Dash 'Em Up ➳ A SoarinDash Story
Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Asking Her Out
Load Full Story Next ChapterSoarin uneasily glanced up at the grotty mirror in the colt's bathroom for the umpteenth time now. He had to be ready. He was going to do it. Ask Rainbow Dash on a date[./i] Soarin occasionally squirted a blob of gel in his mane with his wing, and pulled his blue hair back, looking slick and glossy. He tightened the crimson bow around his neck and stared at himself for the last time. Soarin burst out of the room, strutting down the hallway, past the lockers and groups of ponies.
"Oooooh! I wonder who the lucky filly is," squealed Blossomforth, holding a hoof up to her heart.
"Perhaps it's Spitfire?" suggested Clear Skies, fake fainting as the handsome stallion strolled past her. Unfortunately, he walked right past Spitfire, not even taking notice of her. He eventually stopped at--
"--Rainbow Dash?!" hissed Flitter, narrowing her her eyebrows. "How?!".
Soarin nervously shifted his eyes, opening his mouth to speak, but he was cut off by Rainbow Dash, who was standing beside her cousin Fluttershy.
"Oh, hey Soarin! Why're you all dressed up? Who's the lucky filly?" she joked, laughing. Soarin didn't laugh. He stared deeply into Rainbow's magenta eyes like they were hypnotising him.
"Rainbow Jennifer Danger Dash, will you go on a date with me?" implored Soarin. He held his breath, waiting for an answer. Everypony in the hall gasped. Rainbow Dash gasped, holding her mouth wide open. He was expecting, "No, I'm sorry, but I don't like you that way," but instead he heard...
"I--I...uh, wow this is quick... Yes, Soarin! I'd hate to leaving you hanging," she cried, launching herself onto Soarin, embracing a tearful hug. Some ponies clapped while some other frowned and trotted off in a sulk. "I guess I'm not single anymore," smiled Rainbow, nuzzling Soarin.
"Neither am I," replied Soarin. The pair happily trotted off to the last class of the day, while Fluttershy hung behind to grab her books out from her locker. Once they arrived at the laboratory for Chemistry class, Soarin politely held the door open for his new marefriend.
Rainbow glanced up at him and smiled. "Thanks, Soar," she said, walking through.
"Anything for my favourite mare," muttered Soarin, slowly grinning to himself. He was lost in thoughts about important 'things' when he was cut off by Rainbow Dash.
"Sweet talker, much? We've only been sorta together for 10 minutes!" prompted Dash, pulling on a lab coat and goggles, and taking a seat. Soarin did the same and took a seat next to Rainbow Dash.
"I'm just being nice," he mumbled. "How about I take you out this Saturday? Give us three days to tell our parents,".
"I'd like that," smiled Rainbow. The rest of the class came rushing into the class, taking their own seats. She was about to speak but Ms. Fleeterfly cut her off.
"Afternoon, Class. Today we will be doing some chemical experiments, so I am allowing you to do what ever you want, but I have my rules,". Ms. Fleeterfly booped a button on the Smart whiteboard and it flashed, showing all of the teacher's top rules.
No drinking or eating food OR chemicals.
No pouring chemicals onto ponies or anything else.
No using chemicals without permission.
Listen to the teacher at all times.
Nothing dangerous, play it safe unless you know what you are doing.
Have fun!
"Begin!".
Soarin flew off his seat and darted towards the small test tubes. He picked up two glass tubes with liquid (he couldn't pronounce the names) with his wings and set them on the table. Rainbow poured them both into a large plastic cylinder...BANG!
Everypony stared at the pair, who were covered with black soot. Rainbow Dash was in utter amazement, while Soarin just sat there, unable to comprehend what just happened.
"T-that was AWESOME!" clamoured Rainbow, a huge grin on her face.
"Ack!" shrieked Soarin, coughing up black dust. She brushed himself off and they galloped off to the bathrooms to clean up. They both went to the disabled shower room, that had no gender sticker on the front. Rainbow turned on the tap and stepped under the warm shower. The soot washed off her coat and hair and she smiled at Soarin.
Damn she thought. Soarin looks hella hot in the shower, Sweet Celestia!
Once they were finished in the showers, they stood under the dryers. The cold air slammed down on both of them, making Rainbow's hair fly in random place. They flew out and back to the lab. On the way there, Soarin noticed a bit of Rainbow's hair was sticking out in the most random position ever. He slowly brushed it back into the proper style.
"Thanks," giggled Rainbow. "Race you to the lab?".
"Oh, you're on!".
The pair zoomed at full speed down the corridors, neck-and-neck. At last, they arrived at the door to the lab, resting against the wall.
"I obviously won," breathed Rainbow, gasping for air.
"No, I won!" moaned Soarin, nudging Rainbow.
"Whatever, I still won," she whispered. She walked in to see that the class was finished! "I guess school's over then. I've gotta tell my parents, come on!".
Rainbow tugged on Soarin and dragged him all the way to her cloud mansion of a house. She barged through the doors, and Soarin stood up straight.
"Hi, mom. Hi, dad," said Rainbow, nervously. She pulled Soarin and sat on the cloud couch.
"Hi, Dashie. Who's this?" asked Firefly, looking at Soarin, puzzled. Perhaps that's her boyfriend?! They're so cute together!
"Well, Mom--".
"I know you!" cried Spectrum. "You were at the Wonderbolts Trials! I'm Spectrum, a real Wonderbolt if I must say,".
Soarin's eyes widened. "Your dad's Spectrum Dash?! The Wonderbolt?!" he hissed.
Rainbow nodded her head. "WELL, Mom and Dad, meet my... alomst-boyfriend,".
"I called it!" gasped Firefly. She jumped up to her daughter and Soarin and embraced them in a hug. "You guys are adorable!".
"Oh, erm thanks, Mom," muttered Rainbow, blushing.
"R-rainbow Dash? My little filly is growing up! I can't believe it. You'll stay my little girl, right?!" demanded Spectrum, his face going straight.
"Dad!" moaned Rainbow. "I'm not little anymore! I'm growing up!".
"Hmm..." sighed Spectrum. He got up and walked to the kitchen.
"Mrs. Firefly, does your husband approve of us being together?" enquired Soarin, doing his best to ask smart.
"Please, just call me Firefly! Nothing fancy, I insist. Rainbow's father has always been protective. Just, a bit too much, but he's reason with you. Now, run along, crazy kids! Haha, go have fun!".
Rainbow nervously laughed and left the house with Soarin.
"Sorry about my parents. My mom is so embarrassing and my dad is a control freak," sighed Dash, and she flew slightly about the ground.
"You're lucky! At least your parents don't forget about you. My mom is constantly off at her office job at the Rainbow Factory and barely has any time for me. I called her office phone the other day and she said 'Soarin who?'".
"Ouch. Then leave a note,".
"Nah, it's not like she'll read it. She only comes home to drop off bits for me or to get any documents she left at home. Let's hang out at mines,".
Soarin led Rainbow to a normal sized cottage, nowhere near as big as Rainbow's house. They sat on the couch and Soarin switched on the T.V.
"You hungry? I've got...a half eaten daffodil burger and stale hayfries," sighed Soarin. He had completely no food.
"Nah. Not peckish... Where are you taking me on Saturday?".
"It's a surprise!" squealed Soarin, clapping his hooves.
Rainbow huffed, "I hate surprises,".
