Blood Red Shadows
Chapter 40: Act II, Chapter 13: Return to Equestria
Previous Chapter Next ChapterA purple vortex appeared suddenly on the plains south of Ponyville.
A young man in full Equestrian Steel armor stalked out of it, with him were the six Elements of Harmony.
"Stay close. Luna said that these 'Rogue Guard' pretty much swarmed the town." Alex warned.
"I still can't believe Rainbow turned over those documents!" Twilight lamented.
"Hey! I had to do something!" The Pegasus defended.
"Like having Kat take over Evan's crew in our absence?!" Rarity gaped.
"Stow it. I'd be helping Kat and Vanoss out with the Syndicate, or, hell, maybe going with Ruby and the others to Remnant if I wasn't required to come along!" Alex tried to end this as soon as he could.
"And how do ya expect to stop them?" Applejack inquired.
"Only way I know how."
"A PARTY!!!" The hyper-energetic pink horse interrupted.
"Er... Something along those lines." Alex admitted.
"Just...leave me out of it. My animals must be worried sick! Angel is particularly gun-shy... If that's how you say it..." Fluttershy darted her eyes, almost expecting to be caught dead center in the fray.
"Okay then, you two were clearly made for each other." Alex said, more to himself than the yellow Pegasus.
"All right, Mr. Big shot mercenary, how are we going to stop them before things get worse?" Rainbow asked.
"Go home. All of you." Alex ordered.
"No way!" She yelled back.
"Yes way. It's me they want. Not you. Go home, try to make the best of it, avoid any confrontation until this is all sorted out."
"And how do you think this is gonna end?" Applejack asked.
"Two ways. A; They kill me and leave my rotting corpse to the buzzards..."
"Ew.." Fluttershy immediately gagged
"Or B; By some circumstance, I kill Iron Talon or whatever the bastard's name is, and his whole guard falls apart and you guys are safe." Alex finished.
"Ah can tell you're more the 'glass is half-empty' kinda fella."
"Thanks a million, Sheriff Obvious." Alex rolled his eyes.
"Racist."
"My point is that this isn't your problem. It never was and it never should have been your problem."
"We are not letting you do this alone! We're helping you!" Rainbow stood directly in front of Alex, glaring at his helmeted eyes.
"You want to help me? Good. Go home."
"If you haven't already noticed, our homes have probably been destroyed!" Twilight angrily stated.
"Oh come on, your ponies, for cripes sake! The closest since this you've gotten to armed conflict is a bunch of insane, egotistical monsters that you've defeated pretty easily." Alex scoffed.
"You don't get it, do you? Since Equestria hasn't been involved in a war for a millennium, we have no laws governing what they can and can't do!" Twilight retorted.
"Really? In the thousand years you guys had to chill, none of you had the foresight to write something like the Geneva Conventions?"
"You've never abided by any of those laws either! I bet once you get home, you'll be tried as a war criminal!"
"Who the hell said I was going back to Earth?"
"What do you mean?"
Alex facepalmed, if he facepalmed any harder, his hand would have gone straight through his skull.
"Haven't I told you guys this like, a MILLION F***ING TIMES ALREADY?!"
Pinkie gaped at Alex.
"You defy the not-so-great Destoyer by using the forbidden word?!" Pinkie gasped.
"YOU KNOW WHAT? YES, I DID!"
"You fiend! SHORYUKEN!" Pinkie yelled, upper cutting Alex in the face with what appeared to be...
"What the hell? Is that Yang's?!" Alex asked in surprise.
"She let me borrow it!" The party horse smiled broadly.
"You...do know she's back at Remnant, right?"
Her smile faded into one of genuine surprise, as if she had completely forgotten that she had to give it back.
She ran away, panicking and hollering.
"DISCOOORD! I NEED YOUR HEEEELP!!!" Alex heard her say.
All of them stared in disbelief at what the hell just happened.
"Well, Ah've gotta check and see if Apple Bloom's okay." Applejack said as she walked in the direction of her home.
"And I have to make sure that Opal didn't destroy all of my projects in my absence." Rarity nodded her goodbyes and left for the Boutique.
"Wait, where's Spike?!" Twilight had immediately come to her senses and ran off for her castle.
"Oh! Poor Angel bunny! Momma's coming!" Fluttershy flew off in speed almost comparable to Rainbow's.
"Well, I have to check my mail for Wonderbolt acceptance letters!" Rainbow flew off towards her home, leaving Alex alone.
As Alex watched Rainbow fly away, he started to think, about all of this. About Earth. About Equestria. About Remnant.
He thought about all the times he had to run away from whomever wanted him to die, Task Force Crimson, The Inquisitors, The Syndicate, and hell, maybe even the White Fang.
And nothing's changed since. Now he was off fighting whoever the 'Rogue Guard' was. And it all boiled down to this single thought that echoed through his mind.
'I hate always having to do this.'
-2 Hours Later-
Alex was almost back in Ponyville, the small town was in his line of sight now. Only it was...different.
No Fillies or Colts or...wait, did he even get that right?
Anyways, no children were out playing, no old friends conversing, nothing.
It was...almost scary to think about.
The storybook-perfect little world he was first introduced to in this state deeply unnerved him.
Even the sky itself was a dark grey-ish color.
"What the hell happened here?" Alex asked to himself.
"Halt! Hands where I can see them!"
Alex turned around to see Stallions in grey armor bearing what appeared to be firearms perfectly designed for use by a pony.
"What the-"
"Are you deaf? Hands up!" The captain ordered again.
"Do you know who I am?" Alex asked them.
"No, but you must be quite the coward to hide behind that suit! HANDS UP!"
Alex removed his helmet and dropped it to the ground before them.
The captain looked up at Alex, and he knew what was running through his mind.
"We need backup!"
They all fired their weapons at Alex, to little effect. All the bullets bounced off his armor.
Alex himself made short work of the patrol in 7 shots, all to the head.
Dusting himself off, he walked around the town some more, still not over the fact that the town he once knew was so...barren.
"Walker spotted! Moving in!" Alex turned around to see dozens of armed ponies and the odd gryphon here or there, all bearing weapons.
Alex shot back, killing two of them before a gryphon lashed out at him with a huge knife.
This gryphon in particular held the blade high before finally plunging it down, Alex could barely hold it in place, he was decently strong, but no match for a trained soldier.
Alex punched the gryphon in the face, grabbed the knife, and jammed it square into the side of his neck before pulling out .44 Scratch and shooting him off.
Before he even had time to react, a pony punched him square behind the knee, causing Alex to kneel to the ground.
He lunged for the knife in the dead gryphon's throat, sharply pulling it out and placing it dead center in the stallion's forehead.
Alex turned around, firing his gun at anyone he could until he was brought down again by a gryphon.
"You're dead meat, Human!" The gryphon spat an Alex struggled to get it off of him.
It lashed it's claws, barely noticing that the claws were reinforced by Equestrian Steel before they ripped through the armor and into his skin.
The pain fueled his anger, and he punched the gryphon in the beak, enhancing it with his own Aura.
It was absolutely devastating, the punch broke the gryphon's beak entirely, grasping what remained in agony before Alex ended it all.
He looked on at the dozens of soldiers still on the way.
He could take them.
Focusing all of his power into his right hand, he leaped high and punched the ground below, sending red lightning out in a huge wave that electrocuted the crowd of soldiers, frying them all and filling the air with a revolting stench.
Alex put his helmet back on, holstered .44 Scratch, and unsheathed Electric Fury, it's blade glistening in the light.
This time, they brought in what seemed to be horse-drawn carriages armed with machine guns.
Alex leaped into the air, bringing the sword down on the gunner, slicing him clean in half.
Alex stole the machine gun, aimed it below, where more soldiers were, and fired until the roof collapsed from under him.
Tossing the MG in his hands, he set the shoulder-mounted MG to automatically target hostiles, and it absolutely ripped them apart.
A large explosion struck at Alex's back.
They were using mortars?!
The MG was destroyed, but not any of the other weapons.
"Something you need?" Iris asked.
"Mark all the mortar positions!" Alex ordered.
"Now now, say the 'p' word..." Iris stalled.
"Fine. Will you please target all the mortar positions." Alex groaned.
"Thank you for being so polite! Okay, targeting six Rogue Guard mortar positions!"
Alex saw six green dots marked on his HUD.
"You have a plan, don't you?" Iris asked.
"Don't I always?" Alex smirked.
He opened up every last compartment on the suit, causing wave upon wave of rockets to completely wreck the mortars and their crew.
"Iris, are we all cleaned up?" Alex asked.
"I wouldn't say that."
"What do you mean?" Alex asked.
"You know how Die Glocke was a Nazi super-weapon, right?"
"Yeah but what does that have to do with... Oh, no."
"Have you ever heard of the Landkreuzer P. 1000?"
"The Rat. How in god's name did they get that thing?!"
Alex looked behind him, and saw the massive tank.
It was damn huge, even all of team Unity combined would have difficulty taking it down.
Alex summoned all of his remaining Aura, pulled out both .44 Scratch and Electric Fury, and leaped towards it, his battle cry echoing through the desolate place.
The tank fired everything it had at Alex, quite literally everything.
As Alex neared closer to the giant tank, he knew this would probably end horribly.
-4 Hours Later-
The Armored Pegasus landed on the ground, the shattered remains of a giant tank lay smoking on the ground, only calmed by the light rain that casually landed on the ground and barely dousing the flames.
She wandered a bit until she came across a human body, the visor cracked, the armor blackened by rapid fire from the previous battle, at least, what remained of the armor. It was shredded completely, but the body within was completely intact.
And alive. The young man was unconscious, and badly injured, but alive.
She gently removed the young man's helmet to get a better look at him.
The boy had ashy-blonde hair that almost curled at the edges, and it was rather messy, even worse given what had happened.
His features were quite gaunt, pale with the exceptions of multiple scars and bags under the eyes.
Scars were present almost everywhere on the boy's face, of all shapes and sizes, but almost all of them were barely noticeable that one could only see them from way up close.
The scar on his eye was one of the only exceptions, it started just above his eyebrow, ended just above the socket, then met the skin below going another half inch down.
She couldn't quite get a clear look at his eyes, since he was unconscious, but she already knew who he was.
"It's been a while since I've seen you. I know all about what happened to you. " She said, placing a hoof gently on his shoulder.
She removed her mask, and placed it at her side, in a compartment on the powered suit that completely concealed any trace of coat, only the tail bare.
The pony herself was a deep purplish color, the mane white lined with a light blue, with bags under her eyes similar to the boy's.
She held the boy gently, as she was preparing for the flight back.
"But don't worry, We're going to put you back together again."

Well, here we are, Alex's return to Equestria!
I think you guys should know how this exactly worked, since I doubt I described it well enough.
Alex and the Elements of Harmony went back to Equestria to deal with the Rogue Guard,
Kat stayed in LS with Vanoss and friends to deal with the Syndicate,
And Team RWBY went back to Remnant, why? Well it's called a spoiler alert, I can't tell you that yet.I was a little late with this chapter, but I'll try to release the chapter earlier next week.
