Scootaloo’s Room, Ponyville Orphanage

Scootaloo laid on her bed, staring aimlessly upwards at the ceiling of her room. For the whole of her life, she had lived under the same roof.
Early in her life she had learned not to get to attached to any of the other orphans that passed through the Ponyville Orphanage. Others would come and go, adopted by loving families, the dilapidated wallpaper serving as the only constant in Scootaloo’s life.
“I have a special surprise for you,” said a voice from the door.

Looking over at the door she saw Pepper Glow, the manager of the orphanage. Sighing, Scootaloo got up from her bed and she shuffled over to the door. She followed the sky blue earth pony down the hall. Scootaloo didn’t mean to come across as ungrateful for whatever surprise that Pepper going to give her. It’s just that she felt sad that she would never receive a surprise from a parent.
Scootaloo and Pepper Glow made their way to the door that led to her administrative office. She had been there the previous week after she had bucked another one of the orphans after he labelled her “too pathetic to adopt” due to her inability to fly at the age of 15.
Pausing outside the room, Pepper Glow turned to Scootaloo. “What is your biggest wish?” asked Pepper Glow.
Scootaloo paused. “Was this a trick question?” she asked herself.
“Obviously I would like to have parents,” said the orange pegasus.
“Well consider your wish fulfilled,” said Pepper.
“You mean to tell me I’ve been adopted!” shouted Scootaloo, joy filling her little body.
“Your mother is waiting on the other side of the door.”
Before Pepper Glow had even finished her sentence, Scootaloo was running into the adjacent room.
“I wonder who my mother looks like,” she wondered.
When she swung open the door and saw who it was, her jaw dropped.
“Hey squirt, how you been,” asked Rainbow Dash, the instantly familiar voice filling Scootaloo with joy.
“You- You’re adopting me? Why?”
“Well I know you need a good home and I think that you’re both awesome and an amazing person.”
“ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou!” yelled Scootaloo as she embraced Rainbow Dash in a massive hug.
“Let’s go home Scoots.”
