On the night of the Fall Formal, at a fast food joint...

Three majestic voices were singing while literally, everyone else in the restaurant started screaming at each other.

They didn't realize it, but they emitted a green energy that went to the necklaces of the three...

Magical gems absorbed the energy.

The three were hooded, and they unveiled themselves...

Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze...

They're not from around here.

"Ugh. That was barely worth the effort, Adagio. I'm tired of fast food. I need a meal." Aria complained.

"The energy in this world isn't the same as in Equestria. We can only gain so much power here." Adagio said.

"Ugh! I wish we'd never been banished to this awful place!" Aria yelled.

"Really? I love it here!" Adagio said sarcastically.

"For realsies? Because I think this place is the worst." Sonata said.

Then, the three noticed Sunset Shimmer's transformation unfold from afar...

Adagio rushed out the doors to see this.

The others took their time...

Then, she saw a blue blast pushing a fireball back into space.

Then she saw all sorts of crazy yellow and blue blasts fly everywhere.

Then, finally, she saw the magic of friendship being used...

Wow, you could actually see all this happening from like five miles away.

Yeah, see-

Adagio's red gem allowed her to sense magic...

And that's exactly where it is!

"Did you feel that?" She asked, still in awe.

Then she smirked.

"Do you know what that is?" She asked the others.

...

"Eh." Sonata said.

Adagio grabbed Aria by the shirt...

"It's Equestrian magic!" She said.

Aria took her hands away.

"But this world doesn't have Equestrian magic." She said.

"It does now. And we're going to use it to make everyone in this pathetic little world adore us!" Adagio said.

Yeah...

Now the others get what she's talking about...

Wow, another day at school!

Well, this is more like a workshop than a school day.

The students gathered in the gym to create various posters...

Well, our three little Crusaders were painting, and someone took another paintbrush...

It was Sunset Shimmer, but...

Nicer, she thought.

"Want some help?" She asked.

"Uh, no thanks. We're good." Applebloom said.

Yeah, they wanted her to go.

"Oh... Okay." Sunset said, giving the paintbrush back...

"Sunset Shimmer!"

Pinkie yelled out...

"Over here!" She yelled, waving her hand.

On the other side of the gym.

The whole gang is there!

Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie, Rarity, Fluttershy and Gohan!

Gohan was waving with a yellow ki blast so that she could see where to go, even though she isn't blind.

Sunset was glad that her friends were there for her...

But since all eyes were now on her...

Man, everyone was just lookin' at her with contempt and anger.

She walked towards her friends, noticing that everyone was talking about her...

They're mainly confused as to why Gohan's willing to hang out with her.

Even the others who beat her.

Sunset sighed as she got to her group, and Gohan turned the ki off.

"I had no idea the whole school would be here." She said.

Fluttershy put a hand on her shoulder as reassurance...

"Yeah, it's a workshop and there's no classes. I expected there to be less people." Gohan said.

Pinkie Pie and Rarity lifted up their poster to show to Sunset...

It had a purple guitar in the middle, a piano in the top right, drums in the bottom left, musical notes and a blue background.

"Quite the eye-catching advertisement, if I do say so myself." Rarity said.

"And it smells like cake!" Pinkie said.

"It does?" Fluttershy asked, trying to sniff the poster.

Pinkie rammed it into her face, and then took it away.

It left some purple frosting and sprinkles on her nose.

"I used frosting instead of paste!" Pinkie said.

"Pinkie, that's ludicrous." Gohan said.

"It has milk in there, I checked the ingredients. It's going to go bad really fast." He said.

"You're a perceptive one." Rarity said.

"Can you blame me?" Gohan asked, smiling.

"Uh, Fluttershy, you've got a little somethin', uh..." Applejack said, pointing at her face.

Fluttershy wiped off a few sprinkles.

"Did I get it?" She asked.

Gohan came to the rescue with a napkin, and wiped it all off.

"I got it." He said.

Then, Celestia and Luna came into the gym...

"Good afternoon, students. I just wanted to tell you all how pleased I am that so many of you are going to participate in the first ever Canterlot High School Musical Showcase!" Celestia said.

The entire gym cheered.

Yays and stuff.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to raise money for all our after-school programs here at CHS. So keep working on those signs and posters. I think it's going to be one of the most exciting events we've had at CHS since the Fall Formal." Celestia said.

Oh, shit.

Nobody is clapping now, now the entire gym looked to Sunset Shimmer as if she's the devil.

Sunset tried to hide her face in shame...

Aw... Poor girl.

Gohan just felt bad, nobody knows her true values now.

In the music room...

While Gohan wasn't really a pianist, he sat at the grand piano...

Rainbow Dash leaned on it with her guitar, Sunset sat on it, Pinkie sat at the drums, Applejack stood with her guitar, Fluttershy stood with her tambourine and Rarity stood at an electric piano.

"Ugh! I am never gonna live that down." Sunset complained.

"I already forgot about it." Gohan said.

"You were pretty bad at the Fall Formal." Fluttershy said.

"A demon. I turned into a raging she-demon." Sunset said.

"You weren't the worst." Gohan said.

"She tried to turn everyone here into teenage zombies for her own personal army!" Pinkie said.

...Then she realized how she poured salt into the wound.

"...It's not as bad as total conquest over the entire universe... Or actually blowing up someone you love... Or a heart virus." Gohan said.

"Kinda odd to bring that last one up..." Sunset said.

...Daddy died to a heart virus, shut up.

"Oh... Yeah." Gohan said, looking somewhat down.

"...Right. Sunset, darling, you have us, and we've forgiven you for your past... ahem... booboos." Rarity said.

"To be honest, I'd say the whole experience brought everyone at Canterlot High closer than ever before!" Applejack said.

Then, it seemed like they were gonna play a tune.

Then, they started playing.

"We just got our pony parts for being awesome!" Rainbow Dash said.

"You also had major power boosts... Much like when Twilight was here." Gohan said.

"Ooh! I've got to look into some new accessories! Something that looks good in a longer ponytail. Ooh! Maybe some clip-on earrings for when I get those adorable pony ears." Rarity said, ecstatic.

"I just wonder why it happens. Princess Twilight took her crown back to Equestria. Shouldn't that mean she took all the magic back with her?" Applejack asked.

"No, that's not how it works, Applejack." Gohan said.

"That portal's been connected to this world for a while, I'd guess. Magic could pour into this world from the other. And, the crown left some magic here as well, especially since-" He said, before biting his tongue.

He looked to Sunset for approval, and...

"Go ahead..." She said.

"...Sunset used a ton of it here. It's just like how I leave deposits of my energy whenever I throw a blast." Gohan said.

"Who cares why it happens? It makes my band totally awesome!" Rainbow Dash said.

"Oh? Your band?" Rarity asked.

"Duh! It was my idea to start the Rainbooms so we could be in the showcase. Plus I'm the lead singer and guitarist." Rainbow Dash said.

"Well, try to treat your team as equals. Be a leader." Gohan said.

Then, a knocking came at the door.

Flash came into the room...

"Uh, heard you outside. You guys are sounding really tight." He said.

"Uh, we're getting there. Rarity's still coming in a little late on the second verse, and Applejack's bass solo could use a little work. They'll get it together in time for the showcase." Rainbow Dash said.

Well, that didn't sit well with them.

Gohan silently face palmed...

'Did you ignore what I just said...?' He thought

"Uh, I don't suppose any of our friends from, uh... out of town might come? Uh, it being a special charity event and all." Flash said nervously.

"Sorry, Flash. I don't think Twilight's gonna be back at Canterlot High any time soon." Applejack said.

"Actually, she might." Gohan said.

"The portal opens and closes every 30 days, she has to visit us then. It's been about three and a half weeks, it's getting there. Not in time for the Musical Showcase, though." He said.

Flash laughed a bit nervously...

"Oh, yeah. Okay. I just, you know, thought I'd ask..." He said.

"She'll visit eventually, I'm sure of it." Gohan said.

"Okay... Uh, k-keep on rockin' it." Flash said, walking backwards.

...Right into a wall.

Then he blushed and ran off.

"Well! Someone is quite the smitten kitten." Rarity said.

"Really?" Gohan asked.

Everyone just stared at him like he was a moron.

"...What?" He asked.

...Then Rarity realized that...

"Oh. Sorry. I always forget you and Flash used to be an item." She said to Sunset.

"It's okay. Flash is a great guy and all, but I never really liked-him liked him. I was just using him to become more popular." Sunset said.

Then she realized...

"Ugh! The old me really was just awful, wasn't she?" She asked.

Yeah, everyone was agreeing with her there...

But...

"Eh. Awful when it came to morals, not damage." Gohan said.

"I wrecked their friendship. I was going to kill you and them." Sunset said.

"So many people have attempted to murder me at this point. It's nothing. I've fought someone who destroyed planets for fun. And those damn Androids that murdered so many." Gohan said.

"...You have some serious pent up aggression against them, don't you...?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Are you kidding? They killed so many people!" Gohan said.

"I'm glad they're dead." He said.

"Did you kill them?" Sunset asked in shock.

"Someone had to." Gohan said.

...

"...But the important thing is that you've turned yourself around." Applejack said to Sunset.

"Thanks, Applejack, but I'm not sure everyone else at CHS feels the same way." Sunset said.

"They'll come around to it." Gohan said.

Then Luna came on the P.A....

"Sunset Shimmer, please report to the main foyer." She said.

"Gotta run. I volunteered to show some new students around the school. Thought it'd be good for them to get to know the new me before they heard all the stuff about the old me." Sunset said, running out the door.

Gohan decided to play a note on the piano for fun...

"You don't play an instrument, right?" Rarity asked.

"No, but... The piano is so intriguing..." Gohan said.

"Pianoforte... 88 keys... 36 musical scales... and I can't play." He said.

"Man, you were not kidding when you said you were a nerd." Rainbow Dash said.

"I can't play a song to save my life, heh." Gohan said.

He was about to play a few notes from Canon for practice, but...

"We've still got a few minutes before lunch starts. What do you say we do 'Awesome As I Wanna Be?'" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Um, Rainbow Dash? I was wondering if we could maybe play the song I wrote?" Fluttershy asked, holding her pink notebook...

"We'll get to it." Rainbow Dash said, completely ignoring it.

"Oh... Okay." Fluttershy said.

"...Can I see it?" Gohan asked.

"Sure!" Fluttershy said, handing the notebook over to him.

Then Rainbow Dash started playing...

Sunset went to the entrance to find three girls there...

"Hi. Are you the girls I'm supposed to show around?" She asked.

It was the Dazzlings...

"We are." Adagio said with a smirk.

"Canterlot High is a great school. You're really gonna love it." Sunset said.

"Oh, yes, we really sense there's something... magical about this place." Adagio said.

Sunset walked them around, and showed them the school.

"That's the science lab. Computer lab is in there." She said.

Then they came across the poster for the Musical Showcase.

"Oh! We're having a big musical showcase this weekend! The whole school is pretty much rallying around it." She said.

That gave them an idea.

"A musical showcase?" Adagio asked.

"I'm sure since you're new, Principal Celestia would let you sign up if you're interested." Sunset said.

"We've been known to sing from time to time." Aria said.

"Hello? We sing, like, all the time! It's how we get people to do what we want." Sonata said, completely blowing their cover...

Adagio wanted her to shut up!

She gestured for her to be quiet.

"Wha-What did I say?" Sonata asked, still oblivious.

"What you meant to say was that being in a musical showcase sounds like a great way to meet other students." Adagio said.

"Ohhhh, yeah. Th-What she said I meant to say. That's what I meant. To say." Sonata said.

Nice save.

Aria scoffed.

"And what you would have said if you weren't the worst." She said.

"You are!" Sonata said.

"You'll have to excuse them. They're idiots." Adagio said.

...Sunset was just... blown away.

Well, she saw their necklaces...

"Those are pretty..." Sunset said, reaching for Adagio's.

"Sorry. These pendants mean an awful lot to us. We'd just hate for anything to happen to them." Adagio said.

Then those three just walked off.

Sunset was on to them...

Lunchtime!

Sunset wasn't there yet, but the others were eating.

"Rainbow, you have to play Fluttershy's song." Gohan said, holding a box of rice and chopsticks.

"Yeah, yeah, we'll get to it." Rainbow Dash said.

"I mean as soon as possible. It's a great song!" Gohan said.

"T-Thank you..." Fluttershy said, blushing a tad.

...Then he started chowing down like a cow.

Sunset finally came and sat down.

"So how was the tour?" Applejack asked.

Gohan stopped eating to listen.

"I don't know. I mean, these girls, they were... There was something off about them." Sunset said.

"Like, off like this?" Pinkie asked, giving herself a beard with her hair.

"Or, off like this?" She asked, giving herself carrot fangs and lettuce for eyebrows...

"Or- Ooh! Ooh, like-" Pinkie said, before-

"Maybe we should just let her tell us." Rainbow Dash said.

...One of the carrots fell out.

"That's just it. I can't put my finger on it. They just acted sort of... strange around me. Maybe someone already talked to them. Told them about what I did." Sunset said.

"So much for making a good first impression." She said.

Gohan... felt an odd disturbance.

Three unusually high power levels...

Right outside the cafeteria?

He looked away...

"Is something wrong?" Rarity asked.

"...Something's off." Gohan said.

"What is?" Fluttershy asked.

"I don't know. I'm getting a strange read on three people." Gohan said.

"Three people?" Sunset asked.

"It could be nothing, but... It's not good energy." Gohan said.

'...That could be related...' Sunset thought.

Okay, right outside the cafeteria doors...

The Dazzlings were there.

"This is it, girls. The moment we've been waiting for." Adagio said.

"Lunch!?" Sonata asked excitedly.

Adagio groaned...

"The chance to get our true Equestrian magic back." She said.

"Oh. Right." Sonata said.

"Our voices are just strong enough to make them want something so badly, they'll fight to get it." Adagio said, looking into the cafeteria.

"So we're just gonna do what we always do? Stir up some trouble and then feed off the negative energy? Some plan, Adagio." Aria said sarcastically.

"It won't be the same as the times before! There is Equestrian magic here. Their negative energy will give us the power we need to get this entire world to do our bidding." Adagio said.

...

"...But we can get lunch after though, right? It's Taco Tuesday!" Sonata said, adoring the poster for Taco Tuesday.

"Just follow my lead!" Adagio yelled.

Adagio grabbed Aria by the vest.

They burst through the doors!

Adagio sang as Aria and Sonata kept with the "Ah"s.

Now, she started touching people's hairs and stuff.

"Why pretend we're all the same?

When some of us shine brighter?"

"Shine brighter?" Aria and Sonata sang as a chorus.

Are you a loser or a fighter?" Adagio sang.

She certainly got some people thinking...

Now all three of them sang.

They all gave thumbs downs on top of seats...

They got some people actually raging...

"Yeah, you rise above the rest!" Adagio sang, with Aria and Sonata lifting her up to the table.

She walked down it...

"It doesn't matter who you hurt..." Adagio sang, flicking someone to make him swallow his food.

They're really getting people fired up.

Then all three of them sang...

Aria and Sonata were pointing at people.

People are fighting each other now!

While also getting increasingly furious with each other for no reason.

Gohan was very sure about this- They're bad news.

He could even see the green energy being given to the Dazzlings...

Making them even stronger, but not enough to cause any threat.

He literally held some in his palm...

'...This isn't good.' He thought.

"Oh! They're that kind of off!" Pinkie said.

Walking in the hallway...

The seven were heading towards Celestia's office.

"Those three are definitely in possession of some kind of dark magic. How else could you explain what happened back there?" Sunset asked.

"It's terrible. They're growing stronger the more everyone fights." Gohan said.

"You know that?" Sunset asked.

"There's strange energy deposits coming out of people whenever they argue. Or magic deposits... It goes straight to those girls, and they have an unusually high power level. This could be seriously detrimental." Gohan said.

"Don't worry, y'all. We'll let Principal Celestia know all about this and those girls will be kicked to the curb in no time. Last thing she needs is another CHS event almost ruined by some power-crazed lunatic." Applejack said.

Then she realized...

"Er, no offense." She said.

"None taken." Sunset said.

"I'm not sure she'll be willing to do anything..." Gohan said, knowing the outcome already.

They're right outside her door, and...

He just knew that she was possessed in some way, like everyone else.

Their energies are off.

In the office...

Celestia sat as Luna stood.

"Dark magic? I find that very hard to believe." Celestia said.

"I'm right here." Gohan said.

"Those girls came into my office earlier and were absolutely delightful." Celestia said.

Gohan already knew it...

"Ugh! Perhaps Sunset Shimmer is just eager to make someone else out to be a bad element, so that her actions at the Fall Formal will become old news." Luna deduced...

"Or, maybe you're just wrong." Gohan said.

"What was that?" Luna asked.

"There's no sane reason for Sunset to do that now. Those girls are bad news. If they can divide the school up so much to the point that they're ready to tear out each others' throats, then you know there's something wrong here." Gohan said.

"You have to believe us. But... You wouldn't." He said.

"Why not?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Hmph. Isn't your band supposed to be part of the Musical Showcase?" Celestia asked Rainbow Dash.

"Well... Yes." Rainbow Dash said.

"Perhaps you're all just worried that the Dazzlings will steal your spotlight." Luna said.

"The Dazzlings?" Applejack asked.

"It's the name of their musical group. That's why they came by my office earlier; to sign up for the Showcase. Even sang a little song to Vice Principal Luna and I." Celestia said.

"They did?" Applejack asked.

"Yes. And we think having a Battle of the Bands instead is a marvelous idea." Celestia said.

Those two had a green glow to their eyes...

Possessed!

"That's totally irresponsible of you two." Gohan said.

"Excuse you?" Luna asked.

"The students are violent. They're arguing right outside this door. The hope for a competition is what's driving them mad. If you do let them play it out, someone will get hurt." Gohan said.

"I think you should be quiet. Unless you're willing to serve a week's worth of detention." Celestia said.

Gohan stopped...

Not because of the detention.

School ended, and the group is right outside, next to the Wondercolts Statue.

Sunset leaned against it, Pinkie laid down on it, Rarity sat against it to do her fingernails, Fluttershy was interesting with a ladybug on it, Applejack stood away from it to think, Rainbow Dash was practicing juggling a soccer ball and Gohan just crossed his arms while standing.

"I can't believe they got to Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna too." Fluttershy said.

"It's not hard... I mean, all they had to do was burst in and sing. That's how they got to everyone else here." Gohan said.

"Why'd you stop? You had some good points." Sunset said to Gohan.

"Even if I kept pointing out the logical fallacies, they wouldn't take it. Plus, my mother would be very angry with me if I got detention..." Gohan said.

"...I think I might have to take matters into my own hands." He said, clenching a fist.

"Oh, don't hurt them..." Fluttershy said.

"Fluttershy." Rainbow Dash said.

"What?" Fluttershy asked.

"They're definitely up to something. Honestly, we should stop them while we can." Gohan said.

"Won't that get you in trouble?" Rarity asked.

"That's my concern. I can't say for sure that the spell will just be lifted like that. People will probably still riot for no reason." Gohan said.

"Do you know?" He asked Sunset.

"Sorry, but no. It could go either way." Sunset said.

"They got everyone under that strange spell." Rainbow Dash said.

"Not everybody!" Pinkie said.

"Pinkie Pie's right. We were there when the Dazzlings were singin' and we weren't affected. It was like we were protected somehow." Applejack said.

"It's possible that the magic of friendship protected you in there." Gohan said.

"What about you?" Sunset asked.

"Their power levels are unusually high, but nothing to fret about. As I am now would be overkill." Gohan said.

"Let's take them down!" Rainbow Dash said.

"It's not like we haven't tangled with dark magic before and totally whooped its sorry butt!" She said.

...Sunset is right there.

"Uh, no offense." She said.

"None taken... Again." Sunset said.

"But that was when Twilight was here." Fluttershy said.

"There may be some kind of magic inside us, but it only comes out when we play music. I sure don't know how to use it to... whoop anybody's butt." She said, letting a ladybug fly away.

"...He's right there." Applejack said.

Rarity sighed.

"If only we could get a message to Twilight. Maybe she could tell us how to break the spell the Dazzlings have cast on our friends." She said, still applying nail polish...

"Well, that's not gonna happen. The portal's closed." Rainbow Dash said, hurling the soccer ball above Rarity.

It bounced back to Rainbow Dash, but Rarity reacted a bit too jerkily and spilled the polish all over her arm.

Then she gasped ever so loudly.

"And I get the feeling they don't exactly have cell phones where she's from." Rainbow Dash said.

Sunset had an epiphany...

"I may have an idea how we can get in touch with Princess Twilight!" She said excitedly.
