"C'mon then! Let's see what you've got!" Lash swung his morningstar down onto Twilight and her friends, who leapt out of the way as the spiked ball formed a small crater upon impact with the ground. He yanked it back out, twirling it around to not only build up momentum, but also to shake off the pieces of dirt that he had collected with his attack. "The king was disappointed in you. So let's see if you're not so much as a wimp as he makes you out to be!"

Twilight flapped her wings and flew into the air, out of Lash's reach. She swooped down on him and fired spells at the ground. She knew that she wouldn't be able to make a direct attack to her enemy, but that she could still cast magic on the world around her. She cut a line with her magic and fired a bolt once more, causing a fissure to open up.

"Graaaggghhh!" Lash was taken off-guard as he stumbled into the fissure. As the ground ripped apart beneath him, he grabbed onto the edge and climbed out, seconds before the crack began to fix itself. "Clever little bugger, ain't 'cha?" He gnashed his teeth and charged towards Twilight, striking the ground with his morningstar once more.

Twilight groaned and flew back down to her Yo-kai team, who moved in to attack Lash.

"No-one threatens Twilight like that!" Gargaros leapt towards Lash and swung his club down hard on him. He struck him square on the head, causing the Dark Yo-kai to stumble backwards and drop his morningstar. "Dark Yo-kai like you should just go away!" He performed a horizontal strike, knocking Lash into a building.

"Nice one, Gargaros!" Twilight exclaimed and ran towards Lash. "Everyone! Follow me!"

Ray O' Light and Drizzelda followed closely behind Twilight, with Buchinyan and Darumacho by Twilight's side. Venoct and Kyubi led the charge, hovering just above Twilight and her team.

"We have no time to waste!" Venoct called to Twilight and dashed towards Lash, his dragon scarf bearing its' fangs for an attack. "Orochi! Slay this vile cur!" He jabbed his finger, causing Orochi to roar and stretch over to Lash, biting down on him as fast as it could.

"Burn, you worthless underling of King Void!" Kyubi conjured fire with her hands and fired a torrent of it when she thrust both of her claws towards Lash. "I swear under Queen Ephemer's name, you will not live to see another day!"

"Queen Ephemer?" Twilight took notice of the name and shook her head, trying her best to focus on her battle with Lash. "No. Save Equestria first, ask questions later."

"Have at you!" Lash raised his morningstar high into the air, causing lightning to fire out of each of the spikes. "Electric Lash!" He swung his weapon at the Yo-kai striking lightning down on all of them, knocking them away.

"Darling!" Ray O' Light watched Drizzelda get knocked away before he too was blasted by Lash's attack.

"Hey! No-one does that to my friend's friends!" Pinkie Pie ran towards Lash and leapt up high into the air. She bounced on his head and stomped on it rapidly. "You meanie-beanies should just go away if you're gonna be mean like that!"

"Looks like I got me a new toy." Lash grabbed onto Pinkie Pie and squeezed her tightly, watching her eyes bulge out. "Let's see just how far those eyes come out before they go pop!"

"Get off her!" Rainbow Dash flew towards Lash and kicked him square in the eye, knocking him back and dropping Pinkie Pie as he was sent hurtling through the streets, destroying market stalls as he landed.

"You're mine!" Gargaros ran up to Lash and was about to swing his club at him, when all of a sudden, it was ripped out of his hands when his opponent coiled his morningstar around it and yanked it away. "What?!"

"Try this on for size, ya big palooka!" Lash swung both his morningstar and Gargaros's club at the Oni as viciously as he could, striking his target with a combo comprising of enough hits to send Gargaros flying. "YOU'RE DONE!" With a final swing of both his weapons, Gargaros was swatted away into a mountain, far away from Twilight and her friends.

"No way..." Twilight grimaced at Gargaros's defeat. "An Oni slain effortlessly by Lash. If one of his minions is that strong, then I shudder to think what King Void can actually do when he's angry."

"Then what are we waiting for?!" Starlight cast some spells of her own, baiting Lash to attack her instead of the Yo-kai. She evaded all of his attacks without breaking a sweat and returned to Twilight once she had worn him down. "Take out that Lash guy and end this! We can't let him hurt anyone else!"

"But he's swatting away the Yo-kai we have effortlessly." Twilight pointed out as Darumacho and Buchinyan took another attack that knocked them into each other. "None of our spells can do anything against him, and even with Venoct and Kyubi's help, it's still an incredibly tough battle."

"Gyaaahhh!" Lash slammed the ground, causing spikes to erupt that nearly impaled Twilight and her friends, but did massive damage to the Yo-kai that she had befriended. "C'mon! Is that really all you got?! Fight me! Let me see the darkness within you!"

"Octo Snake!" Venoct rushed over and bit into Lash repeatedly with Orochi.

"Inferno!" Kyubi hurled a massive fireball at him, coating him in the orange and yellow flames.

Lash staggered at both attacks, but he was still going. He breathed heavily and gnashed his teeth, his eyes turning complete red as a dark aura enveloped him. The more that he stood firmly in place, the more that the world around him began to shake. He arched his neck skyward and roared, as a massive black lightning bolt crashed down on him and gave him a black aura that glowed vigorously.

"Now you're in for it, little foals!" He roared and gathered black energy. "Dark Soultimate Charge!"

"Team! Cancel that Soultimate now!" Twilight charged towards Lash and attempted to poke him with her horn and cast another magical bolt on him, only to discover that she went right through him. She grinded herself to a halt and looked at his back, seeing the same sigil that King Void had been wearing on his cloak, with a few spikes pointing out of his neck.

The Yo-kai that Twilight had instructed to fight managed to hit Lash, but it wasn't enough to break his concentration as he continued to take in dark energy for his Soultimate. They frantically unloaded everything that they could on him, but it was far too late as his eyes shone a brighter shade of red.

"FATAL THRASHING!" Lash roared and swung his morningstar so fast that it created a hurricane around him, pulling in everyone and everything in the town. Everything that was sucked into the vortex got struck with hundreds of strikes from invisible swords or shockwaves that were sent out from his morningstar.

"Starlight! Get everyone out of here!" Twilight was fighting against the wind as she used her magic to teleport beside her friend. "Yo-kai casualties are alright, but don't let anypony suffer because we tried to save them!"

"Hey!" Buchinyan called out as he was pulled into the hurricane a split second afterward.

Starlight nodded and used a spell in conjunction with Twilight. With it, they managed to quickly teleport each and every pony in Ponyville away to somewhere safe while the battle raged on. After a while of saving ponies from Lash's attack, they felt their wings finally give out from exhaustion, which yanked them into Lash's Soultimate.

"IT'S ALL OVER NOW!" Lash jumped up high with everything in his grasp and swung his morningstar down hard onto the town. All of the items, Yo-kai, housing, nature, and ponies that he had ensnared with his attack were sent towards the ground like bullets out of a gun.

Twilight and her friends simply blacked out as they collided with the ground. Lash's attack was so strong that they failed to find the strength to open her eyes, stand up, or fight back.

"Where am I?" Twilight asked, waking up in a plane of nothingness. She couldn't feel the ground beneath her, see anything for miles, and even her breath became cold and shallow as she tried to make out her surroundings. "Hello? Anyone? Whisper? Jibanyan? Girls?"

She flapped her wings forward to progress through the realm of darkness, hoping that she would be able to find someone or something within the lightless void. To her dismay, however, she found absolutely nothing. She tried to use her magic to illuminate the world around her, but that also uncovered nothing.

"Oh no..." Twilight flew faster through the darkness. "Someone? Anyone? HEY! WHERE ARE YOU?!"

"Poor little Twilight. She thinks she can win against the forces of darkness..."

"Who are you?" Twilight looked around, stopping in midair when she heard the voice. "And why in the world do you sound like me? What's going on?"

"Against the might of his majesty, King Void, little does she know that she too has a darkness that can be exploited," the soundalike of Twilight echoed through the void. "It consumed her human counterpart, and now it shall devour her pony self as well. Such a tragedy that the very Yo-kai that she looked up to will now have to look up to a demon as their best friend."

"No. I'm nothing like you! And I never will be!" Twilight fought back tears and shouted at the voice.

"Do you think so?" said the doppelganger. "We'll get to that in time. I'm sure you can reacquaint me with your little human world friends, right, Twilight Sparkle?"

All of a sudden, Twilight saw a cyan mask appear in front of her, with a horn of the same colour forming. Then came a pair of black raven-esque wings, and finally, a monstrous version of her human self appeared before her, letting out an ear-piercing laugh.

"You!" Twilight pointed at the monster. "Sunset told me all about you! You're... Midnight Sparkle, right?"

"A rather odd name for a monster, but one they chose for me anyway." Midnight licked her lips and flew over to Twilight. "I am living proff that even a horse like you is not safe from the darkness. Sooner or later, you'll have to give in to your tendencies to hurt, kill, and destroy, just like the Dark Yo-kai do!"

"Never! I'm not like you!" Twilight shouted back.

"Oh, but you are." Midnight sat on Twilight's back and rode her like a real horse. "And soon, you'll have to learn that all ponies need a rider." She slapped Twilight's flanks. "GIDDYUP, TWILIGHT SPARKLE!"

"NOOOOOOOO!" Twilight screamed and flew away into the darkness, with Midnight riding her all the way.

"Looks like our little blighters are out for the count." Lash chuckled and stood over Twilight's body. "Shame. The king would've loved to see you progress. Guess it's time I give him the bad news!" He raised his weapon high once again.

"Don't. You. Dare." Twilight hissed, her voice becoming venomous. She teleported away from the crater and appeared behind Lash, just as he was bringing his morningstar down. "Time to die!" She snarled, her eyes now entirely blue with purple irises.

Twilight's horn was now leaking dark magic, as Midnight's mask appeared around her eyes. With a roar, she fired a black bolt with a purple outline at Lash, striking him clean in the face and knocking him back, leaving him with a wide scar.

"There it is." Lash grinned when he recovered and banged his chest with his hands. "Come on, then! Have at me! Let the darkness consume you, and prove that King Void's way is superior!"

"You're going to choke on those words, Lash!" Twilight sniggered and conjured multiple orbs of black and blue energy, hurling them all at him. "Suffer! Bleed! Die!" She cackled as Lash took every attack she sent his way. "You're making this far too easy! Give me a challenge!"

"On the contrary, Midnight. Show me more!" Lash smiled wider still. "Destroy me! Ruin Twilight Sparkle's name forever!"

"I'll do far much more than that." She gathered up as much dark energy as she could, creating a massive black and purple globe above the entire town. She closed her eyes and bared her teeth at Lash until she had enough energy to suit her needs. "I'll make sure she'll never be able to show her face on this miserable planet ever again!"

The rest of Twilight's friends came to and looked up at the sky. The once clear skies had now been blotted out by darkness. The globe of energy that Twilight had created was spitting black lightning bolts in all directions, destroying whatever it touched.

"Twilight?" Buchinyan looked up and saw what Twilight had become.

"No. That's not her." Venoct landed by the other ponies. "Something inside of Twilight has consumed her, turning her into a monster. This is what King Void wanted to see out of her."

"King Void thrives off of toying with his opponents." Kyubi nodded. "He breaks them down and exposes the inner evil within them. Whatever monstrous demon might be in control of Twilight Sparkle, it's winning the internal conflict with her, and it won't stop until Lash is butchered like a fine ham."

"So what now?!" Rainbow Dash spluttered. "Are we just going to let Twilight fall to darkness?!"

"No." Venoct turned towards the girls. "But I will say that you should all duck for cover immediately."

"Follow us, ponies." Kyubi ran off with Venoct. "We've got a good place for you to withstand the blast."

The Main Six, Starlight, and Red Snow all followed Venoct and Kyubi as the globe now encompassed the entire sky, swallowing up what remained of the clouds and sun in seconds after they began to run.

"I'LL WIPE YOU FROM THE FACE OF EXISTENCE!" Twilight roared and threw down the globe onto Ponyville, devouring Lash whole. She heard nothing but the sound of destruction and explosions when the orb collided with the earth.

"To die to the forces of evil is truly a valiant sacrifice indeed." Lash stood tall and performed a salute. He slid his fingers across his neck, punched his hand, and stomped hard on the ground. "Glory to King Void! Glory to you, Midnight Sparkle! Glory TO DARKNESS!" He cheered as his body began to dissolve and dissipate.

"What the actual buck are you, Twilight Sparkle?" Starlight Glimmer saw the waves of darkness fly off from the shelter that she and the others were tucked under. "I mean, I know I messed with time before, but seeing this from someone like you is something I've never seen before..."

When the dust finally settled, Twilight landed on the ground breathing heavily. She snarled with each breath, as if she wanted more of a fight to test out her powers. The mask around her eyes vanished and her eyes themselves returned to normal. She looked around and saw ponies peak out of their ruined houses and from holes, looking at her with expressions that she had never seen before. For once in their life, the ponies of Ponyville were terrified of Twilight and her power.

"What?" Twilight looked down at her hooves, which were now trembling in the rays of the sunlight. She looked around at all of the destruction that she had caused under Midnight's control and gasped, putting a hoof to her mouth. "Oh no..."
