Chapter 67: Act III, Blood Red Night Part 3: Fire And Lightning

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

In a battle,

all you need to make you fight is a little hot blood

and the knowledge that it's more dangerous to lose

than to win.

-George Benard Shaw

"Fire!" Beta hollered.

Alex dropped to the ground the exact instant he heard gunfire. He slammed his eyes shut with his hands clasped firmly around his ears. To his surprise, he felt nothing zip above him, no blood splattered on him whatsoever, none of that.

He looked up, curious as to what went wrong..

"Death to the Red Star!!" A whole crowd of about 500 charged in, wearing Coalition uniforms, guns ablaze.

The remaining huntsmen and huntresses swooped into action, the ponies found cover and fired whatever weapon they could find, and Vanoss and his crew pulled out rocket launchers and started making the already smoking mess of the Iliad into a barren wasteland.

So, pretty much the same, but on fire.

Yang flipped backwards, pulling Alex back on his feet.

"Did you seriously just duck when you heard shooting?!" Yang chided.

"Why didn't any of you?!" Alex retorted.

Yang blinked.

"Fair point." She shrugged.

"So, what the hell are we doing about this, now?" Alex asked.

Yang groaned.

"Beta and Sigma are going to tear the others apart if we don't do anything. Weiss, Jaune, and Nora, and Blake are attacking Beta. Leaving just me, Twilight, Ruby, and you to deal with Sigma." Yang explained.

"God dammit. Sorry, lost my train of thought." Alex face-palmed.

"Okay, then. I'll just do this, and..." Yang grasped Alex by the wrist.

"Wait, what the hell are you..?" Yang spun him around as Alex felt himself getting sick, he was barely hanging onto Electric Fury.

"Sword, now!" She demanded.

Alex converted the revolver into a sword yet again, once Yang noticed the transformation had been completed, she let go of him, Alex spinning like a top and barreling into Sigma.

Shockingly, the attack actually did damage, Sigma staggered backwards, the armor cracked and she was bleeding like crazy.

"You know, I was usually pretty reserved for a crime lord.. And then you came along." Sigma scowled.

"I was usually decently happy, and then you and your merry group of assholes came along. Isn't life a pain?" Alex retorted.

Sigma glared, lashing at Alex relentlessly, he managed to block or avoid the vicious attacks.

Ruby sped in from the left, catching Sigma in the side. Twilight then fired multiple attack spells at her wounds before Yang charged in, punching her with the force of a hundred cannons in the gut.

Sigma fell on her back, skidding backwards until colliding rather painfully with a tree.

She pulled herself up and hit herself a few times in the side, causing red blood to splatter on the snow-covers ground below.

"And she's still standing? What's next?! Is she going to be all like 'This isn't even my final form'?!" Alex's eye twitched out of a mix of fear and irritation.

"You watch way too much TV." His rival smirked mockingly.

"Where'd you get those, anyway? Another Anime convention?" He shot back.

"You talk a lot of shit for a Displaced."

"OKAY, THAT'S IT!!" Alex unsheathed Blitzklinge and clashed with Sigma again.

"The hell's a Displaced?" Yang wondered.

Alex swung both blades at Sigma's sides, only to have them blocked by her own. Alex then noticed a small, threatening orange sort of glyph on the ground.

"What the hell?!" Alex leaped backwards to evade the resulting explosion.

Sigma glared at him, a wicked smile spread across her face that just rubbed Alex the wrong way,

"By the way, I know all about what happened with Omega. It seems as though you've finally ascended. I'm almost proud."

"What the hell are you?" Alex backed up next to his friends.

"You're not the only one with that kind of power." Sigma glared, the edges of her eyes glowing a bright orange, as though they were aflame themselves.

"What is that?!" Twilight gasped.

"I've led you on all along, kid. Let you think you could actually beat me in a fair fight. I may know a lot of thieves, but the look on your face is priceless."

Alex gaped in horror, what the hell just happened?!

"You've heard the story of the Maidens, haven't you? Well, I had my associates help me siphon some of her powers to me, but someone severed the link before it could finish. So you are not merely fighting another huntress gone bad, you're fighting a part-Maiden." Sigma explained.

Alex backed away, he didn't quite understand what was going on, but Ruby and Yang sure did, as a look of horror had been plastered to their faces.

"Well, holy shit. I was right." Alex blinked before all of them had been blown straight backwards.

He leapt off the side of a tree, firing a multitude of lightning bolts, and slashed Sigma as soon as he was sure she was properly distracted.

She leaped out of the way, summoning more glyphs in a circle around Alex, he himself leapt backwards to avoid becoming a charcoal briquette.

"Deal with Beta! I'll handle Sigma myself!" Alex ordered.

"No way! You aren't dealing with a Maiden without my help!" Yang yelled back.

"Yang, let him." Ruby tapped Yang on the shoulder.

"I'm not going to let her kill him! You heard what Qrow said!" Yang reminded.

"If we fight her, we'll be toast! Literally toast!" Ruby pulled her away.

Yang fidgeted in anger, then she sighed in surrender.

"You're coming back." Yang demanded.

"No promises." Alex said back.

Alex and Sigma walked in a circle, twirling their weapons, never taking their eyes off one another.

"Alpha has to pay for what he did to me. Back out now while I'm still in a half-decent mood." Alex offered.

"Save your breath, at least until I take your last!" Sigma threatened.

Both charged towards one another, swords spinning, threats yelled across the frozen underground, and through the hundreds of others firing their weapons.

----

Celestia and Luna met with the other leaders backing the Coalition in Adenien's world capital, Iridescence, to discuss what they will do after the battle ends.

With them was Hunter Smith, the Leader of The North American Federation, a military junta that replaced the former United States in the months since Alex had left Earth. As well as The councils of Remnant and the Supreme Leader of Adenien, only known as Krete.

"Your Highness! Your highness!" One of Celestia's personal guards, Shield, cried out.

"What is it, guard?" Krete asked.

"We've just received information from a fighter on the Iliad named 'Andromeda' that the carriers all fired on each other, they started shooting after the warp drives engaged!" Stone replied.

"They what?!" Smith yelled angrily.

"Who fired first?" One of Vale's councilmen began.

"Do you think that matters now? The ships were destroyed, and because this was after the warp drives engaged, they landed in Kalos Prime. It's likely that they're fighting an uphill battle." Krete scolded.

"Have the other Inheritors revealed anything?" Luna asked.

"We just received word. The Iliad crew is still fighting, and just received help from the Revelation's." Another councilman indicated.

"Who are the Inquisitors fighting them?" Ozpin, who was also in the group, wondered.

"The huntsmen and the Los Santos crew are fighting Beta, AKA Axil Heyes. And the Admiral is fighting Sigma, AKA Cinder Fall. Gamma had engaged Princess Twilight, but did not kill her. He's since evacuated to a nearby fortress." Stone reported.

Ozpin sighed, looking defeated.

"Is something the matter, Professor?" Celestia asked.

"Alexander must know what he's gotten himself into. Cinder Fall attacked one of the Maidens, the guardians of Remnant in possession of legendary power, and stole some for herself. Alex has only been training on-and-off since his stay at Beacon. Think of it this way, his fighting Sigma is like Princess Twilight at base abilities fighting Lord Tirek at full power." Ozpin explained.

"Your worries are not necessary, Professor." Supreme Leader Krete dismissed.

"You must see the futility in this! An ex-Kahn Militia recruit is fighting a god!" Hunter Smith gaped.

Krete only returned this show of doubt with a sly smile.

"If that is how you see Saigo Emphas, you are a greater fool than even I can fathom. Don't forget, he is a powerful fighter, like his father and mother before him."

----

Vanoss ducked out of the way, evading Beta's weapon by mere seconds.

His friends, the other Huntresses in training, and the remaining Elements did what they could to hold him off.

"Delirious! Grenade!" Mini hollered.

Beta kicked Mini away, the grenade he was holding rolled away and exploded in the distance, then punching Delirious' mask.

"It's over, I've won. Surrender." Beta demanded.

"Bitch, I survived Vegeta!" The hockey-masked murderer spat in reply.

Beta swung his blade upwards, severing Vanoss' friend on two before he respawned a few feet away.

"This is beginning to annoy me! I will never stop!" Beta yelled, lunging at Weiss.

"Hang in there! I'll come up with something!" Vanoss yelled.

"Alright. Think, Evan? What can we do to stop this asshole?"

Maybe if they all fired their assault shotguns, it would weaken his armor...

Nah, too overrated, besides, this was supposed to be the apocalypse, not another heist.

If the Huntsmen had a chain attack they could use-

No, that wouldn't work either...

What was that Beta had said earlier?

'I will never stop!' His battle cry echoed.

'Never stop'

'Stop!'

Stop!

That's it! They could tire him out! But how?

Mini, Basically, and Droidd all respawned nearby.

They couldn't die!

"I have a plan! Hoodini Squadron, do what I do!" Vanoss yelled.

"Ugh, is that really what they're calling themselves?!" Yang groaned indignantly.

Vanoss shoved Weiss out of Beta's blade lock and let himself get hacked in two.

Moments later, he respawned directly behind Beta, grabbed a sticky bomb and placed it on a part of his back Vanoss was positive he wouldn't be able to reach.

His friends leaped onto Beta's gore-covered sword, suffering a similar fate reappearing nearby and planting more C4 in parts he couldn't get to due to his cumbersome armor.

"What are you doing?!" He demands.

"Ruby! Hit him with the glowing green balls!" Nogla ordered.

The huntress blushed slightly, raising an eyebrow.

"I shoulda worded that differently." Nogla admitted.

"Shoot him with your ray gun!" Jaune yelled.

"Oh! I got it!" Ruby announced, loading a green cross mag into her gun, clambering it, and pulling the trigger.

The beam hit one of the C4s, triggering an immense explosion that destroyed most of his armor, but he still wasn't dead.

"Dammit!" Vanoss kicked a loose piece of scrap.

"It's okay! We've weakened him!" Blake yelled, kicking at him.

"Everyone, open fire! Now!" Weiss commanded.

Vanoss and his friends unleashed a torrent of gunfire that ripped the Inquisitor to pieces, or it should have.

It instead bounced off of a glowing orange aura that surrounded him.

"This magic barrier should sustain me." Beta scoffed.

"Ruby, Vanoss, I need all of you to hold him off. I know a spell that could break the shielding!" Twilight whispered.

"Got ya!" Vanoss nodded.

"Protect Twilight!" Ruby ordered, the other huntsmen falling back, firing relentlessly at the lumbering murderer.

Moo leaped onto Beta's back, trying to stab his neck with the Calvary Dagger before being thrown off at the others.

Lui fired an AK directly at his back before Beta grabbed it by the barrel and bent it back at him, Lui shot himself in the head and fell to the ground.

Instead of respawning normally, he laid there, a collapsed heap on the ground.

"What the hell? Monkey, get up!" Delirious ordered, sharply kicking him in the side.

"Kids these days. No respect for the dead." Beta scowled.

"What's going on here?!" Basically pointed his gun at the Inquisitor.

"The Alpha was made aware of your abilities, and we've developed a way to break through it. You can only respawn 99 times, and on your hundredth, it is absolute. Permanent. Your friend is dead." Beta announced, chuckling malevolently.

Vanoss' eyes bulged. He hadn't kept count.

Ruby and the others stood in shock, one of the unkillable group of ex-gamers had finally bit the dust.

"Why do the bad guys always get the good shit?" Wildcat sighed.

"Blame Alpha's insistence on collecting old artifacts, most of which are worthless." Beta explained.

Ruby actually shook, rather violently, clutching Crescent Rose until her knuckles turned white.

"Ruby?" Yang wondered.

Her silver eyes had started to glow, dimly at first before flickering intensely as she looked up to face her rival.

"You... I won't..let you..get away..with this..!" She stuttered, trembling.

"Should we start running?" Vanoss backed away.

"I almost have the spell ready, it should be done in about another minute-" Twilight reported.

"You don't need it." Ruby cut her off.

She walked, unsteadily, towards her opponent, her Aura now shining bright silver.

Before Beta could even utter a word, she attacked, swinging Crescent Rose viciously, making marks in his magic barrier. Her screams of rage could even be heard by Alex and Sigma.

Her own teammates couldn't help but watch as their once sweet and innocent leader tore at the inquisitor with blinding speed and pure, unadulterated fury.

Twilight gasped.

"I-Is sh-she actually breaking through?!" Twilight stammered, frightened beyond rational thought.

She spun like a top, ripping chunks off the barrier until his chin was completely exposed.

Finally, in one final blow, she placed the tip of Crescent Rose's blade just under his chin, firing the gun and swinging upwards, splitting his head in two and blowing him into the skies.

Vanoss's remaining crew stared as Ruby's eyes returned to their normal color and the menacing glowing white aura faded from view.

She looked genuinely shocked, she knelt down, breathing in short, quick breaths.

"Ruby! Are you okay?!" Weiss knelt down.

"Yeah... I'm fine... I just pulled an 'Alex'..." She huffed.

Vanoss couldn't help but smirk at that comment alone.

"Speaking of which, where is he?" Nora wondered aloud.

"He's fighting... Sigma... I have...to help.." Pyrrha said, limping nearby, bringing with her an unconscious Lie Ren.

"Someone call a medic." Blake ordered.

"I got Andromeda to contact command! We'll be okay! They're sending reinforcements!" Vinyl yelled back.

"Why do you have to help? Does it have something to do with the Maidens?" Ruby asked, having regained her breath.

"Oh... So you know about that.." Pyrrha sighed.

"Yeah, Qrow told Ruby and I what happened."

"Then you know what I have to do." She said.

"What are you doing?" Jaune asked.

"Your uncle had explained everything. Either she has to surrender peacefully and relinquish her power, or I take it by force, or she takes the half of the Fall Maiden's Aura I have.." She announced.

"You too?!" Yang gasped.

"Alex is fighting her now! You don't have to do this now! Backup is on the way!" Nogla announced.

"I know. I'm sorry, but this is what has to happen. We're huntsmen and huntresses. We defend the world, or die trying."

----

Alex was slammed into a tree, which had soon exploded under him.

He fell like a stone to the ground below, staggering up weakly.

Sigma stomped his chest into the ground, pulling him up by his hair.

"This is more rewarding than you know... With this much power, I might just finally defeat Alpha!" She smiled malevolently.

Alex spat in her face, which she wiped off with a glove that she then pointed at his face.

The glove began to glow before a small Grimm-like bug poked partway out of her hand.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Alex stammered.

"Goodbye, Saigo." She grinned.

Alex closed his eyes tight. So this was how he was going out, with a little bug. Admittedly, kind of pathetic.

"Hey! You!" Someone yelled to his right.

Sigma dropped him and turned to face...

Pyrrha?!

"Ah, if it isn't my other half!" She grinned, taking off the glove in exchange for a matching gauntlet.

"Save it, Cinder." She unsheathed her sword, pointing it at her adversary.

Alex himself staggered up, clutching his blades.

"You. Out. Now." Alex ordered.

"No. This is between me and her!" She demanded.

Sigma glanced at her two opponents.

"It looks like I got more than I bargained for." Sigma laughed.

Alex put on his helmet, thankful there was music in this thing. He pressed 'shuffle' randomly until he found a song which he could properly go on an full-blown rampage to.

"Thank Destoyer, he actually figured this out." He muttered.

He leaped behind his enemy, pulling his swords out of the ground, making an X-shape while glaring at her before smashing his gauntlets together, trying to intimidate his opponent.

"Alex! Just go! You can't fight her!" Pyrrha yelled.

"She killed my friend! She tried to kill me! Like f**k I'm leaving now!"

Sigma laughed callously, lashing out at Pyrrha first and shooting arrows at her direction, Alex ran behind her, hitting her with the pommels of his swords, giving his ally an opportunity to strike.

Pyrrha slashed at her chest, creating a spark as it scraped against the dark armor she was wearing. Alex set both of his blades to their Saw Modes and tried to wear her down.

She raised out both arms, causing dead leaves to rise out of the ground and form themselves into Grimm-like shapes, complete with glowing red eyes.

"Oh, god dammit!" Alex groaned.

'Alex, ya miss me?' Kat said via radio.

Several of the monsters dropped, a thin vapor trail leading up to where they stood.

'I'll help whatever I can. Another wave of reinforcements just showed up and everyone is fighting.'

"Got it!" Alex answered back, blocking a torrent of glass shards.

Pyrrha slid underneath a Cinder-Grimm and shot her rifle at Sigma three times. Alex hacked at her again with his own weapons, the ring of metal against metal echoing through the dark woods.

Sigma grabbed Pyrrha's leg and threw her into a tree so hard that the trunk split in two and she fell with it. Alex blocked another one of Sigma's attacks, but lost one of his swords in the process.

He converted his Blitzklinge into the revolver form, and shot two Cinder-Grimms before finally shooting her in the chest. She recoiled as planned, so Alex delivered a kick that sent her flying towards another tree. Alex moved fast to intercept, punching her square in the face and hacking away at the armor, hoping to destroy it.

Sigma put both of her hands together, palms open, and fired a devastating ray of fire from the gap in between, incinerating many of the trees.

Alex set Blitzklinge back to it's sword mode, then saw mode, and protected himself from the attack, dissipating the flames and striking while she was still open.

Pyrrha leapt up again, kicking Sigma in her side before firing her rifle at least three times before Sigma grabbed the rifle and pulled it away, slamming the butt of the gun in the neck. She aimed the rifle at her heart and would've killed her had Alex not fired a bolt of lightning at her while she was occupied. Sigma turned back at Alex, shooting him in the side, causing the armor to cave in painfully.

Pyrrha hit her with the shield, throwing it at her Captain America style, causing it to ricochet off the armor and return to her hand, delivering another blow to her head.

Sigma grit her teeth in anger, throwing several fireballs towards Pyrrha's direction, giving Alex the perfect opportunity to attack, shooting the remaining ammunition in his revolver before changing it back into a sword and clashing blades with his rival.

Vanoss and Delirious saw the commotion from behind a frozen bush, looking amazed at what was going on.

"Holy shit! She's getting wrecked!" Delirious gaped.

"How does that work? Alex could barely take down Omega without passing out. Either he's just that good, or.." Vanoss pondered.

"Or what?"

"Power levels are bullshit!" He yelled.

She literally blew him away, using the disintegrated leaves and blowing a harsh wind at him, causing him to fly 100 feet back and slam into a tree.

"Kat..?" Alex gasped.

'I have a clear shot. Lethal or non?' Kat answered.

"Not just yet!" Alex warned, leaping up and attacking Sigma, who blocked his attack and Pyrrha's at the same time.

"I'll get to you later." Sigma coldly stated before grabbing Alex by the throat and throwing him into another tree, causing the heavy chunk of wood to fall flat on top of him. He tried lifting the trunk off of him as he watched Sigma ruthlessly slashing at Pyrrha until she could no longer stand, before she dealt a finishing blow that rendered her near-helpless.

Sigma walked up to Pyrrha slowly, soaking in as much self-gratification out of this moment as possible.

"I've been waiting for this for a long time, Ms. Nikos." She removed her gauntlet and slid the glove back on.

'I'm taking the shot now. She can't get that power, if she does, it's all over.'

"Do it, hit the glove." Alex ordered.

Mere seconds later, a bullet screamed through the air, colliding with Sigma's wrist, leaving a gaping hole in the center.

Alex managed to lift the trunk just enough for him to slide under, standing up to full height.

"Sigma!!" Alex yelled.

The woman turned to him, hatred glinting in her eyes.

And then she smiled.

"You know what, I don't even want the other half of the Fall Maiden's powers. Not now. The satisfaction I'll get from watching you die is reward enough."

Alex himself grinned with malevolent intent.

"Fine then, hit me with your best shot." Alex threw his sword to the ground.

Sigma's simple response was to lash out with everything she had. A hurricane of fire, glass, leaves, and chunks of metal debris left a cloud of smoke in the air where Alex once stood. The onslaught was gut-wrenching to watch, but as soon as she finished the attack with a few more explosions, the smoke cloud grew to where one couldn't see one inch inside of it.

Sigma grinned satisfied, her work was done.

She turned around to finish the job before she suddenly heard a loud booming ring.

An explosion quickly dissipated the cloud of smoke, revealing that Alex had survived.

Sigma stared on, backing away slowly as she looked on in dread.

She heard another loud ring as Alex exploded again, this time, his skin started to turn a glowing blue, along with the roots of his hair.

The ringing and the explosions of power grew quicker and faster in pace, before one final brilliant flash of light blinded any bystanders, and by the end of the ordeal, Alex now stood in his Enlightened Warrior form.

"Y-You... What.. What the hell are y-you?!" She gasped.

"Funny. You said you heard what happened to Omega, and you still didn't expect me to walk out of that attack more pissed off than hurt." Alex grinned smugly.

"It's come to this... I don't think you'll try to spare me like your friends will, is that true?" She asked, trying to retain some of her confidence.

"Kinda sad how they think you're redeemable."

Alex charged, each hand generating massive amounts of electricity and glowing brightly, as though two stars suddenly engulfed his fists.

Sigma glared, preparing another attack, both eyes burning bright orange as she readied her swords.

Both opponents launched themselves at each other, matching blow for blow at blinding speeds, launching the various lightning bolt or the odd brand of fire here and there.

Alex eventually grabbed both of Sigma's wrists, twisting them at an awkward angle before frying her with his sheer power.

She was eventually blown backwards into a series of trees, battered and beaten.

She summoned her bow, stringing an egregious amount of arrows, tips burning so hot Sigma was almost surprised that they didn't just melt.

She eventually released, arrows flying and causing a massive explosion wherever they landed.

The dissipated the bow afterwards, keeping one sword and stabbing it into the ground below, causing raw magma to erupt from underneath, engulfing that part of the forest in molten rock.

Alex eventually limped out, wounded himself, but still determined.

He ran towards Sigma, grabbing her by the throat and charging a fist as he hit her, repeatedly, in the side.

"Kidney punch. Kidney punch. Kidney punch, and pause..."

Sigma gasped, coughing up blood and losing much of her Aura fast.

"Electrical Torrent!!!"

Alex kicked her away, firing beams of plasma from his fingertips at her, so fast and powerful that he was sure she was nearly dead by now.

He finally stopped, lowering his hand and reverting to his normal form within seconds.

Staying awake, he walked over, picking up his sword and walking to where she now laid, infuriated by how easily she had lost.

He converted his sword into it's revolver form, pointing it at her.

"Alex!" He heard Yang yell from behind.

He turned to find Yang and Kat, along with another fireteam.

"Where's Pyrrha? Did Sigma steal her powers?" She asked.

"She's back there. She's fine. Kat shot Sigma's hand almost completely off just to keep it from happening." Alex assured, nodding thanks to his friend.

"So, what are you going to do with her?" Kat asked.

"Isn't it obvious by now?" Yang wondered.

Sigma coughed.

"Go ahead, finish me off, that is.. If you're able.." She coughed, gasping and gagging.

Alex stared her coldly in the eye, cocked the revolver, put his finger on the trigger..

And put it back in his holster.

"Put her under arrest. See to it that she's put somewhere she won't be able to escape for the duration of the battle." Alex ordered.

Yang looked at Alex like he was insane.

"This is... Different.." She blinked.

"What? You think I kill everyone who deserves it? That's like getting a trophy just for showing up to a track meet. And besides..." Alex turned to look at his defeated enemy one last time.

"At least Omega was strong enough to get a few hits in, unlike this pushover." Alex dismissively spun his revolver around his right pointer finger.

Sigma grit her teeth in anger, pulling with what energy she had left to rip Alex's throat out, but because she was in such rough shape, the soldiers were easily able to pull her away.

"Ouch." Kat cringed.

"Well, guess what Ruby did!" Yang smiled.

"Killed Beta?" Alex asked.

"Yep! She went all crazy after one of Evan's friends died, and when she finished the job, she said she pulled a 'you'." Yang smirked.

Alex chuckled a bit, amused at the comment.

"That's all well and good, but there's a lot we need to do. This battle isn't over yet." Alex said,

"Andromeda just summoned reinforcements, numbering to at least another million. So we'll have a total of 2 million attacking the Tranquility Complex nearby." Kat explained.

"How many Red Star are over there right now?" Alex asked.

"3 mil, with at least another million on the way." Yang replied.

"Good. What Inquisitors are over there right now?" Alex asked.

"Gamma, and another two who were known associates of Sigma. Tau and Upsilon." Kat answered.

"Emerald and Mercury... In retrospect, they did look a bit shady to me. I'll take care of them, no problem." Yang smirked.

A large transport vehicle lowered just above the molten lava that now covered the ground, it released a bridge so one could walk in without having to actually jump or climb inside.

Kat walked inside first, then Yang, who reached out for support after Alex had started to stumble a bit.

As he walked inside, he saw Twilght, Rarity, Vanoss's crew minus Lui, Jaune, Nora, The other members of Team RWBY, Vinyl, and Ember.

"Hey, sir." Ember greeted sadly.

"Something happen?" Alex asked.

"Blast died fighting against Beta, and Skirmish was almost blown to bits as soon as the shooting started on the Iliad. Sure, she's finenow, but..." Ember explained.

"Shit, we just lost Lui." Vanoss sighed.

"Is Pyrrha okay?" Jaune asked Alex.

"She's fine. I took care of Sigma. She isn't going anywhere, for a while, at least.." Alex groaned, laying his head back.

"What's the plan, exactly?" Vinyl asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Alex asked, "We're going to Tranquility Complex."

Author's Notes:

Credit to DAGames for the song!

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot. I've just been busy with school and everything, plus the sheer length of these chapters means I have to write a crap-ton with the little bit of time I actually have.

Also, I'm quite a procrastinator, I'm sure a few of you can relate.
