Gundam Wings, The Story Of a New Beginning
Chapter 9: A Promise (Edited)
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! I'm gonna die here!"
I was practically screaming my head off at this moment. My wings have forced themselves out of my back, and every weapon component came online. I realized this and tried to calm down.
"Ohm...ohm...ohm...", I just began saying out of nowhere.
"Why is he saying that?", I heard Applejack through my closed eyes.
"Shhhh...he's trying to calm himself down.", I heard Celestia.
"Ohm...ohm.............ohm..."
I felt my wings retract into my back as I slowly collapsed to my knees.
"Ben, you know that the salad is specially made to accommodate the missing nutrients from your normal diet.", Celestia said warmly.
"That...That doesn't matter. You can't replace well...you know what. I practically lived for it."
"I'm really sorry Ben, but I just can't do that."
"Okay..okay..."
I sat back down. I looked around and saw everyone staring at me wide-eyed.
"Oh god, I'm sorry."
"Ben...why did you act like that?"
I turned and saw Rainbow Dash looking very pissed off at my former display of meat rage. I just looked down at myself ashamed and looked back up.
"Every...uh...was it everypony? Something like that. Anyways, i'm really sorry for what i just acted out. I hope that you all don't think think I'm an animal now."
Everypony had recovered and Flutershy began speaking to me in a barely audible tone.
"It's okay. We know that you don't act like that normally. Rainbow Dash said that you wouldn't hurt anypony."
"Thank you Flutershy. And once again, I'm really sorry."
Rainbow Dash was getting really bored from all of this apologizing.
"Look everypony, our food is sitting right there, yet we haven't started to eat yet?! Can we please dig in already? I'm starving!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Alright, fine, lets eat."
I saw Twilight, Celestia, and Rarity pick up their forks with magic and the others seemed to just take yet, another impossible grip of their forks. I was completely baffled by this. They have no fingers. So how in the name of hell can they actually grip objects like that? I decided not to think so hard about it and picked up my own fork. I stabbed a piece of lettuce, and I took a bite. i said something that you would never hear someone say normally.
"Wow, good lettuce."
Celestia smiled a tiny bit and replied.
"Thank you. It is grown in the Canterlot gardens."
In no time, I finished my salad, and surprisingly, I was full.
"So, your saying that I get all of my nutrients from this?"
"Yes, Ben. Is that what I said?"
"Yes."
Celestia nodded, and I nodded back. Everypony had finished their meals and was no looking at me expecting me to start another random conversation. I just realized something that I could not wait to ask Celestia.
"Wait, I had no idea how I ended up in this world. Did you have to do something with this?"
Suddenly Celestia sank into her chair a bit and exchanged a bit of a nervous glance with me. The other 6 mares were quite interested in the subject and were staring at me.
"Celestia?"
"It..it was about your past."
I then tensed up. I clenched my fist under the table as I slowly spoke through my gritted teeth.
"Who...told you...about...my past?"
"No one told me Ben. I observed you."
I released my grip in my fist and calmed down a bit. But, I still remained very hostile.
"You spied on me?"
"No, I observed your world."
I saw a tear stream down Celestia's face as she continued.
"I never knew what terrible of a place anypony could live in..."
I was about to say something, but I shut my mouth.
"I-I'm sorry. We probably shouldn't be talking about this."
I began to grow more sorry then aggressive towards the Alicorn.
"Ben...are you crying?"
I looked at Rainbow Dash before feeling my face. Sure enough, there were tears streaming down it from the painful memories that had been implanted inside my brain. I sniffled a bit and tried to speak, but my mouth felt as if it were glued. I felt more tears coming down my face as I began to remember more and more.
"Ben...are you alright?"
I looked at the mare through my teared up eyes.
"I-I just remember a lot of things. Things we shouldn't talk about."
Rainbow Dash had a tear streaming down her face too. I looked at the other mares, and they were watching over me with very depressed faces.
"Rainbow Dash, it's okay.", I said as I gently wiped the tear from her eye. She looked even more sad as I did this.
"Ben, I think I want to go."
With a nod of approval from Celestia, me and Rainbow Dash exited the dining hall. The doors slowly closed as we walked down the hall. Rainbow Dash spoke no word as we walked towards our room. We rounded the corner and we got to our room. I closed the door, and Rainbow Dash flopped down on the bed.
"Rainbow Dash? Why were you crying back there?"
Rainbow Dash lurched forward.
"What? I don't cry!"
"Rainbow Dash..."
She began to look at with a very sad look in her eyes. She sniffled a bit as she slowly slunk back down. Rainbow Dash then spoke to me very lightly.
"I just don't know why you were so sad. I really care about you. I never thought I would see you sad. I-I-I..."
Rainbow Dash was now breaking into tears. I saw this and I sat down on the bed with her. I put my arm around her and she leaned into me, which made me blush a bit. She sniffled and turned her head towards me. I closed my eyes, and I hugged the mare gently. I began to rock her back and forth a bit and she buried her chest into me. She sniffled a bit and I just rested my head on her shoulder. She leaned away from me and her magenta eyes met my hazel eyes.
"Ben, do you really like me this way?", Rainbow Dash said with a huge blush on her face. She looked incredibly cute with her cheeks rosy-red.
"Of course Rainbow Dash. I love you."
Rainbow Dash then blushed a bit and smiled.
"So, I guess it's getting pretty late. You wanna turn in?", she said with a perfectly timed yawn.
"Actually, you want to watch another movie?"
Rainbow Dash then lit up with excitement.
"Sure! What are we going to watch?"
I pulled up my laptop, clicked the Netflix program, scrolled down the list, and I eventually came to rest on one movie.
"How about we watch Frank and Robot?"
"Huh?"
"Frank and Robot. It's about a man who gets a robot to care for him. He resents it at first, but he then goes on adventures with it."
"Well, that sounds cool. Sure!"
I hit the play button, let it load for a minute, and started it up.
The movie moved at quite a slow pace. It was rather more of a slice of life movie. Rainbow Dash seemed bored of it for quite a while, but she still remained interested for a few parts in the movie. Before we knew it, we got to the end, and I turned to Rainbow Dash. She was in tears when Frank had to erase the robot's memory and now it shows him in a new life without it. I had to admit that I felt a little sad on the inside. It was just unbelievable from what they went through together, and now, the robot was gone.
"Rainbow Dash? Are you okay?"
She sniffled a bit before replying.
"I just can't believe that the robot is gone now. I don't know what I would do if I lost one of my friends like that..."
"Rainbow Dash, when I realized that I was in another world, and when I was with you, I made a promise."
"You did? What was that?"
"I promised, no, vowed that I would do everything to protect you and every pony on Equestria from harm. I don't want to see anymore killing. Iv'e seen enough from where I was from."
"Ben..."
"Rainbow Dash, do you remember when I said I was a Marine?"
"Uh...yeah. I think?"
I began explaining the basics of what a Marine was, what they did, the life of one today, and what they fought for. I went on and on for quite a while, until I began to fell a bit groggy myself.
"Wow, you really went through all of that?"
"Yes Dashie, I did. And I am proud to be a Marine."
I didn't tell her about all the killing I did, the ambush that ended my life, or the other horrors of war.
"Ugh, it's getting pretty late."
"Oh, okay Ben, good night."
Rainbow kissed me on the cheek one more time as I closed my eyes and drifted off almost instantly. I caught the glance of her cheeks lighting up.
-------
Secretly, Rainbow Dash was beginning to enjoy his company, and enjoy spending time with him. But she remembered. Her duty to the princess must come first. She had to stay strong and not get attached to him. But with each passing hour or day, she began to question that herself.
Ah, yet another chapter cranked out with the song Primo Victoria cranked up dangerously loud, and my Rainbow Dash plush toy at my side. (Believe it or not, this is probably one of the ONLY Rainbow Dash plush toys that was accurate from MLP FiM. Yes, they got the color, the mane, the tail, and the eyes right. Also, sorry about the shortness of this one.
