Pinkie Pie Chugs An Energy Drink
Chapter 1: Too Much Of A Good Thing
Load Full Story Next ChapterThe land of Equestria was bathed in light as Celestia raised the sun, its rays streaming through the window that looked into the window of Ponyville's famous party pony. Just as it did, their awful and noisy daily wake up call commenced.
MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP!
"Ugh..."
MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP!
"Five more minutes..."
MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP!
"Shut up..."
The annoying alarm clock continued its repetitive beeping, the pink mare groaning and covering their head with a pillow. "Stop it..." After a few more minutes of the blaring alarm clock, she finally sat right up and shoved it off of the nightstand in anger. It fell to the floor with a clunk, breaking in process. "Finally..." It landed in a pile of several identical alarm clocks, implying that it wasn't the first time this had happened.
Her fur was a paler shade than usual, and her hair was droopy and tangled. Dark rings surrounded her eyes, and her fur was matted. Yes, Pinkamena Diane Pie, the most energetic pony in town, was tired. Not just tired- PARTY POOPED. Just last night she had thrown a huge party in honor the Cakes' anniversary, and she swore she could still faintly hear all the previous night's commotion buzzing in her ears.
"That was some 'yawn' party, eh Gummy?"
The toothless reptilian just blankly stared at her in response before walking away. "Well, can't stay in bed all day. Time to get up and- 'yawn' face the day..." Her eyelids drooped, and she fell into a doze. She began to snore, and she woke with a start. "No! Pinkie, you stay awake!" She stretched, threw off her blanket, and got up from her bed.
Heaving another great yawn, she made her way down the stairs and into the Cakes' dining room. Mrs. Cake was frying eggs and bacon while Mr. Cake had his hooves full trying to feed the twins. The smell enticed Pinkie's nostrils, some drool dribbling down her chin. "Mmm..."
"Oh?" said Mrs. Cake, hearing Pinkie Pie's moan of hunger. "Good morning, dear."
"Morning Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Morning Pumpkin and Pound Cake."
"Hello Pinkie", said Mr. Cake as he clenched a spoon between his teeth. He put a spoonful of mashed peas in front of Pound Cake's mouth, only for her to laugh and smack the spoon out of his jaw. "Hey-" It landed on the high chair tray, and soon she was playing in the mess of Foal Food. "Sweet Celestia...", groaned Mr. Cake.
Pinkie took her seat, amused by the catastrophe of feeding the twin foals. "Thank you so much for the party last night, Pinkie" Mrs. Cake said as she flipped the food in the skillet, "the decorations, games and treats were just wonderful!"
"No 'yawn' problem ma'am!"
"Pinkie? Are you alright, dear?"
"Huh? Oh y-yeah I'm great! Never 'yawn' better!"
"Are you sure? You sound exhausted."
"Exhausted?! Are you kidding? I'm the most energetic pony in all of Eques- snore..." She had fallen asleep in middle of the word Equestria.
"That doesn't seem very energetic to me. GAH!" Pumpkin Cake had thrown a chunk of her breakfast, some of it getting jammed into her father's left nostril.
His shout woke the sleeping mare, and she fell out of the wicker chair. "IN ALL OF EQUESTRIA! Um... did I miss something?"
"You should go to back bed Pinkie", said Mrs. Cake as the food was finally finished. She made plates for herself, her husband and Pinkie Pie and brought them to the table. "B-but, who will help you run Sugarcube Corner?! Who'll go around town to hand out samples?! AND WHO WILL BABYSIT THE TWINS?!"
"Well Pinkie, in that case I suppose the least we can do is give you something to wake you up. How about some coffee?"
Pinkie wrinkled her nose. "Ew gross! No thanks."
"Well, then I'm afraid the only option we have left is one of the energy drinks in the fridge."
"Really? Wow I've never had one of those before! What do they taste like? Bitter? Sugary? A mixture of bitter and sugary? Spicy? Sweet? Sour? A whole different flavor that I've never had before?!"
"It's a bit... hard to explain. It's like fizzy pop, but different."
Mrs. Cake opened the fridge, and using her mouth she pulled out a cylindrical aluminum object, which just so happened to be a can of 'Lightning Juice', Equestria's most popular energy drink. Using her teeth, she cracked it open and set it down in front of the sleepy Pinkie Pie. "Here you go, dear."
"So this'll make me feel 'yawn' up-and-at-em again?" said Pinkie as she examined the can.
"Yes. But you might want to drink it one sip at a-"
Too late, Pinkie had grabbed the can with her front hooves, and downed its contents in one sitting. "...time", Mrs. Cake worriedly finished. "Hey I don't feel any different..." As soon as Pinkie said that, her already large eyes widened, and her pupils dilated. Her entire body began to vibrate, and her fur immediately returned its usual shade of hot pink. Her mane and tail puffed back up with a sound similar to a party horn, and with a whoop she sprang up into the air and landed on all fours- right on top of the table. Well, the beverage had definitely served its purpose, but perhaps they should have stuck with the coffee instead. That way, the effect might not have been as drastic. "WHEEEE!" Mr. and Mrs. Cake looked shocked, while the Cake twins just laughed and squealed. "Ifeelsomuchbetternowthankyoubye", Pinkie spat out before zooming out of Sugarcube Corner's front door, leaving a trail of fire behind. "Sweet Celestia what have I done...?", Mrs. Cake moaned with a facehoof.
And Miss Pinkie was off, wreaking havoc across the entire town. There was a hyperactive mare on the loose, and this was not good. Chaos was going to ensue- pink, party-esque chaos. And the Cake family was powerless to stop it.
