As our heroes continued their way to Shaluor City, they made their way to a town called Slackstack where they were holding their annual Tag-Team Tournament which Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Serena, and Jaden all signed up for.

Moments later at the town Stadium...

"It feels like the Pokémon Legaue!" Rainbow stated. "I can't wait to get this started!"

"This is very exciting! Isn't it!"

Weclome, you and aspiring Trainers, to the Slackstack Tag-Team Tournament, where you pair and have some fun!

As the announcer went on, Jaden look around to see the others trainers.

"The trainers look pretty tough, I think we're about some fun around. What you do think, Marshstomp?"

"Marsh!"

And so buckle up, for the next three days, this stadium will burn with excitement.

Both the trainers and the audience cheered.

And now to find your tag partner just look for the number and the number next to yours! This will be your tag partner for the duration of the competition! Alright then! Time to see who's who. Make sure you have registration cards.

Everyone looked at their cards. Rainbow's card was 15. Serena was 28. Jaden was 16. And Twilight was 23 then there are partner numbers showing up. Rainbow's number was 5, Jaden's was 21, Serena's was 9, and Twilight was 2.

"I'm the A block!"

"And I'm in the H Block!"

Now, using those as a guide, find your Tag Team Partner!

With that, the 32 trainers walked around, looking for their partners. A few of them found their partner already.

"Um. I'm number 16! I trying to look for Number 21!" Jaden called.

"Let's see... where's number 9?' Serena asked looking around.

"Well, how are you, number 28?" A boy's voice called out making Serena turn around and smiled.

"I'm fine!" Serena exclaimed. "I'm Serena and this Fennekin. What's your name?"

"Masquerade is my name, a pleasure to meet you," He smiled darkly making Serena and Fennekin shiver in fear, backing up slightly.

With Jaden...

"Anyone with 21?" Jaden called because he got tapped by some.

"Uh excuse me, are you number 16?" A girl asked him.

"Yeah, I'm 16, Name's Jaden."

"Great, my name is Star Lilly, looks likes we're partners for the tournament."

"Yeah, it looks like we are!"

"I guess, Jaden and Serena found their partner," Twilight said then she heard a familiar voice.

"Hey, Twiliy! Over here!"

Twilight turned to an old face that Twilight knew too well.

"Flurry Heart!? Is really you?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's me, Twilight! I'm glad to see you again, in 5 years!" Flurry Heart exclaimed while her Meganium came right behind.

"A Meganium? That means your Chikorita had fully evolved."

"I see your Eevee evolved into Espeon," Flurry Heart said. "Say, where are Ash and Pikachu ?"

"There in the stands, I'll introduce you later to my friends. Should we get ready?"

"Yes."

With Rainbow...

"So who's my partner?" Rainbow asked.

"Of course, it had to be you," Someone snorted.

"Lighting," Rainbow muttered seeing her Rival as well as the others.

"I never expected her to be here," Jaden said.

"You know her?" Serena asked.

"Yeah, I've battled her during my time in Unova, she's pretty good but she doesn't share the glory with the others," Jaden replied.

"Talk about luck of the draw," Serena said.

The two turned to see Rainbow and Lighting glare at each other.

"I guess I got no choice, make sure you don't get in my way!" Lighting snapped.

"What do you mean by that, uh hello we have to win this together."

Then the announcer came on again.

In a Tag Battle the real key to success is the trust of the trainers and their Pokémon which is why the winning team of the Tournament shall receive the beautiful Soothe Bell! A bell that produces the sound that brings peace and joy to everyone who hears it!

"Now that's what I call a prize!" Serena said.

Alright, by now you found your Tag Battle partners, The battle festivals don't commence until this afternoon! So you have until then to practice with your partner!

The screen showed the bracket of the matches.

"So, Serena, you're lucky to have been paired with me!" Masquerade smirked. "After careful analysis of every League Battle and including the present, I've calculated the proper formula for assuring that is victory is ours!"

"Well, that's great!" Serena said uneasily.

"So, Star Lilly should we talk battle strategy," Jaden suggested.

"Yes, that good idea," Star Lilly suggested as her Wingll chirped happily.

Later...

And now let me explain the rules as the kickoff of our first match! Each trainer will use one Pokémon with no time limit! And no substitutions! Whichever team ends up unable to battle is defeated! And the winners will advance to the second round.

And our first battle will be in the A Block! So! It's off the Pokémon battlefield!

"Fennekin, take stage!"

"Slowking, go!"

Serena and Masquerade called out their Pokémon as their opponents sent their Pokémon, which were Scyther and Koffing.

"Now you go right and bring the offense, and let me worry about defense and try not to think too much," Masquerade said to her.

"Yeah, right," Serena muttered.

Okay, let the battle begin!

Tag Battle
Serena and Masquerade vs Volt and Penny

"Now, Scyther! Razor Wind!"

"Koffing, now, Sludge Bomb!"

Scyther unleashed sharp winds toward Fennekin, as Koffing fired the Sludge Bomb at Slowking.

"Fennkin! Use Flamethrower!"

Fennekin shot her Flamethrower at the Razor Wind which canceled each other out however the Sludge Bomb was still on its way to Fennekin and Slowking.

"Now Slowking, Safeguard!"

Slowking put up a barrier that null the Sludge Bomb that kept both Slowking and Fennekin safe.

"Uh, Clemont was that?" Bonnie asked her big brother.

"That was Safeguard, it makes them immune to moves like poison or paralysis," Clemont explained.

"Now Koffing! Thunderbolt!"

Kofffing fired a strong electric blast at Fennekin and Slowking again.

"Quick, dodge it!"

"Now, Protect!'

Before the Fox Pokémon could dodge, Slowking set another barrier saving from the Thunderbolt.

Serena and Fennekin were amazed by the defense of Masquerade.

"I told you, I'll take care of the defense. You can do whatever you want, because covering you, no matter what,"

"Got it!"

"Scyther! X-Scissor, let's go!"

"Flamethrower before Scyther can do it!"

Fennekin fired the Flamethrower landing a direct hit at Scyther making it fall to the ground.

"Now, Gryo Ball!"

Koffing spun fast at Slowking, and Masquerade sneered.

"Psychic!"

Slowking stopped Koffing in its track with the Psychic Type move which made Volt's jaw drop as Serena cheered.

"Do it, Slowking!"

Slowking made one movement with a finger, forcing Koffing to smash at the ground. Koffing fainted!"

Both Scyther and Koffing cannot battle! This means the battle goes to Fennekin and Slowking[./b]

"That Masquerade is very big on getting defensive, Serena got herself an interesting partner!" Jaden said stated.

"They're unstoppable, that's for sure!" Rainbow said smiling then turned to Lighting. "You know, we should be doing something like that!"

Then a Fire Spin narrowly missed her and she was knocked down on the floor.

"What was that for!?" Rainbow asked.

"Give Torchic your suggestions," Lighting scoffed at her. Twilight and Jaden turned to see Lighting's Torchic along with Rainbow.

"Torchic? You've been working on your Fire Spin, haven't you?"

"Tor!"

"A weak Fire Spin from a weak flame! Even if you have no control over it!" Lighting scolded.

"Well, I think it was great! Say, why don't we help you two out?"

"Sorry, we don't need your help."

"You haven't changed a bit, haven't you? Criticizing your Pokémon is only the best thing you do!" Twilight snapped.

"Just what kind of trainer are you?" Flurry Heart asked.

"Someone that wants to grow stronger, kid! Come on, we're leaving!"

Before Lighting was gone, Rainbow asked her something.

"Why did you enter this thing in the first place?"

"So I meet Fire Type Pokémon!" She answered and then left.

In the stands...

"What did she mean by meet Fire Types?" Fluttershy asked.

"I know what she's talking about," Ash started to explain. "She wants to use her opponent's Fire attacks to juice Torchic's!"

"My word that's barbaric!" Rarity exclaimed.

"It makes sense," Clemont stated.

"But won't that cause pain for the Pokémon if they try to use their opponent's attack only to make them stronger?" Fluttershy asked.

"Knowing Lighting she doesn't even care," Zane explained. '

"What kind of trainer does make him, then?" Bonnie asked.

"A cruel one that's for sure," Sunset said.

Our next match for the first round is D-Block! So we're off to the battlefield!

Twilight and Flurry Heart were facing off against Taylor and Marcus.

"Hey, Flurry Heart, don't even think about going easy on us!"

"Don't worry! Twilight and I won't!"

"Surf's up, Prinplup!"

"Go, Dusclops!"

"Espeon, it's for battle!"

"Corphish, it's you!"

All four of them called their Pokémon who were prepared for battle.

Battle begin!

Tag Battle
Taylor and Marcus vs Twlight and Flurry Heart

"Time to splash it up! Bubble!"

"Dusclpos! Will-o-Wisp now!"

Prinplup fired Bubble and Duscolps fired Will-o-Wisp at Corphish and Espeon.

"Esepon, use Psybeam!"

Espeon used Psybeam which broke through and hit both opposing Pokémon.

"No way!"

"Let's keep the pressure! Quick Attack!

"Intercept with Water Pulse!"

"Corphish, use Knock Off!"

Espeon dodged the Water Pulse and delved a quick strike at Prinplup and Cornphish did a hard slap at Dusclops.

"Now, Prinpulp, Drill Peck!"

"I don't think so, Attract!"

Espeon used Attract on the attack Prinplup stopped it completely and fell in love since their since it's a boy and Espeon a girl.

"Duscolps, Psychic!"

"Not a chance, Crab Hammer!"

Corphish hammered Dusclops with its pincer making the Ghost-type fall down.

Dusclops cannot battle!

"Now, Use Psybeam, one more time!"

Espeon used Psybeam at the lovestruck Prinpulp which hit and Prinpulp was down for the count.

Prinpulp cannot battle as well. The winner goes to Espeon and Corphish!

"Yes second, round here we come!" Flurry Heart said as she and Twilight high-fived each other.

Later the battle of Star Lilly and Jaden and Eddie and Daniel were underway...

"Now, Wingull, Blizzard!"

Wingull flew up high to prepare the Ice Type move.

"Now Yanma! Steel Wing, let's go!"

Jaden took note of how Yanma's speed with its Speed Ability.

"I think Yanma is going to catch up with that speed!"

But it is too late as Yanma's Steel Wing has struck at Wingull.

"Now Bagon, Zen Headbutt!"

Bagon's head glowed as he charged right at Wingull.

"Quick, straight up!"

"There's no time! Now, Golurk use Flash Cannon!"

Gorluk fired its Flash Cannon which Bagon in its tracks.

"What are you doing!? Yanma was doing well!"

"Oh yeah, you better counterattack, or we're doomed!"

At the stands...

"This is no place for those to fight," Ash grumbled.

"Whatever the cost, Jaden and Star Lilly has got this in the bag," Sunset said.

Back to the battle...

"Alright, let's pull together and win this!"

"Okay, Wingull Bizzard!"

Wingull blew some cold. landing both direct hits at Bagon and Yanma!

That powerful Blizzard had both Yanma and Bagon some serious damage!

"Bagon, Dragon Breath!"

"Now Golurk, use Earthquake!"

Gorluk's Ground-type may Bagon unbalanced and it yelled in pain, while Wingull used Aerial Ace and knocked out Yanma.

Bagon and Yanma are unable to battle! The winners go to Golurk and Wingull.

Later a few matches passed, and it was time for Rainbow and Lighting's battle.

The time has come for the last battle of the first round! As in this case, last is certainly the least!

"Alright, Jolteon, let's rock and roll!"

"Torchic, stand by!"

As Rainbow and Lighting called theirs, the other two called theirs as well reveling to Magmar and Rhydon.

"Looking Lighting is ready to make her move now, Focus Rainbow, let's strike hard and strike fast!" Rainbow thoughted to her.

Now then! Battle begin!

Scientist and Cool Trainer vs Rainbow and Lighting

"Alright, let's show a Thunderbolt!"

Jolteon used Thunderbolt at Magamar instead Rhydon got zapped.

"What!?"

"I guess you didn't know Rhydon's special ability,"

"Ability? You mean it has the Lighting Rod?"

"Of course, it has it, you have no clue."

"Give me a break!"

"Magamer! Use Lava Plume!

Magamar unleashed hot air of flames around the battle as Rhydon took the hit.

"This our chance, Torchic go!'

"Even with Torchic being a Fire-Type this fire is going to cause major damage!"

"Jolteon, get out of the way!"

Jolteon moved out of the way but Torchic braced the Lava Plume.

Lave Pulme engulfs Torchic completely!

"Now, Fire Spin!"

Torchic's firepower was hotter than ever as hit Rhydon.

"Nice!"

"I knew it, she would do that!" Jaden said while his Magmar and Serena's Fennekin glared at Lighting.

"Use Hammer Arm!"

Rhydon's Hammer Arm sends Chimchar into the air and slammed to the ground.

"Now, Double Kick!"

Jolteon used its back legs and strike at Rhydon with force.

"It may be an Electric Type, but we have to be careful!"

"Right Magmar, Protect!"

"Rhydon, Surf, let's go!"

As Magmar made a barrier, Rhydon created a giant wave that headed straight for Jolteon and Torchic.

"Torchic, Flame Charge!"

"What are you doing!?" We're going to lose!"

"Is trying she trying to lose on purpose?" Applejack asked.

Torchic hesitated a little, before doing the Flame Charge despite Jolteon's warning not to do it!

"Torchic stopped your going to get creamed! Wait, I got it, Jolteon, Use Pin Missile on the Surf then use Double Kick !"

Jolteon leaped in the air and fired the Pin Missile stopping the Surf and giving a deadly Double Kick to the ground, and fainted.

What a move! He covered Torchic and scored a direct hit KO!

"What an attack!"

"I do it my way! Jolteon, Thunderbolt!"

"Torchic, Dig!"

Jolteon's Thunderbolt took Magmar by surprise which allowed Torchic's Dig to hit and knocked out Magamar!

Magamar and Rhydon cannot battle, Jolteon and Torchic are the winners!

And with that, Lighting and Rainbow move on to the second round!

In the stands...

"I'm glad that they won," Applejack sighed, "But that wasn't an example of teamwork I've seen."

"I'm with you, they only won due to their single efforts," Zane added. "But it's the first day, what will happen next time?"

"Only time will tell," Ash said as the tournament has just begun.
