Chapter 54: A talk
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"You used to always have your nose in a book...funny how things can change."
Her voice like that of a a lost but smiling soul, Celestia bowed her head and ducked to step into the Dazzle Garage. A hair strewn gaze watched her only child from where bare bronzed feet touched cement floor. The wooden steps from the door, more then happy to be free of the fertility goddess shaped female.
"Yup..."
The response from Sunset only made the fear in Celestia's chest grow tighter. Yes, she had pushed her Daughter away in Equestria. Years of taken duty of the land and its people over her own child. But it was for the little Filly's good, that is what Celestia always told herself every time she had to look into those teal eyes of her only Foal as they went from shock, to tears, to rage, whenever her Mother was to cancel on a date or event set. Taken a shallow breath, her heavy bosom rising and lowering in again toga clad garment, the Goddess of the Sun stepped fully into the Garage.
Taken a moment to steal her gaze from the door frame leaning figure of her child, Celestia took in what her offspring had built in all these years in the human world. The center of the oil and what smelled of not only sweat and alcohol, but also blood stained concrete floor, was a machine that had her rather flabbergasted. Luna and her had made several trips to the human realm over the many century's of they're youths and then adult hoods. The ill matter of her Sister forced residence too the moon had halted such endeavors. But one of the final adventures the growing Alicorn Fillies had taken, had shown Human kinds creation of the auto mobile. If that wasn't memory enough, the dozen or so accidents she, Twilight and Luna had caused in the scene of three ill dressed females nearly bursting from there garments and standing in amazon heights prancing across streets on the way to her Daughters home wasnt enough....this sight sure was. Celestia dare not approach the motorcycle. Unlike its much smaller kin she had witnessed on her way here the other day, this thing was truly a beast. Casting her gaze to her Daughter, Celestia sighed and opened her mouth to speak, thought better of it and instead looked to the wall of mounted tools.
"She won't bite..."
"Are you sure about that my little bird?"
Sunset nearly choked on her third beer. The cool rush that was dulling the pain in her very soul, suddenly heated in a flood of nostalgia. She had not been called that since...
"Don't call me that..."
Having reached to run her finger over childish drawing. The picture made in crayon and smeered in finger paint showing three figures, one small in the center of a larger to the right, then a much larger one to the left. The word "Home" was spelled wrong and the three figures had silly smiley faces. But Celestia knew a childs work of love when she seen it. Careful not to disturb the carefully mounted and framed piece of art, the lady of the light turned back to her brooding Daughter and forced a weak smile.
"Sunset..."
"I am NOT...kidding..."
With the raising of her voice, a half full can of beer was hurled across the room, smashing into the door that connected to the house. With a soft breath, Celestia dared a few paces towards her child.
"You forgave me last night. You where willing to accept me back into your life. Why do you stand so broken now? If you would take such a burden off both our hearts, let me help you!"
Snorting and crossing her powerful arms beneath her bosom, the tomboy growled and glared out into the early morning sun.
"What? No speech? No rambling about "what I have become?". "Oh Sunset you have forgoteen every lesson I taught you about being a lady, the use of magic.." blah blah blah. You know what I have discovered Mother?"
Stopping a body lengths, or at least, a normal humans length, away from her Daughter, the Sun goddess took a deep breath and adopted a submissive pose, her eyes down.
"Do tell, my little bird."
Grinding her teeth at the name, Sunset let it go with a loud sigh. The stink of her breath full of drink, yet clear in her gaze she was herself. Turning and looking slightly down at her Mother, the fiery haired Alpha lifted her left hand. The worn palm, covered in scars and callouses was shown.
"This, in the human world. Is magic."
Blinking and looking on, Celestia kept her thoughts to herself.
"The humans of this world may not have horns, wings, or the ability to use Magic as we know it. But they have the ability to create, craft, and hold they're children closer then we ever could a foal. THIS..."
She stretched out her hand further.
"This made my life here. This gave me friends. THIS gave me my FAMILY. My home, my way of supporting them, this place, everything!!!! This is true magic..."
The hand closed to form a vein churned fist.
"And this...is power."
"Like the power of the Rule of Three?"
Celestia bit the bullet and stabbed her gaze right into her Daughters. She watched the sense of confidence, rocked out of her childs vision. Taken a long hard stride she swallowed the off guard form of her only Foal into an all consuming hug, her voice only a whisper to the bronzed ear of her child.
"You used to live in books. Science, magic, history...have you forgotten it all? You would sit with me for hours, asking about the ancient race known as the sirens. About the rumors of a group of them lost to time and space. I would humor you, and tell you fond tales...but you pushed..your mind was so sharp. It IS so sharp....I told you then of the Rule..."
"...And I shall tell you now."
Mother and Daughter spun in there long since forgotten embrace to stare at the form of Adagio Dazzle. The Alpha, the mate, and wife to Sunset stood at the top of the stairs that lead from the home. She stood with eyes soft, but posture ridged and with great pride. Her mane of orange curls, bucking about her in the morning breeze like a cloak. She had eyes on them both, but only for one. Ruby met sky teal, as the two lovers shared a strong look.
"If you would be so kind...Mom...your Daughter and I need to talk."
