Blood Red Shadows
Chapter 43: Act II, Chapter 16: Equestrian Electro-Naut Part II of II
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAlex initiated his attack by converting Electric Fury into it's Rail-Gun form.
A yellow glow surrounded the gun, and it was ripped from Alex's hands and flung off to the side.
Pulling out .44 Scratch, Alex shot 4 rounds at Gamma, who likely stole his gun. All four bullets were blocked by Beta's broadsword, ricocheting back at Alex. Dodging the shots, they cannoned into the trees, probably hitting a timberwolf or something.
Alex's next move was to use his new mechanical jet-pack and fly about 30 feet up. Jäger and Sigma fired a Barrett at him and shot glass at him respectively, threatening to down him.
'Let's see what this thing can do,' Alex thought, his suit glowing brighter and brighter.
Massive arcs of lightning cascaded from the glowing areas of the suit, pacifying about two of the warriors.
Epsilon flew up to where Alex was, being a Gryphon, and clawed at his visor.
Alex was disoriented, but not for very long. His simple reply to the attack was to strangle the Inquisitor.
A yellow glow formed around Alex.
This wasn't good.
"FIIIIRE SPEEEEARS!!!" Beta roared from below.
Strands of fire lashed at the boy, burning him underneath.
In pain and rage, he curled into a ball and lashed out in fury, bands of electricity disabling Gamma's grasp on Alex.
Falling to the ground, Alex lashed out at Jäger, punching his old enemy hard in the rib cage. Alex's fist seeped right through the mercenary, liquid metal seeping out from both ends.
"Ever see 'Terminator 2?" Jäger mocked.
"Series devolved after the second, never stuck around besides that." Alex retorted, swinging the fist straight upwards, knocking Jäger back.
Alex ducked, narrowly avoiding Sigma's swords. He punched hard, sending her careening into a destroyed tank.
"Iris? You got a plan?!" Alex asked.
"Negative." Iris replied.
"You vapid, near-sighted little-" Alex could barely finish his sentence before having to block Beta's fist, which would have otherwise slammed into his face.
Instead, Alex skidded backwards, his feet making marks on the earth below.
"You should have surrendered at the ship, Catalyst." He spat.
"I could've stopped long before that."
"Damn shame." Jäger fired a revolver at him, a very familiar revolver.
Alex moved the fist away before lashing out at the mercenary, grabbing the gun and kicking him aside.
Razor-sharp claws lashed at the armor, causing Alex to recoil.
"You fight like a young stallion not being held back. Admirable, but futile." Epsilon quoted.
"Since when do you watch Christopher Nolan movies?" Alex asked.
"As soon as I joined my brothers and sisters." Epsilon smiled back.
"Is it just me, or is this pathetic Fanfiction getting more and more unoriginal?" Sigma asked, firing an arrow at Alex and Epsilon, the resulting explosion separating the two.
"Tell that to the 40-something people who added this to their bookshelves." Alex scoffed in reply.
"You children make me sick." Beta lurched, swinging his broadsword at Alex, blocking it with both gauntlets.
"Wait a second. Do we all go on Fimfiction?" Alex asked.
Beta, Gamma, and Epsilon charged at Alex, bombarding him with swipes and swings and gunshots. Alex dodged most of them.
"Poor kid, he has the commitment," Gamma scoffed as a beam of yellow-hued energy held Alex at bay, "He has the talent, but he lacks constitution."
Alex leapt upwards, avoiding any more extensive damage by the hands of these warriors.
"He's mine!" Jäger screamed, leaping high up and grabbing his leg.
Jäger grabbed the hunting knife and stabbed at his jet-pack. Alex was losing control of his suit.
Using this new-found unpredictability, he charged a gauntlet until it glowed red.
Aiming his blow at Beta, who was likely the most powerful, he landed a hard punch right at the helmeted face, sending the armored warrior backwards into the destroyed heap of a helicopter.
"Beta!" Sigma screamed, aiming an arrow at Alex.
Alex ducked just in time, the arrow flying behind him and blowing a gaping hole in Jäger's back.
"Power-hungry f**k! YOU KILLED MY PARENTS, YOU DIE FIRST!!!" Alex leaped again, the gauntlet recharged, and punched Sigma.
Epsilon blocked the deadly blow, grabbing it with an armored claw.
Alex was quite surprised when he noticed the massive sword swinging in his direction.
Throwing Epsilon towards the blade, it hit him head on, knocking the Rogue Guard leader into another broken vehicle.
Alex reached for Electric Fury and, before Beta could rear up for another swing, Alex converted it into it's rail gun form and shot Beta in the dented helmet.
Sigma leaped at him, both swords brandished. Alex blocked the blades with ease, converting the rail gun into the sword, and swinging at his parents' killer.
Alex was hit hard in the side, Gamma threw a Jeep at him!
The boy was knocked onto his side, caked in mud and blood.
"Ach... Should've seen that coming." Alex groaned, nearly standing up before he was attacked again.
Jäger shot at him, throwing a knife at him that landed squarely in the shoulder.
Gamma threw more vehicles and various junk at him, disorienting Alex further,
Beta and Sigma swung their swords at him, sending pain into his muscles strike by strike.
Lastly, Epsilon reared into a running start, grabbing the boy and tossing him into the air like a rag doll.
Landing hard into the Landkreuzer, he noticed a minor detail.
It hadn't yet exploded, but a series of beeps told him it was close.
Alex leapt off just in time before the tank, and anyone inside, exploded into a fiery heap, the boy falling to the ground nearby, beaten and bruised.
His Armor was in horrid shape, almost worse than Scarab Mk. III's.
Pulling the knife from his shoulder, he tossed it to the ground.
"We aren't finished yet!" Beta yelled, leaping high above the wreckage and towards the battered teen.
Alex blocked the blade, almost completely keeping it from wounding him, aside from the fact that part of the blade seeped into his leg.
Alex blasted lightning at the inquisitor, disorienting him and holding the brute at bay.
He needed a plan before the rest showed up!
"FIIIIIIRE WAAAAAVE!!!" Beta pounded the earth below, and the ground under Alex exploded in a burst of flame, sending him screaming high into the air.
As soon as he landed, he noticed Beta kneeling in pain as he held in his blood. He looked in front of him and was met with a surprising sight.
The Inheritor Alex met in Patch.
Raven.
"What. The. Hell." Alex gasped.
"Go, now!" She ordered.
"I'm not leaving just yet." Alex coughed.
"These Inquisitors are some of the most powerful ones alive! You have to go, they'll kill you if you stay here!" She urged.
"What's the plan? At least tell me you have some sort of idea for this!" Alex groaned.
"There isn't time! Return to your friends!" Raven ordered again.
"FYI, lady. Most of my friends are in different universes, so..."
"Celestia's sake, NOW!" She yelled, fighting against Sigma and Gamma, who had just arrived.
Alex was enveloped in a white glow, he had an idea of what was likely to happen. He was about to be teleported.
Before leaving, Alex tossed Raven a small box he had gotten from Vinyl before the mission began, what she called 'Plan C'.
"Give those Inquisitors my regards, at the very least." Alex nodded in acceptance before fading completely out of sight.
----
Alex awoke next inside a bedroom, the soft blankets and pillows providing some sort of comfort before abruptly waking up completely.
He was definitely somewhere inside a castle.
"Where am I?" Alex asked, he didn't exactly hear anyone, and almost no evidence of any other life besides his own was present in the large room.
Almost being the note on the nightstand.
Alex picked up the note and read it.
Alex,
If you're reading this, I suppose you have survived the assault. I applaud your persistence.
I sincerely apologize for not explaining things sooner, but we had no time to explain the main plan to you completely.
Remember how my sister, Princess Luna, had explained that the Rogue Guard had been waging war on Equestria? That wasn't exactly the full truth.
As you have probably noticed by now, the Rogue Guard were working with the Los Santos Syndicate, The White Fang, and Task Force Crimson. I am not sure what they were planning, but ours was to decrease their numbers and set back their plans at least a little while longer.
I can't exactly explain all of this in detail, given the size of the note, so I ask only that you meet myself, Luna, the Elements, the Scratchbolts, and Raven inside the throne room once you've awoken.
Sincerely,
Princess Celestia
Alex shrugged, he saw this sort of thing coming, but not from the Princess of the Sun.
Upon standing up, he noticed the pain throughout his whole body, the aching and stinging present throughout the boy's body threatened to keep him confined in the room.
He limped down the stairs, running into a guard.
"Excuse me, do you know where I can find the Throne Room?" Alex asked.
"Yes, Commander. It's the 4th door to your left." The guard saluted.
Commander?
Alex nodded politely, ignoring the sudden respect from the guard, and walked down the hall.
Turning to his left, he opened the door.
The eleven ponies and one human looked expectantly at the door.
"Well, look who decided to show up!" Rainbow yelled.
Twilight nudged Rainbow, silencing her.
"Are you all right?" Twilight asked.
"Do I look okay?!" Alex scowled.
"I don't expect you to, between four of the Inquisitors' best and a Terminator knock-off, I'm surprised you're even alive." Raven commented.
"Speaking of the schmuck brigade, what happened?" Alex asked.
"Plan C, baby!" Vinyl yelled.
"It turns out that Vinyl arranged a magic wave cannon into Equestria's atmosphere, blew them all away." Cloudchaser elaborated.
"So, what, are they dead now?" Alex asked.
"I wish." Raven scoffed.
"Where's Mako?" Alex asked.
"Right here, kid." A voice behind him replied.
Turning around, Alex noticed the Agent walk in.
"Mako Cerise, CIA. I understand you've met Agent Thorne?" She asked.
"I had the good fortune, yes." Alex replied.
"I'm... Sorry about what happened to your family and everything. I know it doesn't mean much, but..." Mako sighed.
"I get it. Thanks, Mako." Alex nodded.
"So, can someone explain to me what the hay is going on here?" Applejack asked.
"Yeah, I'm lost here, too." Alex shrugged.
"Look, about a week after Twilight left for Remnant, the other factions started coming in, huge armies with weapons once completely foreign to Pony-kind were suddenly commonplace, and we weren't exactly sure why." Luna began.
"So Celestia, knowing a fair amount about the other universes, came to me for help. I told her that I could, and I knew someone else who could, too." Raven continued.
"Yang, right?" Alex concluded.
"Not just her, this was after you met up with Team RWBY, Raven said that once she met you, that they could help us." Celestia said.
"Keeping in mind that Celestia had a vision before you came that predicted the situation almost exactly, I knew what was going on right away." Raven said.
"Yeah yeah, Great War of the Ages, Apocalypse, blah blah blah. How could I have known?" Alex groaned.
"So once you guys went to LS, Celestia had me set up the Scratchbolts before Twilight came back while the Princesses built their military. Once we met with you, we had Iris take the reins on this case." Vinyl continued.
"And I shadowed the group and made sure they were on the right track." Mako added
"What they found was a bit more disturbing." Twilight said.
"Legend has it that before the Great Battle, the forces of darkness would come together and form the Scarlet Army of the Inquisitors, the Red Star Coalition, for short." Raven continued.
"The Red Star?" Alex asked.
"Five points on the same blood-stained army, The Inquisitors, the Rogues, the Syndicate, the White Fang, and lastly, Task Force Crimson." Luna elaborated.
"We had expected all of you, Team RWBY and Vanoss's Crew included, we didn't expect for all of you to go your separate ways." Celestia grimly stated.
"Well, shit! Get them over here!" Alex gasped.
"We already sent the letters, Darling. We've gotten one response." Rarity said.
"Team RWBY still needs time, Destoyer knows why." Rainbow scoffed.
"WOO HOO! MAKING RHYMES ALL THE TIME!" Pinkie yelled.
"PINKIE!" Twilight clamped a hoof over the pink party horse's mouth.
Alex had one last thing to ask.
"Earlier, the Guard called me 'Commander'. Was I already promoted or something?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. Don't bring yourself down, you earned that title several times over, if what I heard was right." Flitter said, placing a hoof on Alex's shoulder as he sat.
"HOLY SHIT, THIS CASTLE IS BOOTIFUL!" someone yelled.
"Shut up, Delirious, we're supposed to surprise them!" someone else chided.
"Well, that killed the mood." Cloudchaser scoffed.
"Oh, F**k no." Mako sighed.
"You know them, too?" Alex asked.
"I oversaw Project Immersion." She replied glumly.
Ten adult men and one fifteen year old girl burst in through the doors in the hall.
"SURPRISE, BITCHES! I'M THE REAL DELIRIOUS!" A hockey masked clown yelled.
"Hey, man! How've you been?" An owl greeted.
"Eyyy, never thought I'd see you again, scary lady!" A pig yelled.
"Tyler, I swear to god!" Mako grumbled.
"Kat!" Twilight yelled, flying over to the girl, hugging her tightly.
The whole throne room was abuzz with conversation from thereon, old friends reunited, new ones made in seconds, and a sense of friendship spread in the room.
"So, Vinyl gave me this kick-plot suit and now I can fly a lot faster!" Flitter laughed.
"Holy, shit. That's the best f**king thing I've ever seen in my life!" Mini smirked.
"Hey, when did Destoyer finally let us say 'f**k'?" Basically asked.
"Around when we got back, it was scary..." Fluttershy replied, shrinking back.
"So, you're a CIA agent like Karis?" Kat asked Mako.
"I take it Alex told you about her, only really close friends knew her on a first-name basis." Mako said.
"Every pony, listen!" Celestia yelled, everyone silencing, awaiting word from the sun goddess.
"From this point forward, you are now the best of the best, the A-Team, as Mr. Fong would describe it." Luna said.
"So, with that said. You are all taking orders from Commanders Mako Cerise, Alex Walker, Katherine Anderson, and Princess Twilight Sparkle." Celestia continued.
"So, Commander Walker, what's your first order of business?" Raven asked.
"Me?" Alex asked, pointing to himself.
"Go ahead, kid. We all trust you." Mako nodded.
"You have my approval." Twilight added.
"Well, Alex. They're waiting." Kat replied.
Alex stared out among his comrades, his peers, the men, women, and ponies he had the honor of knowing and working alongside.
"We link up with the Royal Guard troops in Dodge City, help fortify their defenses. Tell Team RWBY that we'll be over there in case they ever decide to show. If we can stop them before anything from this damn prophecy that I don't know about happens, maybe we'll all have a better chance at living out the rest of our lives instead of coming out in a box. Let's end this war."
