Your Beautiful Wonky Eyes
Chapter 44: 37) Second thoughts
Previous Chapter Next ChapterShard sighed as he packed his bags, his father watching him with folded arms, his mother and sister watching with worry. Shards expression was emotionless, he didn't look to anyone in the room, he just kept his attention on packing his things into his bags, his room almost completely bare, with all of his collectables and games placed in a large box in their attic. As Shard placed his last shirt into a bag he closed it and threw it over his shoulder, with his multiple swords holstered on the other. He walked passed his family without saying a word, Rayleigh following behind him quietly.
Once outside the house, he placed the last bag and swords into the trunk of his car. "Master Shard, please say something." Rayleigh begged as he watched his creator open the passenger seat door.
"Are you sure you wouldn't rather stay here with them?" Shard asked without emotion.
"I'm completely sure! My loyalties are to you and you alone, yes I will help anyone if it is asked, but I am bound to you as my creator, and shall follow you to the gates of hell if I must!" Rayleigh stated proudly.
Shard just nodded and held the door for his robot companion, who floated into the car and formed into his ball on the seat. After closing the door he walked over to the drivers side and was about to enter and drive off, but his little sister ran out and hugged him.
"Bro please don't leave!" She cried as she clung to him.
Shard sighed and hugged his little sister. "I'm sorry Ruby, but I have to do this...you know why I have to." He spike with a hint of regret in his voice.
"'When a male kisses a female from outside the family on the lips, he vows to protect her and look out for her best interests. If they don't they are disowned by the family and brought eternal shame.' He knows this rule well, but he has brought the one he vowed to protect fear and emotional harm." Their father spoke as he stepped out of the house, with Aquamarine following behind.
"You of all people should know Shard would never hurt Ditzy! This is just some big misunderstanding!" Ruby cried out as she let go of her brother and turned to her parents, tears in her eyes.
"Ruby sweetie, please calm down." Aquamarine begged as she opened her arms to try and embrace her daughter.
"You're just going along with this?!" Ruby demanded angrily. "You're the one who's a descendant of the family, not dad! You're the one who's supposed to uphold all of this, not him! He just married in! He can't do that!"
Shards father went to slap Ruby, but stopped as Shard pointed the tip of his blade to his neck. "If you so much as touch her in an unloving way I will cast any morals I have aside and skin you alive, now put, the hand, down." He instructed with a stern tone, his hair flickering for a second.
Shards father slowly put his hand back to his side. "Very well..." He sighed and turned away. "I'm sorry son...but you know your mother would never make you do this...I have to, for her sake nad for the sake of the family."
Shard was about to say he understood, but paused. He stood with his eyes closed for a few moments before sheathing his blade and glaring. "You know what? Forget it, I'm done with all of this." He said quietly before getting into his car and starting the engine. Ruby cried out for him while Aquamarine held her back with a heartbroken expression.
"Severed, you're just going to let him go after saying that?" She asked her husband.
Severed sighed and turned back to walk into the house. "I can't stop him. If he wants to leave the family name for good that's his own choice."
Shards engine roared as he pulled out of the driveway and sped off down the street, disappearing around a corner.
Later that evening
As the sun set over the horizon, Shard walked with pieces of his armour plates on his arms and legs, a duffle bag slung over his shoulder filled with weapons and other things he'd need over in Ireland that wouldn't be provided for him. He walked towards the airfield emotionlessly, jumping the gate and looking around for Mise, who had requested him there. Further down on the main runway, he spotted a figure standing there by a lit flare lying on the ground.
Shard was waved over as he got closer, being close enough to see Mise's face. "Thank you for coming."
"Don't thank me for this, I'm just keeping a promise." Shard responded flatly as he set his bag down. "Is anyone else coming?"
"No, the guys that were originally supposed to come had to stay, they have their own stuff to deal with. I can tell you do too..."
Shard shook his head. "I need time away, might as well vent any lust for combat while I'm there." He replied as he looked to the kunai knife in his hand.
"Alright, the chopper should be here soon to take us to Dublin, after that we'll be heading to our current base of operations. You have to listen to my orders when we're there, understood?"
Shard gave a half asses salute. "Aye aye cap-i-ton."
Mise rolled his eyes as he stared up at the sky. "Alright, here they come."
The two stepped away from the flare and allowed the helicopter to land close to them. One of the two pilots leaned out and gave Mise a salute. "Sir, ready to go when you are."
Shard threw his bag into the chopper and climbed in, as he sat down he saw Mise freeze up with his hand on the side of the aircraft. "Mise, come on, let's go."
Mise looked around, unsure of himself. "Sir, are you ok?" The pilots asked in concern.
Mise took a small step back and sighed. "I can't do this..."
