Christmas short - A very Crimson Christmas

Authors note

Hello everypony!  It's almost Christmas!

And in that vein,  I decided to do a short Christmas story,  to give you an insight into the character a little more.  But mostly just because I felt like it and Christmas is awesome.

The insight I previously mentioned is that,  whilst the main character of The Crimson Dawn,  Crimsonlight,  can be selfish,  arrogant,  big headed and smug,  he has a more giving side.

This story is set long before The Crimson Dawn,  so no worries about interference,  it's just about another of Crimson's missions.

This was just done for fun,  for the holidays.  So please,  enjoy!

Also,  I am in the process of making chapter 2.  But as of now,  enjoy this!

Hearth warming time,  full of warmth and cheer.

Ponies rejoiced,  as they did through the year.

But this was more special,  for families and friends.

Gifts were given and accepted,  to hearth warming's end.

Not all of Equestria were on humble form.

A certain white unicorn,  remained battle worn.

Not caring for presents,  friends or comrades.

Single minded to goals,  and set on his tasks.

When Celestia called,  on one Crimsonlight.

He was excited to hear of a dragon to fight!

A snow dragon rioting,  near Ponyville she did speak.

You are the only on duty,  your help what I seek.

He accepted with gusto,  haste and on whim.

Celestia had no time to tell the problem to him.

He bolted out the door,  towards his destination.

And left for Ponyville,  no wait or calculation.

He hopped aboard carriage,  no ponies on duty.

Nopony to pull it,  he levitated astutely.

Carrying the carriage,  alone through the air.

On magical prowess,  and brave,  daring dare.

He rode through the day,  and rode through the night.

No ponies to pull it,  the carriage's speed was slight.

But he forged ahead,  propelling oneself.

A lone,  brave pony,  on sleigh ride,  by himself.

He arrived at Ponyville,  so quiet and humble.

He searched for a while,  seeking dragon's low rumble.

He almost gave up,  when a sight he did spy!

A snow dragon ahead,  with his own very eyes!

He covered himself,  in familiar lightning.

And bolted off with a crack,  anxious for some fighting.

Little did he know,  civilians did awaken.

They cantered out doors,  seeing things thought mistaken.

A lone,  single pony,  bolting fast towards danger?!

They were not battle hardened,  but they wanted to help a brave stranger.

They galloped in haze,  putting dirt under sole.

Ready to risk life and limb,  for ol' Crimson the foal.

Meanwhile,  our hero approached the danger reptilian.

The dragon snorted and shouted,  seeing a puny civilian.

"Stop,  scaly fiend,  for your time here is up."

Shouted the tiny white pony,  under dragon's gaze a mere pup.

The dragon did land,  with sickening speed.

He dashed quickly away,  fearing reduction to feed.

The dragon did not speak,  he exchanged but a glance.

And the battle was on,  each adopting a stance.

The dragon struck first,  firing cold frosty breath.

The valiant pony dodged,  for it may be his death.

He countered with lightning,  when much to his fear.

His horn had become frozen,  dragon grinning,  ear to ear.

He knew it would take a lot to free horn from it's freezing jail.

The dragon still gave no quarter,  attacking with tooth and nail.

He stored energy,  in the encasement of ice.

Failing to break,  once twice and thrice.

Townspony caught up,  seeing dark situation.

A pony dodging a dragon's murderous infatuation.

The adults stayed back,  knowing best how to act.

But fillies charged forward,  ignoring reason and fact.

Crimson fought on,  ignoring the brave,  giving town.

Who had rallied behind him,  trying to help him up when down.

He dodged and he dashed,  under dragon's great claw.

Thinking 'This problem?  Maybe I should have ignored.'

When his fears came true,  phobias to fruition.

He got struck dead on,  by a claw coalition.

Sent flying and reeling,  wincing in pain.

Bleeding from side,  almost crying in shame.

The dragon reared up,  to wale and cheer.

A most stupid foe,  had he finished the career.

Townspony threw caution to wind,  rallying to their current highness.

He was caught off guard,  fed strict diet of kindness.

Fillies snuggled to him,  warn them to leave,  he should.

No words escaped mouth,  only sobbing and blood.

"Leave now,  Lizard thing!"  Cried young filly blue.

Astounded my bravery,  the townsfolk had not knew.

"You've hurt him,  just look! Is it not easy to see?"

The filly did shout,  dragon covered in glee.

"I know that child.  Nopony challenges I!"

He replied,  gesturing to Crimson,  who looked ready to die.

"His idiocy costs you,  I have you in one swoop!"

The dragon reared up,  charging frost at the coop.

The townsfolk cowered back,  facing certain doom.

Crimson shakily stood,  charging a reply,  for the dragon that loomed.

The dragon stomped down,  firing frost at the lot.

As Crimson put hoof on the shoulder of tot.

"Don't worry,  young child,  for you're braver than I."

Came his sorrowful,  yet somehow determined reply.

His horn did now flutter and dance with red bolts.

He knew only he could bring dragon to halt.

He had been charging his magic as much as he could.

And he knew now he must unleash it,  for the onlookers he should.

They all closed their eyes,  huddled in their mass.

When a loud roaring crack did singe all the grass.

They opened to a new,  and warm welcomed sight.

The dragon,  so smug,  had gotten a fright.

Crimson unleashed,  breaking magical ice.

It had finally snapped,  long after once twice and thrice.

The elements met,  in the middle of battle.

The ensuing meeting,  caused bones to rattle.

The lightning did strike the frost wide apart.

Causing icy breath to cease in it's path,  nearly stopping some hearts.

The lightning soared onwards,  out a small pony's horn.

The dragon was humbled,  shocked,  and then torn.

The lightning continued on it's straightforward path.

Coursing right through the ice,  townsfolk cheered and then laughed.

Hitting dragon in mouth,  going to organs internal.

As this beast could attest,  this pain worse than external.

The dragon collapsed,  his insides now mangled.

Blood seeping from mouth,  his organs entangled.

Crimson collapsed on the ground,  no not dead,  he was tired.

As the Townspony gathered around the hero for hire.

So around this time this year,  please remember this tale.

That even harshest of ponies can be heroes and prevail.

As you gift to your loved ones,  throughout Hearth warming night.

Spare but a moment of thanking,  for ol' saint,  Crimsonlight.
