalour City earlier this morning and were currently receiving their Pokémon from the Pokémon Center after their quick checkup.

"Thank you, for waiting. Your Pokémon are just fine," Nurse Joy said as she gave everyone's Pokémon back.

"Great, Thanks, Nurse Joy," Ash said as Pikachu was on his shoulder. "Alright, now we can go and challenge Korrina."

"Wow, Ash, you can't wait," Pinkie commented.

"But still, Korrina and Lucario are strong. Are you sure ready?" Applejack asked.

"And what about Lemon Zest's rhythmic battle style? You haven't mastered that yet," Zane added.

"Hey, I'll be fine. As long as tackle that battle head-on, I'll be fine," Ash said.

"If only he would do that," Twilight muttered to her Espeon.

The group headed out the back way and they could see the Shalour Gym just ahead.

"It's so beautiful," Fluttershy commented.

"It sure is," Rarity said.

"That's the Tower of Mastery, the gym is in there," Sunset explained, pointing to an island right off the coast.

"How do we get there?" Zane asked.

"I don't see any bridge," Clemont noted.

"It looks like it's just floating in the ocean," Pinkie added.

"So much for walking," Serena continued.

"Come on, We came all this way and we can't get to the gym, that's nuts," Ash complained. "I wanna have a battle now!"

"Pika Pika!"

"Those who seek power, show your heart and the path shall reveal itself," Korrina said as she arrived.

"Repeating your grandfather now, Korrina?" Sunset asked sarcastically.

"He does have some good advice though," Korrina answered.

"So good to see you again," Rainbow said as her Lucario appeared.

"Good to see you again too. Welcome to Shalour City."

"You came over here just to meet us?" Clemony asked.

"Yeap, I figured you'd be showing up soon so I've been waiting for you. If you're trying to get to the Shalour Gym, that means one thing, you must be fully prepared to challenge me, is that true, Ash?"

"Of course," Ash said confidently.

"I've been training hard since I last saw you, and I've beaten every challenger."

"Amazing! Awesome! But soon I'm going to beat you and Mega Lucario and win my Kalos Badge!"

"Hate to ruin the moment here, but isn't the gym over there?" Applejack pointed to the Tower of Mastery.

"We'll have to have to wait for the tides to drop before we can get over there, and who knows when that will happen," Hilda explained.

"Wait for later!?" Ash exclaimed.

"There's a saying, Those with a desire to battle must wait patiently," Korrina resited.

"What are you talking about?" Rainbow asked.

"It's a family motto that we lived by. It's going to be a while before we get over there."

"Oh no! But I want to have a battle now."

"Now now, calm down. It's okay, you'll have a bit more time to train. Remember, Korrina's even stronger now," Clemont pointed out.

"I guess you're right," Ash said. "Alright, everyone out!"

Ash let out all of his Pokémon so they could start.

"You've caught a Hawlucha, and Fletchling evolved into Flecthinder. You've really been thinking about to counter fighting-type gym."

"Sure have."

"But, if you're training probably shouldn't watch, right?"

"That's a good point, if you watch him train, that would give away his strategy," Clemont realized.

"That's okay with me."

"You sure?" Applejack asked.

"We always battle our opponents head-on, We've got nothing to hide, do we?" Ash asked his Pokémon and they nodded. "Then let's get to work on our grooves, and we'll win that badge for sure."

"You might not want to watch," Sunset wanted Korrina quietly.

"So I don't know to counter his strategy?"

"No, so you won't have a nightmare," Sunset replied as Ash started training and it wasn't going well. They were dancing, but it was all over the place.

"I see what you mean," Korrina cringed a bit.

"Told you," Sunset replied.

The training went on for a bit and watching Ash's training made Korrina go a little cuckoo.

"Okay, I think I'm going crazy watching this. You want to battle?" Korrina asked.

"I'm down," Sunset said.

The two headed for another battlefield not too far away from the Pokémon Center and got ready.

"Alright, Lucario, let's go!" Korrina said and Lucario stepped forward.

"Lucario, huh, time to go, Lucario," Sunset said as she released hers.

"Wow, you Riolu evolve!"

"Yeah, he evolve a few days ago and he's got some surprises."

"We just see, Lucario, Bone Rush!"

"Use your Bone Rush!"

Both Lucario uses their Bone Rush only to be knocked back a bit.

"You weren't kidding about the surprises, That's fast."

"He sure is, Now, Dragon Pulse!

"Dodge and use Metal Sound!"

Lucario fired Metal Sound just as the Dragon Pulse made contact.

"Power-up Punch!"

Both Lucarios hit each other with Power-Up Punch.

"Lucario! Can you still battle?" Korrina asked.

"Luca!"

"Great. Lucario, Mega Evolve!" Korrina shouted as her Lucario Mega Evolved. "Now use Power-up Punch!"

"Stop him with Bone Rush!"

Lucario prepare to strike with Bone Rush but Mega Lucario dodged it and strike with Power-up Punch.

"Use Power-Up Punch!"

"Metal Sound than Aura Sphere!"

Lucario ran through the Metal Sound, tanked the Aura Sphere, and hit Mega Lucario with Power-up Punch. Lucario fell to the ground and returned to his normal form.

"Nice work, Lucario," Sunset said.

"Wow, it's really strong," Korrina commented.

"Yeah, he is, he had help from Flareon and Quilava's training."

"Oh shoot, we better head back."

Sometime later the group stood on the beach right in front of the tower waiting for the tide to fall. It eventually happened and they crossed over.

"Alright! Let's have that battle!" Ash exclaimed.

"No need to be hasty," Gurkinn said as he opened the doors and stepped outside.

"How are you, sir?" Nice to see you again," Ash greeted.

"Glad you made it," Gurrkinn responded.

"Me too. I'm here to challenge the gym!"

"But before you do, you must listen to what I tell you. Fact is that's the rule when anyone comes to this island," Gurkinn started.

"Here we go again," Korrina said.

"What do you want to tell us?" Rarity asked.

"A valuable story. It concerns Mega Evolution."

Everyone headed inside to see a Mega Lucario Statue.

"It's huge!" Bonnie and Pinike exclaimed.

"Amazing!" Rainbow awed.

"This statue symbols our family friend, and our bond with Mega Lucario," Gurkinn explained. "You see, the history of Mega Evolution began long ago with the arrival of one of my ancestors right here on the island. This man was traveling and training with his Lucario when they found two peculiar stones right here. It's generally believed that what happened next was the world's Mega Evolution."

"So this where Mega Evolution started," Twilght said in awe.

"That's right. Our family has lived here and protected Mega Evolution Island ever since."

"Wow, this is an important place," Fluttershy commented.

That is when everyone heard Ash's stomach rumble.

"Whoops, empty tummy," Ash said.

"The fact is, we haven't had dinner yet," Clemont told Korrina.

"In that case, it's already pretty late, we can have our gym battle tomorrow. You all can stay here for the night," Korrina offered.

After they had dinner, the gang was all in bed fast asleep that's when the alarm went off.

"What's going on?" Bonnie asked.

Everyone ran out and heard Gurrkinn yelling at someone.

"Korrina, they stole the Scroll of Secrets!" He pointed at Team Rocket who Jaden, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack chased after them.

"You're not getting away!" Jaden shouted.

"Says, you!" Duke shot back. "Slumga. go!"

"Inkay, you too!" James and Duke called out their Pokémon.

"Flamethrower!"

The move hit the ramp in front of the three and Rainbow almost fell off but Applejack grabbed her.

"Thanks, AJ," Rainbow said.

"Inkay, Psybeam!"

"I don't think so! Swellow, Hyper Beam!"

Inkay was hit before he could launch his attack forcing him and James to fall back.

"Let's go, come on," Jaden said as he jumped the gap with Rainbow and Applejack right behind him. The three made their way to the top of the tower and found Team Rocket climbing into their balloon.

"Leaf Blade!" Applejack shouted. Grovlye cut the balloon and separated the basket as the balloon flew away.

"That was my head!" Meowth shouted.

"We weren't ready to go yet!" Cylde added.

"Do you losers ever give up?" Applejack asked.

"You're going nowhere," Jaden stated.

"And you're not getting this scroll," Adagio shot back as threw out Staraptor.

"Time to go, Sneasel," Jaden prepared to bring Sneasel but Applejack stopped him.

"Wait, I'll handle them," Applejack said as she jumped down to face them and called out Roggernola.

"What, just you?" Aria mocked.

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" Applejack asked confidently.

"Such sass. Kay Inkay, Psybeam!"

"Slumga, Rock Slide!"

"Roggernola, Flash Cannon!"

Roggernola fired Flash Cannon that zeroed out the Psybeam and Rock Slide, just as Staraptor did Gust but Roggernola held its ground.

"Come on. little buddy, you got this," Applejack assured it.

"Rogg!" Roggernola shouted then glowed.

"It's evolving!" Jaden said as Roggernola evolve into Boldore.

"Boldore!"

"Awesome!" Rainbow cheered.

"This isn't looking good," Sonata said worriedly. "Any ideas?"

"We attack all at once!" Jessie said as she release Pumpkaboo, Cylde released Excadrill, Aria and Sonata released Simisear and Yamask.

"Shadow Ball!"

"Psybeam!"

"Air Slash!"

"Heat Wave!"

"Rock Slide!"

"Bulldoze!"

"Golurk, Earthquake!"

Golurk managed to disrupt all of them with an Earthquake that caused the map to fall out of James's hand and into Jaden's possession.

"Got the map, let them have it!"

"Ready, Rainbow?" Applejack asked.

"I am always ready!" Rainbow did a thumbs up.

"Combusken, Fire Spin!" "Grovyle. Energy Ball!"

Both attacks hit Team Rocket and send them flying out of the Tower.

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" They screamed as they disappeared out of sight.

Much Later...

"Here is the scroll," Applejack said to Gurkinn.

"Thank you," Gurkinn said.

"That's the Scroll of Secrets," Clemont said looking at it.

"What does it say? Show us," Bonnie requested.

"But we're not allowed to see it, right?" Rarity asked.

"Since you managed to get the scroll back, I'll make an exception."

"Wow! You mean it?" Pinkie asked then Gurrkinn read the scroll to them which surprised most of them.

"Uh, I don't want to sound a bit rude but is that really the Scroll of Secrets?" Rarity asked.

"You doubt me? It took a lot of effort. I spent a lot of hours writing this so gym leaders could be at the peak of perfection."

"So is there anything on ancestor's history?" Hilda asked.

"Uh, no. Not a single thing," Gurrkinn answered then the group flopped to the ground in disbelief.

"For what reasons I wasn't surprised," Sunset wondered.

"That's my grandfather for you," Korrina stated.
