Chapter 49: A Deception Most Foul

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Alexander sits up suddenly, blinking several times as he looks around the infirmary type room with white walls, one hospital bed, a few curtains, windows which peer out to more white and a sink with a mirror above it.

"That's the last time I mix my drinks..." Alexander comments looking around before his attention is drawn to the only green metal door in the room.

Glancing down, Alexander can see he is wearing the regular fire red Wyvern House uniform. Shaking his head, he slowly moves out of the bed to stumble a little, regaining his balance. Eyeing the door oddly, Alexander moves to open it revealing more pure white walls in the form of hallways. Feeling this whole setting is more than a little creepy, Alexander leaves the room and begins searching around finding nobody else in his venture. Walking past an open door, he takes a few steps back and looks inside to see two armchairs in front of an old fashioned tv.

"I've seen this shit somewhere else before... I swear if some fucker pops up like, 'this is all a dream' or 'this is known as the matrix', I'm out." Alexander looks around the room to find it unsurprisingly has the same white wall theme.

"Hello, Alexander." Alexander's gaze is drawn to a male, identical to himself but with slightly glowing royal purple eyes, white hair with black streaks and wearing a black version of his uniform.

"Who the fuck are you? Where the fuck am I?" Alexander asks looking very confused.

"Well, it's not whatever this 'Matrix' is. Nor is it a dream, per say. We are, however, in your subconscious mind, it's just easier to hear our voice like this." He leans back in the right armchair.

"Great... I'm unconscious on the uncomfortable bathroom floor..." Alexander groans as he sits in the left armchair.

"Indeed. Now, as for your first question, simply refer to me as Diamond. While the name might not fit entirely, it is not unfounded." Diamond explains making Alexander nod slightly.

Folding his legs and interlocking his fingers in his lap, Alexander thinks for a minute before looking at Diamond.

"So... Why am I unconscious on the bathroom floor again?" Alexander asks

Sighing deeply and rubbing the bridge of his nose, Diamond looks slightly to his right like listening to something.

"I'm getting to it... Yes, I had planned to mention that... Will you just let me handle this? Jesus..." Diamond turns back to face Alexander who looks a little worried. "Don't mind her, just the wife. You're unconscious because it's easier to communicate with you like this. Wind magic users who are rather proficient in their craft can hear us better than most, but it's still more efficient in here."

"Right, so what do you want me to do? I remember somebody saying something about help?" Alexander asks raising an eyebrow.

Rolling his eyes, Diamond stands up before making the tv and armchair dissipate.

"That was Emerald... She isn't exactly subtle when it comes to her methods. Basically, we need your help... There's a delicate matter concerning a location on the academy campus we need you to go to. Find an object perform a spell and that's it." Diamond explains smiling.

"That's it? No strings or otherworldy requirements?" Alexander stands up and looks at Diamond suspiciously.

"Nope, just go to the location, cast a spell and done. The spell might be beyond your level, but I doubt that'll be a problem for you." Diamond poofs the other armchair before walking towards the now closed door which led into the room.

"How will I know where to go?" Alexander turns to look at Diamond who has reopened the door.

"We'll be in touch." Diamond states before walking through and closing the door behind him.

Alexander looks around the white room eventually coming back to the door which has also vanished.

"Well, what the fuck do I do now?!" Alexander yells at the room but gets no response.

Alexander opens his eyes to see a naked Starlight squatting to the side of him as he lays on the, as predicted, cold, uncomfortable, bathroom floor.

"That's the last time I mix my drinks... Could it have killed you to move me?" Alexander asks looking up at Starlight.

"I could have but you've only been out for a couple of minutes. What happened?" Starlight asks, helping Alexander stand up.

Alexander looks around the room before hugging Starlight slightly, feeling up her body as she glances at him weirdly.

"Hmm... You feel real enough..." Alexander pushes her away slightly.

"Bucker better not be suggesting he thought any of this wasn't natural..." Starlight deadpans at Alexander who chuckles a little and shakes his head.

"No, your body is perfect, I was just unconscious in my mind, I think. This really weird dude named Diamond spoke to me..." Alexander explains as he stretches, moving back into their bedroom.

Following him, Starlight is more than a little confused.

"Right... You can explain that to me later I guess, Edward text and said, 'coming home to check on you two, please finish up any freaky or erotic shit BEFORE we arrive... Please." Starlight recites the text which makes Alexander chuckle.

"He makes it sound like we're erotic deviants or something. Which we're not... Yet, anyway. You can be here when he gets back but I have to check something out." Alexander begins looking through his wardrobe and gets dressed into a uniform.

Starlight casts a spell which makes her uniform appear on her naked body, which she adjusts slightly before catching up with Alexander who is now in the living room.

"Wait a second... I'm confused enough as it is. Where are you going?" Starlight stands in front of Alexander looking concerned.

Alexander doesn't look any less confused himself as he struggles to properly form, let along think of what to say to the Unicorn standing in front of him.

"I don't know... Not entirely at least. It's somewhere on campus, not too far from here I think. I'd like it if you came with me, I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was a tad out of my depth." Alexander states rubbing the back of his neck

Starlight chuckles before sighing at Alexander.

"I'd be more worried if you told me to stay here. In case you missed what everyone else seems to have noticed, we haven't exactly been apart too much since I got here... You'd have to magically paralyze me in order to stop me following you." Starlight gives Alexander a kiss which seems to calm him down a little.

"RIght... Sorry, I'm not used to open relationships like this. I also know I shouldn't dwell on my past ones and move on with you... I'm fortunate enough that you've been patient with me this far and we weren't even together." Alexander takes several deep breathes.

Starlight skips lightly to the door before opening it with a smile and prompting Alexander to follow.

"I like you, Alexander. I can be patient when I want to be and for things or people I like. Heh, least I'm not bottling up the emotions I'm feeling towards you or situations like I did with a friend back home..." Starlight wears an awkward smile.

"While I don't know what became of that situation, I'll just be thankful you're not doing it. Let's go see where my feeling takes us." Alexander walks out the door followed by Starlight who locks up.

"What's the worst that can happen? We get captured by negative mirror shades of ourselves and held captive for some of our friends to walk into a trap? Pshh this isn't the movies after all." Starlight jokes as she catches up to Alexander who raises an eyebrow at her.

Author's Notes:

Delayed, again, sorry. I will get on top of this I promise and at least we aren't having ridiculous times for delays, yet. Things progress at their normal pace and slowly get interesting as a new plot takes hold. See you next time. :moustache:
