Girls, girls! I discovered something unbelievable.

I had some time off school, so I managed to start the original Midnight Castle. It’s still too early to say, but in one chapter there's a mysterious character from Equestria said to have “more magic power than anyone else.” It's never revealed who that character is exactly (s/he talks to original Danny using mist), but there’s the following line:

“Who exactly are you?” Danny took a step back. “A prince? A wizard? A ruler?”

“Hmm. A bit of all, I guess,” the mistform laughed. “You can call me a child, though. Compared to the powers that created reality, isn't that all we are?”

(It's from the chapter “The Dagger Within”)

The character never appears again, but he (I assume it's a he) clearly wants to be called Child. On the other hoof, going back though Equestrian history, there's one figure that is extremely well known and said to have ruled, or guided, Equestria with magic throughout the ages: Starswirl the Bearded.

@PrinceEric: That's actually a very good theory. Sorry if I can't be more enthusiastic, but I'm still a bit shaken up. I got a message from AwesomePony apologizing again, but nothing more. I guess at least we know she's okay…sort of.

Back to the theory. There has been some speculation, but that's the first time I hear any reference, even if it's very vague. There's certainly nothing in Mistmount Chronicles. Although, it's possible that during the first series, S. Child felt he could put in a small self insert. Very clever, I must admit.

Of course, you might be completely off. There have been a number of “children” in the serious, some of them good, some evil. The Shadowchild comes to mind (another S, mind you). While it's clear that they are an experiment of the Felina corp, it’s still out there and on the loose. And let's not forget the Autumn Child (which opens the door to there being an Spring and Summer child).

Still, great theory. The perfect thing to get us fired up before the next chapter. Just 12 days to go! :D

@PrinceEric: I still haven't read the originals, but seems like a solid theory to me. We all know that Starswirl played a lot with portals. And he did master time, so maybe he created the Everhere: a place that's a frozen moment of time and/or reality. I perfectly see him as hanging out with the gods (he's a guy too, remember). That would be so fun if it's true :)

Of course, saying this, I see a whole new set of ships. (There have been a few good ones with Starswirl, actually. Not ships, stories.)

I, for one, think that it might not be Starswirl per se, but a descendant of his. Note that it's Child, so it could well be Starswirl’s Child.

A thing that none have commented on is him being referred to as a prince (which Starswirl never was). Advisor, Regent, Archwizard yes, but prince… That role fits his descendants much better. Also, note that prince clearly tells us that he's male. (Although it might be Danny messing up, as usual.)

@LightSparkle: Dark is in Canterlot on an urgent matter. I think it's possible. Though. Starswirl did know a lot of time and dimensional spells, even if he was a bit sloppy. I could totally see him going to Earth by accident. I never heard him habits children, though.

@Simile: can you give some references?

Actually, Simile is correct. Starswirl did, in fact, have a child before he became all great and powerful. There is significant speculation whether his line died out or not, but there are scholars insist that there are Starswirl descendants even today.

Just to note that the Starswirl line is different from the royal line (which is started with Princess Celestia and lives on today through Prince Blueblood).

Heh, I'm something of an expert on Starswirl (everypony has hobbies ;))

@PrinceEric: I love the theory! It will also explain so much, like how Equestria and Earth got a portal between them. I'm also a bit conflicted because I lived Brush’s “Mountain-Kun” teaser :)

Please write that! I know it isn't exactly MC material, but it deserves to exist!

@TheRealLuna: Oh, come on. :/ Sombra was locked away when the first series was written. By definition that means that no one could remember him or anything related to him. Having someone choose a pen name after him is absurd.

On the other hand, Siren Child fits. Great, now I’m more confused than before! Thanks a lot, @PrinceEric :P

Oooh! It being a child of Starswirl would be so cool! I mean, just imagine what he could do with that much knowledge and spells! Maybe he could even face Hercules or the titans? Somepony must write this!

Actually, I don't know either. I was too young when S. Child used to work with the writers personally. Still, it's a great theory! Who knows? It might even be true ;)
