The Killer That Sleeps Within
Chapter 3: Act 2: An Odd Turn of Events
Previous Chapter Next ChapterMyasnik, now standing in front of what looked to be an eight-foot tall mixture of a pegasus and a unicorn, just by both the wings and horn. And no mistaking that regalia, she was indeed the ruler here. He simply looked up and met her gaze with his, his hands hiding well behind the cloak that Fluttershy had given him. He slowly slipped his hand into his pocket, getting ready to grab his knife should he need it. Especially after what she had just asked him.
“It would seem so. Here I am, face to face with this land’s ruler. And me, an intruder not sure what is going to become of me. A lovely pegasus was gracious enough to come and save me last night from freezing over. But I am unsure if I should stick around with you.”
Celestia began to slowly approach the boy, her purple eyes still locked onto his. He doesn't move, he was feeling a bit intimidated by her sheer size, being of only five foot seven. But his recent training has taught him better than to reveal such things to potential enemies. When she was right in front of him, she leaned down to examine him, his features, his eyes, his hair. He back away a bit to give himself some space, still keeping his hand in his pocket.
“I am aware that you were staying with her, young one. The question is. Why are you even here to begin with? Someone like you has never ever been seen here. And the only explanation would be that light I was made aware of last night. As i also felt a magical disturbance.”
Myasnik arches a brow curiously at the word ‘magic’.
“Magic eh? Are we talking parlor tricks magic? Or is legitimate magic really a thing here?”
Celestia giggled lightly and teleports behind him quickly, he reacts quickly himself by spinning on his heel and leaps back a few feet, maintaining a good distance away from the princess. She frowns lightly when he does this, but understands his caution.
“You know young one, I don’t plan on trying to harm you or anything like that. I am just curious as to why you have been sent here. That’s all.”
“Well, I will tell you like I told Ms. Fluttershy. I didn’t have much of a choice. I was sucked in here at the last minute before the gateway that brought me here destroyed the facility it was in. Apparently my government was forming a way to get into your world. And God knows what would have happened then. I….don’t suppose you can send me back, huh?”
Celestia shakes her head with a soft frown.
“As much as I would love to get you back to your family, I am afraid I cannot allow you to leave. You have already seen too much of this world as it is, even though you have only been here for a day and a half. I am sorry young one, I truly am.”
Myasnik sighs and lowers his head a bit. He was sad that he was never going to see his mother again, that much was sure, but this wasn’t the time to grieve. He looks up at Celestia with a serious stare on his face.
“So what? Are you going to take me as a prisoner? Lock me in the dungeon and throw away the key?”
His question was half serious and half joking, though he hoped it was the latter. Thankfully the sun princess shook her head and offered her hand to him.
“No my dear. But I do need you to come with me so that my star student may learn more about you and those...odd items you have with you. You are the first of your kind we have seen come here.”
Myasnik knew she was talking about his guns. He was a little reluctant to hands them over. But at the same time, he did not want to cause any trouble. If they could teleport, what else could they do? He slowly takes her hand and nods. In a flash of light, they both vanish and appear in a large round room with all kinds of scientific equipment. Beaker, test tubes all kinds of electronics. He comes out of the teleportation a little dizzy, that having been his first time. He stumbles on his feet a little bit before gaining his balance back. He suddenly hear a gasp of excitement, the source was a lavender pony with a purple and pink-striped mane and tail. She had a decent body, not too thick or too skinny, just right in the middle. However, those stockings she wore along with that black skirt, very nice.
“Oooh so this is the creature that came here last night!”
Celestia clears her throat and glared slightly at Twilight.
“He isn’t a creature Twilight. He is a sentient being.”
He felt a little insulted being called a creature, but at the same time he understood.
“I am a human to be more precise. If anything, you are more of a creature to me, considering you are of equine origins. You are just cuter and have humanoid properties and traits unlike the horses back in my world. But seeing as you are able to talk and such. Your kind are all sentient and logical beings as well.”
One could see the eagerness in Twilight’s eyes and where they laid. She was looking bat the long metallic barrel that hung diagonally from his back down to his upper leg, his sniper rifle. He removed the cloak at he had received from Fluttershy, revealing both of his guns to the two ponies.
“Ooooh, what are those…?”
“Something I recommend you be extremely careful with if you must have a look at them. These items are of great importance. And just for good measure…”
He pulls the clip from his sniper rifle and slides it in his pocket and then removes the shells from the shotgun, sliding them both in the satchel he had brought with him that had extra ammo in it.
“There we go.”
He said as he sat both guns down on the table. Both Celestia and Twilight seemed to be rather interested in these items. They were so sleek and metallic. Both were heavy, but one was smaller than the other. Twilight picks the smaller and thicker one up in her hands. The metal was still very cold from the weather outside.
“And what exactly is this thing? And why do I get the feeling that it is something you don’t find on a colt your age often..?”
“That’s because it isn’t. In incapable hands, it is a danger to others and it’s bearer. That is why I removed the rounds that were inside them. They are weapons.”
Both the mares’ eyes widen as he reveals to them that they are indeed weapons. Twilight was quick to set the shotgun back on the table and step away from it, while Celestia glared down at Myasnik.
“And just what is a child such as yourself doing with these? You are too young to be holding these with you.”
“What are you, my mother? These weapons are mine. Not like I was going to use them unless I had to protect myself anyways. I have plenty of experience with them.”
He said as he slings them back onto his back once more. Celestia crosses her arms under her large bust and eyes the boy. He returns the gaze as well and then shakes his head.
“Not my fault my government kidnapped me and forced me to become a soldier at the age of fifteen. It was either that or they’d’ve killed me. So not wanting to die, I chose to learn.”
Myasnik may as well be up front with the ruler of this land, at least reveal as to why he had such deadly weapons with him. He’d keep his other sleeping abilities to himself for now.
“You kind forced you into this…?”
Celestia asked with a very unhappy look on her face, even Twilight wasn’t too thrilled of hearing that a child was forced into becoming a soldier. He nodded as a response.
“Where I come from, especially now, rogue groups in governments all across the world have something going on usually. Though let's just say for now, I was chosen on the day I was born. That is all I will reveal for now. Until a few months ago, I was just a simple junior high student going through school and enjoying life without a care in the world.”
He looks back to Celestia, his natural glare sending shivers up her spine.
“So what’s going to happen to me after Ms. Twilight here pelts me with questions? Gonna consider me a hostile threat? Change your mind and lock me up?”
She eyes him again, looking for honesty in his eyes. Where was Applejack when you needed her>
“Are these the only weapons you possess, young one?”
He shakes his head and reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a metallic item and holds it up so she could see it, wondering exactly what it is. Though after he flips the half of the handle over and twirls it around in his hands, it was clear to her that it was a very sharp knife once the blade was revealed.
“This is all I am hiding, a gift from my father before he passed away. If you want to keep me from using my guns, that’s fine, but I will not let this leave my side, ever.”
Celestia nodded. She wouldn’t take his weapons from him however. If he was trained properly in use and safety for them, what right did she have? The only issue now, was where he would be staying. As well as continuing his education. Everything that was taught was relatively the same...well except for history and such.
“I will give you a choice. You I will reside in Ponyville and attend the rest of your education there, but you may either stay with Twilight, or her friend, Fluttershy. She seemed to had taken a great liking to you. That seems fair enough doesn’t it?”
Myasnik rubbed his chin in thought at the idea. Going back to school with a bunch of ponies around or under his age, it certainly would be interesting. He has been moved around in many schools when his father was alive, as he was moved around a bit with his job, so adapting would be no trouble at all.
“I don’t want Ms. Fluttershy to worry about more than she has to. The poor mare was more than unwilling to let me leave earlier this morning. Besides, if Ms. Twilight here is a real bookworm, then I am sure she has a library of sorts I can read through and learn more about this world. So I will stay with her...as long as she keeps the cutting and probing tools a safe distance.”
He said shifting his eyes at the now excited Twilight who was holding a surgical blade, but then quickly hides it behind her back with a sheepish grin. Celestia blinks at her student and arches a brow. Then looks back down at Myasnik.
“Very well then. And you promise not to use your weapons and not harm anypony?”
“Sure, as long as it doesn’t count when it comes to self-defense. Then again…”
He said as he twirled his knife around some more.
“...This here is more than enough should anyone get any ideas.”
He said before sliding it back in his pocket. She nodded in agreement. She wasn’t going to deny him of self-defense, though she hoped that it wouldn’t come to that. Something about him put her on edge. It was like if he was given the chance and reason, he’d become violent and would injure the pony greatly that attacked him. The way he twirled his knife about without so much as a hint of concern for himself was proof of that.
“Alright then. Twilight, I leave him in your care for now. Please see to it that he is taken care of. Also, what is your name?”
“My name is Myasnik Schwarz. But Myasnik is just fine.”
Celestia nodded, though the name only put her more on edge for some reason. If only she knew the meaning of the name, she’d understand why. Once everything was decided and taken care of, both twilight and Myasnik head back to Ponyville.
On the way there, however, Twilight pelted him with many questions. Myasnik chose not to answer them and just remained quiet.the lavender unicorn was all too eager to follow Celestia’s orders, but her new charge was just so...tight-lipped. Never has she met somepony so quiet. When he was around Celestia, he was a bit more talkative, but now that he wasn’t in the presence of royalty anymore, getting him to talk was going to be a magic trick in of itself.
Once they got to the Golden Oak Library, Twilight lead him upstairs to the guest bedroom, which was now going to become his room. He walks in and nods to Twilight. He sets his shotgun on the table in the corner of the room, leaning his sniper rifle against it. He looks back to Twilight who was still standing on the threshold of the door. She couldn’t help but stare at him the way she did.
“Forgive me for being so quiet. I am not ready to reveal more than I already have. Nonetheless, thank you for allowing me to stay here, Ms. Twilight.”
At least he was polite. She had worried that when not in the presence of Celestia, he would be rather hostile. She was happy her thoughts were not realized.
“It’s no trouble. And Twilight is just fine. Well...I will let you get settled in. I will be downstairs should you need anything. I got a bit of studying to catch up on. Get plenty of rest, your education shall continue tomorrow. As we speak you are already being enrolled into the Ponyville school.”
“Fair enough. I will be here then.”
Once twilight leaves, Myasnik walks over to the window and stares out of it for a good while.
“I am stuck in a world that is not my own by any means, and I may never see my own mother again. I have mixed feelings about this. But, what can I do?”
