Two Spells, One Mistake
Chapter 56: Earth, Fire, Water Heed my Call...
Previous Chapter Next ChapterStarlight sighs as she begins to sift through the rubble and splintered wood, before the pile blocking the basement stairs spontaneously combusts clearing the way. Edward helps Twilight up the stairs into what remains of the Pegasus dorm lobby, looking around at the wind-swept carnage.
"That's a lot of damage..." Edward comments as Starlight moves to check Twilight.
"I'm going to take Twilight back to the room to rest, we'll see you both later, try to be careful." Starlight vanishes with a magical pop using her magic.
Edward sits down on what's left of the lobby stairs, sighing deeply.
"This academy year feels like it's going to be anything but simple, I think I'd prefer a Smooze to this bullshit." Alexander stretches before sighing himself.
Alexander begins to walk towards the ruined entrance before Edward's next words make him stop.
"What did you do to make Diamond run off? By the looks of it, you were in storm mode, but we both know he's likely the leader of those gems which makes him very powerful... Twilight doesn't believe Starlight gave the impression that was needed to make him look how he did when he collected his minion downstairs." Edward asks, looking at Alexander's back.
Alexander finds himself in an impossible situation, one he's pictured a thousand times without coming to a useful solution. Taking a deep breath, he turns to face Edward.
"Would you believe me if I said we had a staring contest in a cyclone and he shit himself?" Alexander asks sounding hopeful.
"If it wasn't an ancient mirror gem who plans to conquer our academy, yes... Not this time though." Edward deadpans making Alexander rubs the bridge of his nose.
"Saw that coming at least... Fuck sake," Alexander sighs deeply, "If I said I had my familiar's indirect help?"
Edward raises an eyebrow, "So, Starlight did help you drive him away?"
Alexander groans slightly, wondering how to word the next part of his reply.
"Not Starlight..." Alexander states weakly.
"Alexander, you don't have another 'familiar', we don't have any other 'familiars'," Edward states rubbing his forehead.
Alexander rolls his eyes and sighs harder, not figuring any good way to say what he wants, he decides to say fuck it.
"I have a familiar..." Alexander mumbles not loud enough to be heard.
"Dude, I can't hear you when you talk like that..." Edward deadpans harder towards Alexander who rolls his eyes.
"I HAVE A FAMILIAR GOD DAMN IT!" Alexander shouts with his eyes closed.
Edward stares at Alexander for several minutes, unable to accurately process what he's just been told or dismissing it entirely. Finally, his brain snaps back into place with an odd noise.
"Waaaaa?!" Edward blinks several times, "W-what the fuck are you even on about?!"
"Oh for fuck sake." Alexander rolls his eyes and throws off his blazer.
Unbuttoning his shirt, Alexander turns around and drops his shirt down to reveal a large fullback black draconic tattoo much like a familiar mark. Edward's mind further breaks with the same odd noise as before.
"Waaaaa?!" Edward blinks even more now standing up, "Is this why you always change away from the other in M.D.E? I thought you were just shy, which made no sense given your muscled genes!"
"Shy?! Seriously?! I'm surprised those other idiots bought it for this long. I mean, slightly, but that is beyond the point of this scenario!" Alexander groans putting his shirt back right.
"This still doesn't make any fucking sense! A magician can have multiple familiars, so why when we performed the ritual together at the year two ceremony did none show up?" Edward queries sounding slightly annoyed.
Alexander picks up and dusts off his blazer before putting it back on.
"I'm sure it was explained to us that not all familiars get along with each other... Especially when a familiar has been sealed/blacklisted by their former magician..." Alexander explains folding his arms.
"That doesn't make any sense either, what familiar could you possibly have that would even-"
"It's the Wind Wyvern, Ventus, who used to serve... Merlin." Alexander sighs as he leans against a nearby wooden pillar which survived.
Edward's mouth fell slightly open at this, not entirely sure what his roommate is implying.
"What possessed you to form a contract with a blacklisted familiar?! No wonder we got no reaction from the ritual... It's been two months since then and you couldn't even mention this to me? Having me believe this whole time we were in the same situation and couldn't get familiars yet!" Edward sounds extremely annoyed.
"How the fuck would I even do that? 'Oh, by the way, I'm technically breaking magician law by forming an unconditional pact with a blacklisted familiar', what the fuck was I suppose to do?!" Alexander replies, sighing annoyingly.
Pacing back and forth in front of the stairs, Edward continuously groans in frustration.
"It's highly unlikely your family didn't know, so is there anyone else who you've told?" Edward asks still pacing.
"No, we thought it best to keep it in the family..." Alexander replies.
"So, that doesn't include the three friends you've known for several years? The three you consider so-called 'brothers' that you couldn't even share this important secret with? Especially the one you screwed over at the year two ritual. Did you think we'd rat you out?" Edward asks facing Alexander, who appears unsure how to answer.
"You of all people know I'd never of done that on purpose, I figured familiars would still show up... It was only after that Ventus explained it to me, I wasn't sure how to even begin to tell you, let alone share it with the group..." Alexander rubs his forehead.
Edward groans louder, "Something would have better than nothing! You didn't even try to tell us or even hint! Has all the wind magic you've used been influenced by your familiar?"
Alexander shakes his head, "No, I don't let Ventus influence my wind techniques, I reject his help if anything despite how he insists at times... I guess it could of been him that Diamond saw, an original familiar might caused that reaction given their power."
Sighing, Edward heads for the dorm entrance, "I need air..."
"Dude, come on, it's not like I didn't trust-" Edward interrupts Alexander by continuing to walk out the ruined entrance.
Sighing deeply, Alexander snaps his fingers at the lobby stairs in frustration, exploding them in a flurry of wind that splinters the wood.

Okay, trying very hard to catch up with our three chapters behind and make some progress. Our aim is to be caught up by Sunday but both my co-author and I, have been very busy, especially him. I've been dealing with an annoying writer's block while he has had education and life to deal with. With any luck and the plans we have made, we'll be back up to where we should be and stay there but we make no promises.
