The title and certain themes were inspired by the song Filistata by Stolen Babies. The plot is loosely based on The Case of Charles Dexter Ward by H. P. Lovecraft.
This story was updated and improved on June 27, 2013 along with the addition of a bonus chapter. The changes are not massive, but there are a few new details and scenes.

Trixie is haunted by nightmares and begins to question if she let Twilight down in Dappleshore. When her dreams filter through to the waking world, Trixie scrambles for answers. How far will it take her, and can she face the mare in the mirror?
On a school trip to a quaint little town, Sweetie Belle becomes entangled in the past. She soon learns that some stories infect everything they touch, like a virulent plague, creating sad, twisted clones of themselves. And they never truly die.
