The song of summer
Chapter 16: A night ment for three
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Mlove?"
"Yah babe, it's just me..."
Having jerked from her seat at the tiny master bedroom window, Adagio shifted the small bundle that was her and Sunset's daughter in her arms. Moving as fast as the tenderly snoozing child in her arms would allow, the smaller of the duo made a b-line for her wife.
"Are you ok? How is Aria? She was a drunken mess wasn't she, did she hurt you? Where is she?!"
"Shh shh shh, woah love, woah. Take it easy! Your bruiser of a sibling is just fine, ya she had a few pints in her but is down stairs in her room with Sonata right now. Heh, that damn bean pole always had a way with calming the purple grump down...hey..., Dagi?"
Seeing the sheer terror and unresolved sadness in her mates eyes, the biker promptly tossed her leather jacket down and swallowed her wife and child up in her warm embrace.
"It's ok now, everything is going to go right back to normal. Our family is all here, our pack is safe love. Please, don't cry."
"How...how can I not."
The two Mothers whispered they're words of desperation over the sleeping form of Sunray.
"Before you, before little Rayray, my Sisters where all I had to keep going on this Celestia cursed rock of a world! I know ok, I am an arrogant, manipulative bitch. Sonata a brain dead pig and Aria no better then a street thug. I know all of that, but...but things are different now. My little one is going to be a wife! She and Rarity, are going to be wed this spring and I have never been so proud of that lump headed simpleton...I am so proud of her Sunny."
"Of course love, you should be! But just imagine how she is of you? Do you not see the way she looks at little Sunray. She just wants to go running, playing, jumping and screaming in the day light with her, she can't wait for her to get older so she can be the best Auntie she can be...She envys you Adagio, hehe, come now, part of you must love that feeling?"
A dark smirk played her tear stained lips for a moment, but only a moment. Leaning back into the hefty bosom of her mate, the cloak like mane of Adagio Dazzle covering them both.
"There is...but Aria."
"Dagi, listen to me."
Turning her wife in her arms, Sunset pulled her to sit at the foot of they're bed. Her bronzed fingers danced along the sunlight yellow tuft of hair upon there daughters head as she spoke.
"I understand her now. When I first actually had a conversation with Aria Blaze, your Sister, and even at that time I was falling for you...I disliked her. We where young and she had no where near the amount of bad habits she has now, but even then. How she leaned on EVERYTHING, always had her arms crossed protecting herself and looked at everyone like a piece of meat, just..disturbed me. You and Sonata where so much different then her. But what I said earlier still holds true, now more then ever after I spoke with her this evening. Love, listen."
"If we are a family, which we are, we are thus a pack. And every pack has an Alpha couple, correct? We, you and I know our role, but Aria never knew her's. She really was sorta the family guard dog. She took up a profession here that would keep her skills sharp. She doesn't fight because she likes it, she does it for US! But she is more then a dog, I seen that tonight. She spoke of a human, a human male no less in a fashion of someone who had true emotion and needs of her own. Adagio, my love, my sweet voice goddess of the sea. Your Sisters are the most dear thing in your heart. They are you home and family, just like little Rayray and I are to you as well. Sonata has moved on, she no longer needs you to guide her, or Aria to guard her. We have to let that damn pit fighter grow now too."
"We...we have been selfish with her. Part of me feels our relationship, then marriage and then your pregnancy and the coming of Sunray, forced her to keep on guard at all times. Watching and protecting us...no wonder she turned to the bottle so hard."
Soothing her wife's frowning face with a gentle kiss on the cheek, Sunset spoke in her normal husky rasp once again.
"We did, and we have. I don't want a guard dog anymore Adagio. I want, a Beta female."
Adagio considered it for a moment, Sonata had made reference to Aria being Adagio's "Starscream" in the past, some joke from one of the women's silly cartoon shows. But Adagio generally got the meaning behind it. The beer gutted, muscle bound fighter, with her scar coverd flesh and wild six foot ponytails, had always been the next in line in Adagio's mind. But...
"You think she is ready? It..it would be best, with Sunray, you and I will only get more distracted and busy. The rest of the girls wont understand our lack of participation. She..she could lead them, after a fashion."
"She would be a fine leader, but it isn't like we are going anywhere. Besides, little Rayray...needs a mare-guard."
Blinking gently, the once Alpha siren looked down at the oddly mixed breed child she and Sunset had created.
"We had something similar in Siren society. A mare to watch out for the little one if we where to pass, humans refer to It as a God-mother I believe."
Snapping her fingers Sunset grinned, the sound drawing the duel eyed gaze of a now yawning Sunray.
"You got it babe, what you say?"
"Hmm, I believe our little one knows best. Rayray, sweetness...would you like Auntie Ari, to be your mare-guard?"
The baby looked up between her doting parents, her red and blue eyes blinking slowly, before flinging her chubby arms up and squealing loudly in joy.
Looking between one another, the mated pair shared a smile, then a kiss and embrace as the night turned to the first minute, of a new day.
Next Chapter: A good memory Estimated time remaining: 5 Hours, 26 MinutesAuthor's Notes:
And so ends "the Aria arch". Fear not, our favorite drunken fighter isn't going anywhere, hell, no one is gonna wanna live in that basement after her anyways!!!
The point of this last series of chapters was to tell a tale about one characters growth but also give massive detail to the main focus of the story (Sundagio) without just pointing at details, sorta a bounce ball effect.
I am pleased with it! But with...most...of the drama sidelined (poor Fluttershy, eh...greener pastures lay for our purple grump), we can get some baby times ah rolling...eeee!
