A little over two thousand years ago a devastating global war was fought against the progenitor of evil itself. Though Equestria and a rag tag group of dragons that Spike brought together managed to defeat the evil it came at great cost. Equestria was devastated on multiple fronts and quickly faded into obscurity while Spike fell to into a prolonged Slumber after his psyche was torn asunder at the conclusion of this war.
The rag tag group of dragons, which had formed into a clan, was forced to wait patiently for him to wake, waiting and hoping for their leader to awaken.
When Spike did finally wake the orphaned and only daughter of two of their members killed in the closing hours of the war was given into the care of the ponies to be hatched and raised as the clan was unable to. Now that orphaned child is returning the past that haunts the clan and Spike will come crashing down on them even as they now feel ready to build the future they had dreamed of long ago...
