Harmony's Defeat
Chapter 1: Prolouge
Load Full Story Next ChapterThe year is 2015. War between Russia and the United Nations has sprung rapidly. Nine months have passed since Russia spontaneously attacked multiple UN military installations. Of course the UN responded in kind and the war has gone on ever since. No one knows why Russia attacked but of course, no one even bothered to try find out why. Rumours say that the UN wanted this war for years so they could get the extra oil in Russia. Fortunately this new world war was not of the nuclear kind. Anti-Missile ballistic satellites (or AMBS’s) litter the planets orbit ready to fire large metal slugs which destroy any nuclear missiles that leave the earth’s atmosphere, an ingenious design by the eggheads in the UN. Russian scientists also made the own AMBS’s of similar design after realising the UN could launch nukes without any consequence to themselves. The Russian AMBS’s used EMP based lasers so they would naturalise the missile without destroying it. They were soon known as Electro-Magnetic Missile defences (or EMMD’s), basically the more advance version of an AMBS.
My name is ‘Courage’, a 21 year old guy from England. There is so much more to me than that and you will find out more as I tell you my story; a very complex and confusing story. Even I had trouble believing it at the time and I was the one actually experiencing it. Before I start I should probably tell you my back story. I lived a pretty normal life: Went to school, college, got a job and so on. Just like any other human being. I also loved to watch My little Pony: Friendship is magic. A children's T.V show about ponies and the magic of friendship. My parents named me Courage because they were both in the army and wanted me to be strong while they were posted abroad, or worse, when they died in battle. I spent most of my days living with my older sister. My sister was 18 and already moved out before I was born so my parents had her bring me up. My sister raised me like her own child, feeding and looking after me like a normal loving parent. Eight months ago I lost my family to a Russian navel attack so I’ve been supporting myself ever since. I handled the loss of my family better than most people which was not surprising since I was always a strong character but I will admit it did change me. It was what lead me to make the choices I made, and now I realise that it was all really for the better. I can’t imagine how things would have gone if they had survived those attacks...
