Sunrise ~Chapter 3~

It was the dead of night by the time i reached Canterlot, not that i paid it much mind.

As i approached the gates a pair of guards stood still, shocked into motionlessness. Not that I blamed them, but it cost them their lives. I sent two lashes of flame and they both fell screaming. As I walked into the courtyard a sentry yelled something from a tower and I saw guard funnel from doorways, soon about a hundred guards had me surrounded in a semicircle. Then one pony stepped out and towards me less heavily armoured whom I recognised as a captain, and said in a cocky tone

“give up whoever you are, maybe you’ll have quick death” for a second I smiled, I couldn’t help it. I simply replied in my booming voice

“Where. Is. Celestia.” The captain seemed a little put-off by my lack of concern, but quickly regained his composure and snapped

“seize him!” and two guards moved towards me. When they were about five feet away I made my move. Teal fire erupted from the ground beneath them with enough force to send them spiralling in the air. For a brief moment no one moved, and then the guards rushed me.

The fight was a blur of movement, fire, and screams. About a minute later I stood in the scorched courtyard, not a scratch on me. Every guard had been killed or maimed. I walked up to the captain who was bleeding profusely from where a blast of fire had torn half of his hind leg off.

“Where.” I boomed. He looked up at me and said

“your scum, I would never betray the princess”

“then die for her.” I said, and fire burnt the captain’s flesh from his bones.

As I approached the castle something strange happened, the sun rose. At 2 am.

Celestia walked through the door of the castle and straight towards me, a look of fury on her face. I stood my ground, hate written all over my face. She stopped in front of me and said through gritted teeth

“Why Nighters?”

“You know damn well!” I snapped

“killing me was one thing, but daisy was too far!” I boomed, my flames flaring up around me. Her anger lessened, if only slightly.

“Nighters I can’t make exceptions-”

“Bullshit!” I growled.

“Look I know you you’re angry, but I couldn’t have done anything. She chose to do it and she had to pay for her actions.” My flamed flickered and dulled a bit

“No! It’s your fault! It was all you… i…” my eyes welled, the fire lowering to a thin layer

“i can’t…” my irrational anger was fading, but I clutched at the strands and whispered

“but… my home”

“You misunderstand, I have never raised the sun for that part of Equestria. That town was started by ponies that hated the sun and never wanted to see it.” Celestia said

“But my father said-“ I whispered, the fire gone.

“He told you what he was told when he was a child” The princess said

“so it was all a lie?” I said weakly my head hung.

“Yes.” Celestia said pity in her voice.

Then the last of my will buckled, I collapsed and wept for what seemed like hours. During that time a black pegasi with an ash colored mane walked up beside the princess and said

“what should we do with him?”

“I’ll send him to the dungeon, watch over him. I need to return to my chambers” Celestia said.

“I will” The pegasi said.

There was a flash of light, and then I was on the floor of a small lightly furnished room. I just wept for a time, but soon fell into a deep sad sleep.
