Two Spells, One Mistake
Chapter 50: Beyond the Looking Glass
Previous Chapter Next ChapterStarlight slowly comes to as she looks around the area she is in to see a large wall sized mirror in a cavern type room. Glancing beside her she can see Alexander is tied up, looking down she can see that she is too.
"Ugh... I feel ill..." Alexander groans lightly.
"What happened?" Starlight prompts Alexander who deadpans at her.
"Don't even go there... You fucking jinxed us, remember?!" Alexander shouts looking unamused.
Thinking slightly Starlight tries to recall the prior events leading up to their apparent capture.
Alexander and Starlight are walking casually through a part of the forest, near the academy docks where boats come and go on a weekly basis. The duo eventually comes across a section of forest which is much less maintained than the rest. The trees are more overgrown and the ground is littered with leaves, twigs and vines.
"I feel like we're getting closer..." Alexander states as they find the abandoned dorm from before.
"What the hay is this place? It looks run down." Starlight states looking over the Pegasus plague on the front gate.
Inspecting the moss covered brick gate, Alexander hums at the plague as he isn't exactly sure. Stepping past the broken iron gate, he continues up the vined path, glancing at dorm garden which has been severely overgrown, including the double door in front of him which is covered in vines. Following close behind, Starlight catches up till she reaches the door.
"These vines were very recently moved..." Alexander states before pulling them down so he can open the right door.
Sighing deeply, Starlight follows Alexander as he enters the old run down mansion styled building. The main lobby is comprised of a door to the left and right as you come in, then a staircase directly ahead, which splits off in either direction to reach the second floor. There is a decayed portrait of a majestic Pegasus familiar hung just above the centre staircase.
"This looks like a house dorm, but I thought there are only four houses." Starlight states in observation as they look around.
"There are, or at least now there are. A few centuries ago though, I heard there were two additional dorms. Notice how each of the dorms have an equal or opposite element should I say. Right now it's Fire - Water, Earth - Lightning. However, the official magician's compendium lists them as thus, Water - Earth, Fire - Ice, Wind - Electricity and finally Light to Dark. There is also a more advanced table which lists many of the known sub-categories and variations of standalone magic that exist. Going by that table there are two potential missing houses. This appears to be one such house and if I had to guess by the current evidence, this was Pegasus House... The home of wind magic..." Alexander states seeming a bit sad in his last words.
"You would have liked it here then... Seems a shame it has been gone for so long." Starlight sighs and rubs Alexander's arm.
Recollecting himself they begin to search around the main lobby before Alexander's attention is drawn to a door under the stairs on the left side of the room. Turning the handle, Alexander finds the door is unlocked and opens it to see a set of stairs leading down.
"Starlight, I found some stairs." Alexander states as he begins to go down.
Summoning a little ball of light, she follows Alexander down the stairs. Upon reaching the bottom, the pair finds themselves in what must have been the Pegasus Dorm storage area as there are cobwebbed boxes and barrels still down there. Looking around, Alexander follows a path of disturbed cobwebs which leads him to a blown open section of wall, glancing beyond he sees a tunnel.
"I think someone was here before us... I'd wager very recently." Alexander mumbles before going down the tunnel.
"W-wait for me, you've not been acting normal since your headache at the dorm... Are you okay?" Starlight asks, sounding concerned.
"For the most part yeah, I just feel something drawing me in through here." Alexander replies as they begin to come to the tunnel's end.
Exiting the tunnel the pair enter a small room where the whole back wall is made of some form of mirror. Looking curious, Alexander begins walking towards it with Starlight following just behind him.
"I don't think this is a good idea anymore... We could go back to the room and have a nice massage or cuddle?" Starlight asks looking behind her before back to Alexander.
"Just a few more moments." Alexander states staring into the mirror, the two now next to it.
In the mirror Alexander's reflection is slightly twisted with purple eyes, meanwhile, Starlight's reflection is more twisted and has emerald green eyes.
"Alexander..." Starlight whimpers.
Ignoring her for the moment, Alexander lightly touches the mirror making the pair be engulfed by darkness which blasts them back against the opposite wall, knocking them out cold.
"Oh... That's what happened... But how have I jinxed us? I don't see any negative mirror-" Starlight suddenly looks in front of her. making her sigh deeply.
Sitting on a medium sized box is a replica of Alexander wearing a black version of his uniform, has white hair with black streaks and slightly glowing royal purple eyes. Atop his lap, however, is an almost exact replica of Starlight wearing a matching uniform, has the same coat, but her mane is black with emerald streaks the same emerald as her eyes.
"Thank you for finally waking up, even more for allowing us to be free from that mirror once again." The Alexander copy chuckles as he cuddles the mare in his arms.
"Yes, thank you. It's enthralling to have a physical form again after so many long years." The Starlight copy smiles and nuzzles the man.
Looking confused, Starlight looks between them and Alexander before shaking her head and she begins to struggle against her bindings.
"Diamond and Emerald, I presume.." Alexander sighs deeply.
Tapping the ass of his mare, she gets up so he can leap up and stretch.
"Yes, indeed! Allow us to properly and formally introduce ourselves. I am the mirror gem entity known as Diamond. I lead the other gem rabble who are still in the mirror." Diamond introduces himself before giving his Starlight copy a slap on the flank as a prompt.
"Ah~, my name is Emerald, Diamonds second and his wonderful wife~" She giggles and spins to bump into Diamond, who holds her close.
"We mirror gems can replicate the bodies and abilities of those who touch the mirror. However, there are certain limitations... They must have the same birth month as the stone. For example, you are April, the gem I am for and Starlight is May the month Emerald is for. Searching through what you both know, we determined that your friends are perfect for two others I need out at the moment." Diamond chuckles evilly as he squats next to Alexander.
Struggling in his binds, Starlight actually sees Alexander start to get genuinely angry when Diamond mentioned his friend.
"You fucking hurt any of my friends and I'll shatter your white ass so fucking hard, your kiss ass gem friends in the mirror will feel it, you cheap knock-off cu-" Alexander rants before his throat is grabbed by Diamond.
Laughing hard, the gem in question eyes glow more brightly than before and after a few seconds calm down.
"You have a lot of spirit... It's a shame none of the prior Pegasus house had the power you do to back it up. They all died together, exactly like they wanted, but none of them was powerful enough to prevent their destruction. You on the other hand... You have it, don't you? I know what you know and I know what you hide away in here... It's a shame you'll never use your full potential, even when they need you most..." Diamond pushes against Alexander's chest hard before standing up.
Diamond and Emerald leave the room and Alexander to his thoughts. Starlight remains silent, not sure what to say or do as she has never seen her partner so worked up.
