Twilight woke up in the largest room that had been furnished, she pushed herself up off the green mattress onto the blue floor and frowned as she went into the bathroom to get herself ready to look through the list of jobs they had gathered.

After cleaning herself up she walked over to the nice wooden desk that her friends had brought in, she frowned as Capper walked over “What is it?”

Capper grinned nervously “Um I have a job for you, I just received word my sister is getting married in a few weeks in the capital of Panthera and I need an armed escort.”

Twilight frowned “I expect half of the payment up front, I can’t have this band taking on any job without sign there is payment beforehoof.”

Capper pulled a huge sack of gold and placed it on the table, Twilight smiled “I’ll take that as the full payment” she then shouted “Crystal, Stature our friend here is going to need an escort to Panthera, he has paid in full!”

Crystal frowned “Are you sure you’ll be alright with those two griffons?”

Twilight nodded “I’ll be fine, you two go with him.” Stature and Crystal saluted as they escorted Capper out of the building, Twilight turned to the Griffons “I wish to speak with you two.”

The two griffons approached her “What do what do you wish to speak to us about boss?”

Twilight smiled “Relax this is not business, I just want to know a bit more about you, you two are clearly younger than the others.”

One of them sighed “Yes you see we kind of were abandoned as eggs and spent much our younger years stealing food from others in this city.”

The other nodded “We were alone, no-one liked us so we learnt we could only rely on each other until one day.”

The first one smiled “It was amazing, you see we were being hounded by a bunch of people who we had stolen stuff from that day. It was when we ran into Stature, he defended us and even gave us a place to stay and provided enough food to eat, the reason he laughed at you was because he was honestly worried you were like us running head first into trouble without any idea of what you were up against.”

Twilight blinked “Really, I thought he was just mocking me?”

The second sighed “He doesn’t even realise it himself, it’s why he felt bad because he thought he was mocking you. Don’t tell him we told you or else he will get mad.”

Twilight smiled “I won’t tell anyone, we want to keep his tough guy persona a secret.”

Crystal and Stature accompanied Capper through a forest that between Klugetown and Panthera, Crystal yawned as she walked beside Stature “So how was your date with Twilight?”

Stature smiled “It was good to see her relax, I assume you’ve heard of Princess Celestia?”

Crystal nodded “Yes who hasn’t heard of the goddess of the sun and it turn outs that Princess Celestia was using my son’s egg as a test for unicorns, Twilight hatched it.”

Stature blinked “So that egg she hatched was yours?”

Crystal frowned “Yes.”

Stature sighed “It turns out Princess Celestia was Twilight’s former Mentor and when someone she knew was impersonated by a changeling everyone she knew turned on her.”

Capper blinked “Wait a moment what” he pointed at Stature “so you’re dating her” he then turned to Crystal “she hatched your egg” he then blinked “and she’s Princess Celestia’s Pupil” he collapsed to the ground.

Stature frowned as he chucked over his shoulder, he then frowned “You guys are doing a crappy job of hiding by the way.”

A group of ten unicorns wearing pitch black robes, the one at the front grinned as his eyes glowed green purple trails flowing out of them“It matters little, we were sent here to keep you away from your base while the remain forces capture your precious leader and twist her to serve our Dark Lord…”

He was interrupted by Stature who rushed forward slamming his axe into his head. The other nine prepared to launch dark crystals only for Crystal to tear the closest three to pieces with her claws. Before the others could react Stature leapt over Crystal grabbing two of them and smashing theirs heads together, Crystal and Stature turned to the remaining two before both swung at them, Stature with his axe and Crystal with her claws tearing them apart.

Stature scowled “We need to go back!”

Crystal slapped him “Trust in those two griffons, they can protect her.” she then pointed at Capper “Come on we have to get him back to his home.”

He scowled “If something happens to Twilight I will kill you!”

Twilight was talking to the two Griffons when they heard an commotion outside, Twilight poked her her head out to see one thousand armed cultists outside. Twilight groaned “You two get over here?”

The two Griffons fly over and blink “Wow that is a lot of enemies.”

Twilight sighed “Could you take them?” The two Griffons shook their head, Twilight sighed as she looked at them “Right” she then turned to the cultists “What do you want?”

The head cultist growled “We want you so you can serve our master, King Sombra!”

Twilight sighed as she levitated her sword over to her hoof and pulled her bandages off revealing a huge red scar across her chest “Right then let’s see how good you really are.” She leapt off the second floor slamming into the ground “Give me your best shot!”

Twilight growled as huge pillars of dark crystal rushed towards her, Twilight shrugged as she began to swing her sword so fast that as she ran forward the huge dark crystal were torn apart , she then stabbed her sword into one cultists head before chopping off the head of another. She then kicked a dark crystal shard into one’s head, the cultists then all pulled out dark swords and rushed at her, she parried one before grabbing their arm and shoving their sword into another’s chest.

She then then the cultist onto another’s sword before cutting three in front of her in half. The two Griffons watched in shock and awe as blood flew all over the place as corpses piled up, they blinked as Twilight’s flanks began to glow with light. Twilight stood on the one thousand bodies, the griffons flew over “That was awesome!” they then looked at her flanks

Twilight frowned “Hey what are doing looking at my flanks?”

They raised an eyebrow “Because the mark on your flanks has changed.”

Twilight looked down only to see a bloody blade in front of a purple star, she grimaced “That’s just fantastic, urghh” the two griffons followed their leader into the base unaware of drastic changes that would take place over the next few weeks.
