Harmony's Champion
Chapter 9: Changes of circumstance
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"What are you doing here?" I asked the changeling I held at blade edge, the edge glowing green. When he didn't reply, I pressed the blade closer to his throat. "Answer, or I'll gut you."
As I pressed the blade closed, drawing blood, the changeling spoke. "P-please don't kill me."
"Why not?"
"Because I just wanted some food," the changeling replied. "And I'm not the best at hunting. I heard that there was something living in this forest that was skilled enough to kill a manticore. Please, don't kill me!"
"Why is it just you, here?"
"I was exiled," the changeling said in a panic, making me lessen but not remove the pressure of the blade on his throat. "Please, I just want some food. I'll leave as soon as I eat, or now, if you don't want to!"
"Two things," I said. "One: don't scream, we are still close enough to Ponyville for any pony near the edge of the forest. Two," I said as I released the blade from his throat, and placed it on my back, "eat what you can, and stay for however long you want. Only reason I'm alive are my weapons and some magic bullshit."
I could easily remove the charm keeping the wildlife from attacking you.
Shut it, Harmony. Besides, I'd rather not explain you to anyone right now.
The changeling looked at me in surprise. "B-but I'm a changeling."
"So?" I said. "I'm not a racist like most ponies. Besides, I haven't even been talking with you long enough to say I like you or not. With that, I got up, and offered him a hand up. "So, what's your name?"
He took the hand, still looking slightly surprised, and, as I helped him up, said, "Green Mist. It's a rare name style, most are named after insect related stuff."
"Noted," I said. "Name's Excalibur. My kind is named after the suits we wear."
Mist chuckled. "Weird, but I'm not one to say."
"Yeah, well, can't fix that," I said. "Stay as long as you want. I'm not in a rush."
"Thanks," Mist said. "You, uh, got a fire?"
"Nope," I said. "Helmet allows for enhanced sight in the dark, but I was getting ready to sleep when I saw you. Only get one going for cooking."
"Good thing I know a fire spell, then," he said. "And night vision, too." With that, his horn lit up, and the small fire pit I had made lit up with green flames, revealing both of us without the usual night vision filter, which showed that Green Mist was wearing a ragged, holed shirt, along with uneven shorts, the left going past his knee, the right just above his knee, both sides having holes in various places.
"I'm guessing you were exiled a while ago," I said.
"Yeah," Mist said. "Just before the Manehattan massacre a few weeks back. Got caught bringing my marefriend, one of the few ponies who know changelings are real, most think we're myths, and of the fewer who aren't afraid of us into the Hive."
"Strict rules?" I asked as we sat down on opposite sides of the fire pit.
"Yeah," Mist said. "Our queen, as well as most changeling rulers, see ponies as nothing more than food, something that is impossible to be in a relationship with." He shuddered. "The few times a pony was found, male or female, they were always taken to the cells, and went to be food providers for the hive."
"Well," I said. "Where's your hive at?"
"Near the middle of the Everfree," Mist said, a little confused. "Why?"
"Because," I said as I stood up. "Your kind feeds on love, right? Well, if any ponies captured are turned into food providers, three possibilities: the first is they've been mind fucked. Second: they went there willingly to help the hives to not starve. Third is that they are being raped. I hate the first and last options, so, on my word I won't kill the hive, I will go there, free those that fall under those categories, and leave those under the second, if there are any."
"B-but what about me?"
"You got enough energy to change?" I asked.
"Yeah," he replied.
I nodded. "Go north east from here until you see a hut that looks as if it was a part of a tree. In it lives a zebra. Tell her that the sword sent you, and she'll let you stay there until you want to leave. Alternatively, to the southeast, there's a town of ponies. I have a background for you if you want it so you can live there."
"How?"
I shrugged. "In case I come across some artifact that lets me become a pony," I lied. It was really my OC. "So, which option? And before you ask, the ponies are friendly-" to other ponies and few others- "and, so long as you stay in disguise, you should be alright."
He sighed. "Will you tell my marefriend if I choose the second?"
"Yeah, I will," I said. "Can you give me her name and description so I can get her out?"
"Right," Mist said, sighing again. "But give me that background first, and a look to go with it."
Next Chapter: Freelance-Rescue Estimated time remaining: 3 Hours, 20 MinutesAuthor's Notes:
All frame's for the mane six are selected except for Fluttershy's, who I can not decide between Trinity(do I need to explain why?) and Valkyr(like Fluttershy, can't take much of a punch, relatively speaking to most frames, but when she is pissed, you had best run.) For those who don't play Warframe, Trinity is essentially the medic, while Valkyr is the beserker archetype, though with a bit of lion inspiration with her ability, as one of her powers gives her invincibility for a while, and a huge damage boost. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I'll take those into consideration, but the final decision will be will be up to me.
