Chapter 5: Duct tape is bad for fixing clothes.

Mason looked to the carousel-like building in front of them, mentaly screaming just from having to look at it. It was meant to be ascetically pleasing, and it likely was to the ponies. Though Mason had to question the mannequins on the outside, that to him looked like a large number of impaled ponies. He couldn't bring himself to like it; it was far too different from the typical reinforced military buildings he had spent most of his adult life inside.

He walked into the building, suit material in hand, feeling his testosterone screaming in pain from all of the frilly dresses that filled the shop. He continued to follow the group of mares into the back room. The room was simple; it had sewing machines scattered around tons of fabric on shelves and many other tools he had no clue what to call. As well as a raised platform presumably for taking measurements.

"Over here, darling for your measurements." Rarity said, motioning to the platform.

"KD has the measurements," Mason replied, placing the material onto a nearby table.

"I am aware of this, but I would like to make you some more comfortable clothes, and those need to be looser. On top of that, updating your measurements couldn't hurt."

Mason nodded and stepped onto the surface. It only goes up to about his knee. Rarity looked up at him for a moment before floating up a small step stool.

"I know you probably don't want to, but would you mind taking off your armor and such. It would help greatly with getting correct measurements."

Mason let out a sigh before hopping down to rest on one of the too-small chairs. He took off the armored plates that he had strapped to various places on his body. He then stood up and reached back towards his booster pack. Pressing a small button, the small thrusters deactivated, losing their glows and folding in slightly. Undoing the harness around his waist, he pulled the device and its harness off of him. Setting it down with a thud, he removed his helmet with a small hiss as the partial seal broke.

Looking over to Rarity, she nodded and motioned for him to step back onto the platform. Mason made his way over to the platform and quickly mounted it. He wanted to get this over with as soon as possible; he waited as rarity asked him to shift multiple times as she took detailed measurements of his body. Eventually, the white mare nodded.

"Ok, dear, I have your measurements. Now onto fixing that uniform of yours." Rarity stated.

"Sounds cool," Mason replied, hopping off of the platform.

"You will, however, need to take off that uniform for me to fix it." Rarity spoke.

"What do you suggest I wear while you do so?" Mason said, evidently not liking the prospect of standing around in a crowded room nude.

"There are privacy screens in here, so I suppose you could stand behind one of those." Rarity muttered contemplatively.

Mason shrugged then turned towards the rest of the room, looking for one of the previously mentioned privacy curtains. Locating one of them, he made his way behind it. The curtain only went about halfway up his chest, but it was sufficient. Ignoring that, he began the wonderful, wonderful process of removing the tape from his back. This was understandably awkward and probably hilarious to watch.

Finally, he removed all of the tape and wriggled out of his uniform. Laying the uniform over the top of the curtain he stretched a bit as the uniform was rather tight. Rarity quickly took the uniform to one of the many tables and began to do whatever she does.

"Um darling, how are you meant to get into this thing? There doesn't appear to be any way to get it on." Rarity asked, confused.

"Ah, yea that might be an issue. Normally on the ship, we have a machine that puts them on. As the ships don't have showers. So we don't need to remove them. The machine simply sows it onto us. The only real reason I've been able to take it off while I've been here is because of that tear," Mason explained, " So put the heaviest duty zipper you have I suppose. Er, Please?"

"Yes, I suppose that should work. It'll take a bit longer so wait a moment." Rarity replied.

"Alrighty then, I can wait as long as needed. Thanks for doing this by the way. I'll try to repay you." Mason stated.

After about 15 minutes of waiting it was done. Rarity levitated the uniform off of the table she was working on.

"Well there you go dear, that should hold up. " She said laying the uniform over the privacy screen.

Mason took the uniform and began the process of squeezing into the thing. After thirty seconds he managed to get into and zip up the skin-tight uniform.

"Thank you Rarity, it fits like a charm. I'll try to repay you for this generosity." Mason said stepping out from behind the screen and stretching.

"There is no need dear. It's simply what I do." Rarity said shaking her head.

"No, I can't let stuff like this go unpaid. Once I get a stable source of income I'm repaying you rather you want me to or not. " Mason said firmly.

"Well if y'all ever need yerself some work the farms got no shortage of that." Applejack cut in.

"I'll look into that. Thank you." Mason simply stated.

"Well if that's all," Twilight interjected, "We should get going back to my library, it's getting late. Oh, that reminds me! Mason, you can stay with me if you would like."

"Sounds koolio." Mason said only somewhat ironically throwing up some finger guns.

Mason walked over to his armor and began to place it back on himself.

"That isn't really necessary," Twilight said, "Nothing is going to attack you here."

"It's a habit, plus as I've said before better safe than sorry." Mason placed on his jumpkit.

"Alright then, Let's get going," Twilight said beginning to leave.

Mason shrugged and began to follow. As he exited the building he thought to himself 'Oh I got a FEELING, this worlds gonna be one hell of a fun time.'

Author's Note

His under armor suit thing is sort of like a wetsuit but more heavy-duty and bullet resistant.

I'm BACK BABY!!! I know I was gone for a while but I was busy dealing with severe depression and anxiety. But I'm back now and on medications. I will try to write more often but no promises. I hope none of you minded the wait too terribly, and I'm EXTREMELY sorry about my being gone.

Sincerely,
