Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Battle

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Battles were few in far between as Twilight’s force swallowed much of Storm King’s forces thanks to Tempest’s leadership skills. Of course as they arrived at another one of the Storm King’s camps they discovered there there was not a single Abyssinian there, instead there were thousands of Sombra’s cultists, Twilight grinned as she turned to Stature “Let’s have competition to see how many we can kill?”

Stature grinned “You’re on!”

Twilight shouted “Charge!” within a second Twilight jumped forward as Tempest, Crystal, Stature as well as Lionheart and Bladewing rushed forward mercenaries and Abyssinians behind them. Within a minute Twilight shouted as she stabbed a cultist “Thirty!”

Stature shouted back as he cleaved three cultist clean in half “Thirty Five!” The two then rushed forward striking at thousands of corpses piling up around them Twilight grinned “Two thousand!”

Stature pulled her over giving her a kiss before grinning “Two thousand and three!” the two then began to fight in tandem, Twilight jumped over him cutting through three cultists before, he held her hoof in his hand as they danced around the battlefield, she thrust a sword past his head stabbing a guy in the skull, they both jumped over a two black crystals as they killed the two cultists foolish enough to try taking them on.

Tempest blinked as she and Crystal were fighting “Those two really love each other don’t they?”

Crystal nodded as she ripped a stallion face off with her claws “Yep, they are a real duo.”

Tempest killed another few cultists “She enjoys this, I mean literally they have broken off again to get more kills.”

Twilight shouted “Five thousand!”

Stature shouted a minute later “Seven thousand, six hundred and nine!”

Twilight shouted back “Eight thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine!”

Lionheart and Bladewing shouted as they flew around tearing into the hoards of cultists “Woohoo!”

Twilight roared “Ten thousand!”

Stature boomed “Ten thousand and fifty!” The cultists were panicking as more and more of them just ended up being torn apart by ferocious forces engaging them.

Crystal meanwhile tore off one of the cultist’s face with her jaws, before disembowelling another “Take that you bastards.”

Tempest roared “Fear the might of my Storm!” Tempest horn glowed summoning a huge hurricane tore through over one thousand cultists.

Twilight grinned as the remaining cultists ran away “Fifteen thousand!”

Stature scowled “I only fourteen thousand nine hundred damn it!”

Tempest laughed “You two, I must you guys a lot of fun. The Storm King always was all about work, do this, do that. I don’t like this, I hate that. Build me a statue like me, no take it down it doesn’t capture my good side. I’m glad to be working with you, you are so friendly.”

Twilight grinned “Maybe to those on our side but to the enemy we are the bringers of death, we never falter and never surrender.”

Crystal flew over “We need to plan for our attack on the Storm King’s base.”

Tempest nodded “Yes, we do let’s head to the base and plan out our final assault.”

A couple of hours later, Twilight as she had stood around a table with Tempest, Stature, Crystal as well as the two griffons Lionheart and Bladewing. Tempest frowned “Alright so how do we do this, the Storm King’s base is large and vast, we will have to attack from multiple angles.”

Twilight frowned “I could just destroy the entire place with a simple spell.”

Tempest shook her head “I have studied war for years, he had quite a lot of resources we could use to make the changes to the kingdom.”

Twilight frowned “Fine so what’s the plan.”

Tempest frowned “We will have one small squad, let by Stature head into the castle to take the Storm King out quickly and effectively, he likely has a large army outside that will be able to match up to ours and we will need to hold them off, we will have three stalling forces one lead by Twilight, another led by me and the third led by Crystal.”

Lionheart and Bladewing complained “Why don’t we get to lead our own groups!” Everyone gave them a glance that basically said (You know why), the two griffons sighed as they sat down. The group were busy working out the details but one thing they didn’t know was that the next day would bring a great deal of pain and sorrow.
