Two Spells, One Mistake
Chapter 64: Fears of a Diamond
Previous Chapter Next ChapterStarlight walks down the steps from the second-floor balcony of the Wyvern House dorm, heaving a heavy sigh as she turns off the path heading towards the left side of the building. As she gets closer, Trinity's moderately sized wagon sits, just tucked by the side of the dorm next to a drain outlet.
"He should be fine... I'm only just outside and won't be gone that long." Starlight states semi-reassuringly as she approaches the wagon.
Taking a deep breath, she opens the door to see Lucita and Trinity still in bed and now moving around rapidly since she entered.
"Starlight?!" Lucita asks annoyed as she covers them both with the quilt.
"I'm really sorry to barge in like this, but you're the best option for me to turn to..." Starlight states closing the door and rubbing her right arms slightly.
Sighing deeply, she adjusts to cuddle Trinity to her while Starlight is prompted to sit on a bean bag nearby. Getting comfortable, Lucita looks at Starlight.
"So... What can I, or we help you with this early in the bloody morning..?" Lucita asks laying her head on Trinity's shoulder.
"It's about Alexander... Something happened between him and Edward yesterday and things have been tense since... From what I overheard this morning from Ripley and Alexander's conversation, I'm led to believe he does have a familiar..." Starlight begins to explain playing with her fingers nervously.
"That secret came out sooner than we'd planned..." Trinity feels Lucita hold her slightly tighter, "I think it'd be best to explain it when we're all here."
Turning to her left at a sudden sound, Starlight can see Alexander enter the wagon accompanied by another Wyvern House male student. He has slightly tanned skin with a short afro and brown eyes.
"I figured you'd come to my sister for answers as I wasn't in much of a talking mood... I thought if we were going to explain a family secret, the whole family in Kilgharrah should be present. Allow me to introduce you to our rather elusive third sibling and most studied brother, Steveland Night." Alexander states as their brother's bows slightly.
"I confess it's nice to finally meet you, I would have introduced myself sooner but... Out of the three of us, I am the most recluse. Steve is just fine, by the way." Steve states leaning against the doorway.
"Our sister is the older sibling while Steve and I are twin brothers," Alexander explains, lifting Starlight to sit under her.
Blushing lightly, Starlight gets comfortable on Alexander's lap.
"Where should we begin? I guess... For a couple of generations, Ventus has watched over our family. Though until this point nobody has ever formed a contract with him." Lucita states glancing at Alexander.
"Granted he is our most well-kept secret, however, it's not exactly illegal for a familiar to protect a family, just not form a contract with them if blacklisted. Alexander, was exploring a cave nearby the family estate when he stumbled upon Ventus. It's a mystery though how he came to form a contract with the ancient familiar who hasn't been seen since Merlin's time..." Steve states folding his arms.
Alexander sighs, Starlight feels him shift slightly.
"I was curious, a couple of months before I actually came to Kilgharrah Ventus and I talked... We formed a contract because the circumstances required we did. Since then it's been a one-sided relationship and I've never tapped into his offered power." Alexander explains holding Starlight tightly.
"That's quite impressive if the wind magic you've used thus far has been only your own." Starlight states wiggling a little.
Both Lucita and Steve smile slightly as they look at Alexander and Starlight.
"You two are enjoying this way too much..." Alexander states sighing deeply.
"You just look so cute together, I always thought it'd be Phoneix but I'm happy to see you close with someone," Lucita states giving Trinity's shoulder a kiss.
"I'll admit it's comforting to know she looks out for you," Steve adds unfolding his arms to stretch, "As much as I'd like to stay for more, I need to finish some exam preparations." Steve leaves after saying his farewells.
Starlight slides around on Alexander's lap so she can see his face. Her expression one of unease rather than comfort.
"What made Diamond run away yesterday, he saw something when you were being a little wild with your wind magic?" Starlight asks, idly placing her arms around his neck.
"From what I have been told, he and Ventus fought back when he was still Merlin's familiar. During said fight, he was able to hit Diamond a couple of times, actually cutting him which surprised the gem. It stands to reason if he thought Ventus might still be around, that he'd be the biggest threat." Alexander states with an unsure shrug.
Starlight lays her head on Alexander's shoulder before letting out a big sigh, glancing up into his eyes.
"I think a trip to the spa might be in order... We can figure out what to do from there, and where we might be able to find Edward." Starlight stands up and thanks Lucita.
"It's only been a day, he'll come back when he's ready... That's not to say I don't want to find him, I do. I just feel we both need space to think after yesterday, I need to think after yesterday..." Alexander slides past Starlight to exit the wagon.
"Look after the asshole for me, I get the feeling this shit is only the beginning," Lucita asks Starlight who nods before following the magician.
