Chapter 33: Chapter 32-PokéEnteering! The X in the Mist!
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Good evening, everyone! Is everyone having a good time?" Professor Sycamore asked then everyone said yes. "That's marvelous to hear, thanks. And I just happen to have an event tomorrow that's even more marvelous. So get ready for a favorite tradition at summer camp: Pokémon Orienteering!"
"Pokémon Orienteering?" Fluttershy asked.
"You see the object of the race is for all teams to get cards stamped at every checkpoint as quickly make their to the finish line," he explained. "Teams Froakie and Squirtle are tied at 17 pts, but all teams have a chance to win. So do your best and above all have fun!"
"Those 10 points are as good as ours!" Indigo boasted.
"Oh yeah? Those points belong to us!" Rainbow counted.
"Hey, Ash, how's the foot?" Twilight asked.
"Good as new," Ash answered as he tapped it on the floor.
"If we win, we'll be in the lead with 27," Lemon Zest told her team.
"You're going to have to beat us to do it," Pinkie countered.
"Looking at the facts with a cool head, there's no way we can lose," Sugarcoat added.
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch," Applejack reminded her. "May the best team win."
The Next Day the teams were now at the starting line and were currently reviewing the map as Sycamore made a quick announcement.
"Good morning to you all. It's time to begin Day 5 with some Pokémon Orienteering. A chance to your best efforts with team cooperation."
"We're going to win those 10 pts for sure!" Rainbow said confidently.
"With a doubt," Rarity added.
"Let's go. All for one and one for all," Pinkie stated as Team Froakie put their fist together and threw them into the air.
"Alright. On your mark. Get set. And go!"
The teams then started heading toward the first check even with Clemont slowing them down a bit, they reached the first checkpoint first with Team Squirtle right behind.
"According to the map, the checkpoint is supposed to be right here, but I don't see anything," Ash noted.
"Pika Pika!"
The two teams saw Sophie on the top cliff beside them.
"Please send one team member along with their Pokémon to get the stamp!"
"We have to climb all way up there?" Zane asked.
"That's a little extreme," Serena commented.
"I climb cliffs all the time, this should be easy, ready Pikachu!" Indigo asked.
"Pi Pikachu!"
Both Indigo and Pikachu climb themselves up.
"They're good alright but we'll have no problem getting up there," Ash said as he called out Froakie. "Are you ready to go up with me?"
Froakie nodded and the two started to climb after Indigo who was already halfway up there. Pikachu jumped to the next segment and the cliff fell under Pikachu's feet. causing her to fall down. Indigo caught her but the force sent him off as well. "Quick Froakie, use your frubbles, now!" Ash ordered. Froakie used his frubbles to make a soft land for Indigo and she landed safely.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, look like I own you one."
Ash, now ahead, soon got to the stamp and was on his way down. It hardly mattered anyway as Team Squirtle managed to pull ahead before they got to the second checkpoint with Sunny Flare using Serperior's vines to keep herself stable with Rarity crawling across with Whimsicott over the swaying bridge.
Once Serena was back, the team was able to get past Team Squirtle and to the third checkpoint which was a cave maze. Clemont entered with Sugarcoat right behind him. Clemont managed to get the stamp first and headed to the next checkpoint.
It was located on a small rock in the middle of the river with stones to hop across but Sunset could bypass it easily.
"This will be a piece of cake," Sunset said. "Ready, Riolu?"
Sunset and Riolu leaped to the stamp station. After two more checkpoints, both Team Froakie and Squirtle were neck and neck as they made theirs to the finish line. But it was starting to get foggy and Sunset was pretty sure they had gotten lost.
"Clemont!" Sunset heard a voice shout and she thought she recognized Bonnie's voice. Running towards it she found Bonnie separated from the rest of the group and Sunset couldn't find them either.
"Bonnie, you alright?" Sunset asked.
"I'm fine, but where is everyone?" Bonnie asked nervously.
"Dedenne!"
"I don't know, but this fog feels really unnatural," Sunset answered that when something came by them. It looked a like a bigger and skinnier version of a Sawbuck, but the horns were glowing.
"Sunset what's going on with the flowers?" Bonnie asked as the flowers started to bloom.
"Could it be..." Sunset got a better look at it. "I think that's Xerneas."
"As one of the legendary Pokémon, Xernas'?"
"I've heard stories about it. Never thought I would see it with my own eyes."
Then suddenly a Beedrill appeared from behind and attack them. Riolu reacted quickly and did a Rock Smash to the head and the Beedrill ran off.
"That was close," Bonnie commented as she went to sit down but Sunset took note that she was about to sit on an Amoonguss.
"Bonnie, look out!" Sunset shouted, but the Amoonguss already released Spore, and Sunset, Bonnie, and the Pokémon got a dose of it and fell asleep.
...
Ash and the others were looking for Sunset and Bonnie. They were following some tracks Lemon Zest found Rarity's Chimchar cleared the fog a bit. Ash and Rainbow sent their flying Pokémon to search for their friends but they hadn't come back yet.
"And now we lost the trail," Lemon Zet groaned.
"Sunset, Bonnie," Rainbow called out then heard Flecthinder, Swellow, and Crobat circling overhead. "Maybe they found them."
"Let's go see," Applejack said. As the group hopped over a fallen tree an Amoonguss let out Spre, forcing the group to cover their mouths.
"Water! Spray it with water!" Sugatcoat said.
"Right, Clawizter, Water Gun!" Sunny Flare called it out. Once Water Gun was used the Spore's started to clear.
"Good idea," Hilida commented as she grabbed Golduck Pokéball. "Clemont, quick, bring out Chespin."
Then two then threw out their Pokémon.
"Water Pulse!"
"Pin Missile!"
The Water Pulse flew over the Spore and Chespin's Pin Missile hit the Water Pulse popping it like a balloon and sending the water over the remaining Spores.
"That's care of that!" Zane noted.
"So, sorry, Amoonguss," Fluttershy apologized then the Pokémon left as Swellow landed on a tree.
"Swell. Swellow!"
The gang followed Swellow all the way and they see Sunset with Riolu by her side sleeping.
"Sunset and Riolu!" Jaden shouted as he and Twilight ran up to the two.
"They're both asleep. You think they were hit by Amoonguss's Spores?" Rarity wondered.
"Could be. And that means Bonnie could have as well," Clemont added.
"Then where's the little dudette?" Indigo Zap asked.
"Pika Pika!" Both Pikachus pointed in the direction of Bonnie.
"How the heck did she get over here?" Applejack asked.
"I don't know, but we've got to get over there," Zane responded.
"But how do we get across this ravine?"Fluttershy asked. "Clemont, why don't you use your Aipom Arm?"
"Too short. It won't reach."
"So now what are we going to do?" Serena asked.
"Wait a minute," Pinkie looked further down in the ravine and saw something. "There's a bunch of Drifloon and Drifbilm at the bottom. Maybe there's a way to get them to help us."
"Maybe if we startle them, maybe they'll fly up to us," Clemont suggested.
"Then what?" Rainbow asked.
"When they fly up, they'll fill in the ravine and we can use them as a bridge!" Sugarcoat realized.
"I handle this, she's sister," Clemont said then Rainbow stopped.
"Hold on a second, I'm good with this kind of stuff."
"Rainbow are you sure?"
"I'm sure, just get them to fly up. I'll be over there in no time," Rainbow assures him.
A few moments later a series of attacks got the Drifloon and Drifbilm to float up to the top of the ravine.
"Alright, Rainbow, you got this!"
Rainbow crossed over the Drifbilm bridge easily and ran up to Bonnie, who was asleep. Rainbow put Bonnie on her shoulders and cross back to the others.
Much later at the camp...
"Sorry about that everyone," Sunset apologized.
"Me too," Bonnie added.
"No worries, it was awesome and above all, you two managed to see Xerneas!" Lemon Zest exclaimed.
"I still can't believe we saw it," Rarity was still puzzled.
"I hope to see it again," Ash added hoping to see the Legendary Pokémon again.
