Author's Notes:

I'm proud of how this chapter came out and I went slightly above my 1500 limit. Alot of you people are still awesome with each passing day, I still can't get over how many thumbs up I've gotten and i'm still getting more each day.

The deeper I went into Canterlot, the more populated it got, I had wondered into the Market district, of course I wouldn’t be able to buy anything but it wouldn't hurt to go window shopping, I came across other things that Cantorlot had to offer, all sorts of Inns, homes, a blacksmith, potion shops, there’s so much the world has so much to offer and it seems to trigger bits of knowledge, yet no reminder of where it came from. Hmm? I do believe I’ve hit the Jackspot.

I came across a Library and I just had to check it out, I was greeted by the library who raised a hoof to her mouth, reminding me that reading was in session, I gave her an understanding nod and I went on my way exploring the place. According to the subjects at hand, it seems I was deep in slumber for fifty years, Cantorlot was built during that time, two princesses were crowned ruler, something about a Crystal Empire had also been built to the far North, the pony tribes are in harmony, however we still get a few bad apples, mostly those struggling to live in the world.

There’s even a book about… me? I had to quickly open it to make sure its exactly what I thought, surely enough, it was a book about me written by Starswirl the bearded about a magical entity of water in the Everfree Forest who spoke with a calm serene voice, the book spoke of the many days he would visit with his star pupil, Clover the clever, apparently I was Clover’s inspiration because if a pool of bodyless water can use magic, so can Clover, well, that’s certainly a strange way of inspiring people.

Reading further into the book even showed Starswirl’s research about me, the magic I have inside of me is something controlled, pure, and often chaotic, always changing, even he tried to harness the magic, however failed, he came back to my original location after the Windigos vanished to find quite and unresponsive, Starswirl believed I was dead. Near the end of the book, he claims that a part two was in the making, so I searched high and low for the second part but I couldn’t find it, either the book is rare, or it never came to be.

“Looking for something?” My attention, making me look down from the ladder I was on to see a blue with a white coat, I responded to him the same way I did with Quality, lipsync my mouth with my mental voice.

[I was, but Starswirl’s second book on Entity Of Water doesn’t seem to be here]

“Ah, now that’s a rarity, but sadly he never got to doing it, he probably lost track of time on another one of his spell making, the guy rarely goes outside and doesn’t talk to many people except his apprentice, the royal sisters, and anyone who shows promise of great magic.” The blue stallion said.

[So you know Starswirl The Bearded?]

“Not personally, but Clover always talks about his latest lessons, always looking up books on everything related to magic.”

[Hmm, and where would he be at the moment?]

“Most likely in his own personal library of his own in the West wing at the Cantorlot castle.” Hearing those words made me a little excited to reunite with a familiar face, I made my way down the ladder and walked up to the blue stallion, extended a hoof to his.
[Thank you mr…] I gave him a moment to get the hint.

“Aurora Sparkle” He said in return, our hoofs connected for the tradition handshake, he didn’t comment on the temperature of my hoof, thank the Gods above.

[Echo]

“Ha, that’s kind of funny, your voice matches your name” Aurora commented, strange, my voice doesn’t echo to me, perhaps it echos outside of my mind.

[It was nice meeting you, but I do believe I'll go visit Starswirl] I said, I was to leave but Aurora spoke before I could.

“Oh, you’re gonna have a hard time doing, security has been increased around the castle when someone broke in, the stallions lucky he didn’t get hurt.”...Hearing that made a little worried, did Starswirl make a few enemies while I was gone? I lowered my head and began pondering about it.

[i’m sure I'll think of a way] I said, and by that I meant sneaking in liquid form just to visit him, i’m got a lot of questions for that pony and I wish to catch up on more recent history that have not been recorded in book.

“Good luck then, Echo.” He said just as I was walking away, I didn’t respond back though as I had a goal in mind.

Just as I excited the library, the sun suddenly moved on its own, the skies turning from Day to Night, I had to blink a couple of times to make sure I wasn’t just seeing things.. I know that a few of the books explained that Starswirl could move the sun and moon, but seeing it was a whole different story, I was more used to seeing it change slowly instead of spontaneous like that, that’s a lot question I need to ask him about..

I made my way over to the castle entrance, two white unicorn stallions wearing gold armor blocked me from going in. “Halt, why is thou business here, stranger?”...He spoke in ye old English instead of the same as the other ponies.. Strange.

I cleared my throat and responded. [I am here to see Starswirl the Bearded.] They flinched when they heard my mental voice, but relaxed since it was somewhat coming from my muzzle.
“What is thy name?”
[Echo]
“What is thy quest?”
[To see Starswirl the bearded?] I asked in puzzle voice.. Why does this feel so eerily familiar..
“What.. is thy favorite color?”
[Why is is this important?]
“Answer the question.”
[Orange..]
“What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen Pegasi?” I gave the guard a VERY hard annoyed look before he burst out laughing. “I’m just jesting with thou, Mine duty as a guard can be boring”

[...Right.. Can I please meet Starswirl?] I asked with a sigh.

“Is he expecting you?” He asked, now suddenly speaking in a serious tune.
[Not exactly, I’ve a long time friend of his and it has been many years since I spoke with him.]
The two guards began talking and murmuring to each other, one of them pulled out an old notebook a started reading to it silently. “I’m s'rry, but that gent won’t beest available. belike nev'r, he’s hath been caught up in making spells, his s'rvants and his steward hast to keepeth reminding that pony to consume when he keeps getting caught up in his arcane studies” The guard shook his head. “I feel sorry for thee stallion, such skill in power yet he hath friends to be with.”

I’ll need to sneak in then, it should be an easy task, the guards were trained to find intruders such as ponies, they’ve never seen the very likes of me yet. [Thank you for the time, I'll try later at another hour, perhaps tomorrow.] I said, bowing them farewell and walking off, I kept walking until I was out of sight, I quickly made my way into an alley, then did a double check to make sure I was alone.
I let go of my concentration and allowed my body to fall apart into liquid, willing it to my mind, I traveled quickly into a small crevice and into Cantorlot castle.

I had to admit, when Aurora told me that security has been increased, I think he underestimated his words, security was tight around here, a guard in every hallway and at every doorway, I had to take a lot of shortcuts and get lost, there have been a couple of close calls but I finally managed to locate Starswirl’s library, the place was massive, thousand upon thousands of rows filled with books, scrolls, and in the middle of the room was a giant hourglass, I manage to locate Starswirl with his nose deep in a rather big book.

“I know you’re there..” Starswirl said, he levitated the book down and turned his body around to look at me. “Servant of Chaos.”

[Servant Of Chaos?] I chuckled. [Do you not a recognize an old friend?] slowly, I reform back into the unicorn form, the one with no hair.. hmm, I’ll need to alter that later on.

Starswirl's mouth dropped at the sight of me. “...E-echo? No, that can’t be… After the Windigos, you did respond to me, I visited you every day, but your voice remained silent.. I had figured you were long gone, it has been two hundred years since then… No, you can’t be him.. Your body is filled with more chaos magic than him....”

[The very same you detected when your student Clover took a bucket of my being as a sample.] I said, his old golden eyes went wide.
“..Why, Echo… Why?” He asked, shaking his head, he stared at me with a very long time, his eyes telling me that his mind went into calculating state, his horn glowed brightly, it made me back away in fear, whatever spell he casted, had made contact with my body, but no damage was done, I saw multiple lights flash throughout my being, revealing numbers and stats in a floating bar.. “..You.. You must be him, as hard as it seems, you indeed have the same energy signature: Chaotic, yet tamed and controlled. No matter how much I researched, the answers never came.. How are you able to control chaos magic?” Starswirl asked, slowly getting closer to me. “And in the form of a unicorn too...”

[Even I don’t have the answers to that, friend…] I said with disappointment in my voice, despite Starswirl being the smartest pony I know, even he didn’t know, I was just as lost as I was before.

“However...” My liquid ear perked up on instinct when Starswirl said that. “If I had to make a guess, you might be the result of a failed experiment, perhaps by someone who used their magic on you so long ago, I have named this magic Chaos because I could not find a way to harness the energy, it responds to you fairly easily though.” Starswirl with a sigh. “But I will not give up, I will tame this source of energy, I see many great uses for it despite it’s nature, already I see can that it can be used in transmutations, alchemy, to quickly build a house with a clop of your hoofs, to take something apart easily. I’ve brought this attention to the Royal Twins about the matter, but when I showed them the small amount of magic I drew from your sample, they were scared from what they saw and felt, they told me to drop the research, I couldn’t believe their ignorance when we could be on verge on the greatest discover in history!” Starswirl, his eyes full of pride and determination.

[...Tell me, starswirl.. Why are you trying so hard to create more spells and ways to use magic?]

“Because I only wish to help the ponies of the world, so I try to manipulate magicka in as many ways as I can, that way if my knowledge passes to other future magic users, they too will be able to use it to defend themselves or any task they wish to fulfill.“his eyes gleamed brightly at this.

I heard a knock on the front door. “Art thou alright? Who art thy speaking too?” A male voice asked from the other side of the door, possibly one of the guards

“Just a new spell, nothing to worry about” He lied.

“… Thou need a new hobby, you might end up creating a Talk-To-Yourself spell if you keep this up” The guard said in a joking voice, followed by a loud laugh. Starswirl let out a scoff in disbelief, this unicorn is very passionate about his magic, I do worry that it’s going to turn into an obsession at this rate.

“That’s not important, Echo, but I do wish to request your assistance.. Please, allow me another sample of your body, I need more chaos magic if I ever to hope unlock its secrets...” Starswirl said, his eyes begging for the answer, I went silent at that moment, thinking about the possibility of this.

[...Tell you what, I have a better idea, instead of you studying alone, how about we do this together, we’ll experiment and since I’ve learned how to control this power on a small scale, I could try to teach you the same way I learned it.. Deal?] I asked, and he went into deep into though about this, but he did come to a conclusion, he reached over with a hoof and I did the same, we both shook on it.
